Following years on hiatus, Linkin Park announced its return with new singer Emily Armstrong, but the news has come with controversy. 

The American rock band, known for such hits as "In the End" and "Numb," ceased operation in 2017 following the tragic death of lead singer Chester Bennington. 

Since then, work on reuniting the group has been a bit of a non-starter. That has not stopped various members from releasing music on their own, though. Since Bennington's passing, singer/rapper Mike Shinoda has been prolific in his output but has not put anything out under the Linkin Park name.

Linkin Park have announced a major comeback, including a new album and tour. The band has also introduced Dead Sara singer Emily Armstrong as its new co-vocalist, and has unveiled the single “The Emptiness Machine.”

Armstrong, who has the daunting task of filling the shoes of the late Chester Bennington, joins classic members Mike Shinoda, Joe Hahn (turntablist), Brad Delson (guitar), and Phoenix (bass), along with new drummer Colin Brittain. Original drummer Rob Bourdon is not taking part in the reunion.

The six-date “From Zero” tour kicks off September 11th at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, and includes September stops in Brooklyn, New York; Hamburg, Germany, London, England; and Seoul, South Korea, as well as a November 11th gig in Bogota, Colombia. Linkin Park have announced their new career-spanning greatest hits album, Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000-2023), out April 12th via Warner Records. Ahead of its release, they’ve shared “Friendly Fire,” a previously unreleased song featuring vocals from the late Chester Bennington.

The tracklist for Papercuts ranges from early hits like “In the End” and “Somewhere I Belong” to later songs like “Castle of Glass” and “One More Light” to rarities like “Qwerty.” The album will be available on all digital platforms and CD, cassette, and various vinyl variants, including a Zoetrope picture disc and limited edition colors. Beach Fossils have announced their fourth album, Bunny, which will hop onto shelves on June 2nd. The dream-pop quartet also ushered in their first studio LP in six years with the project’s first single, “Don’t Fade Away.”

Bunny was produced by frontman Dustin Payseur and self-recorded and released by the group. Payseur reflected on the indie mainstay’s sonic progression with the band’s sole founding member sharing in a statement that “When I wrote the first record, there were no choruses; it was instrumental guitar parts in between verses. This is the first record where I’ve consciously thought about writing a chorus.”

The initial offering from the album, “Don’t Fade Away” does indeed include an earworm of a chorus that won’t soon be forgotten, along with more familiar features from Beach Fossils like the warm, jangly guitars over an urgent yet even-keeled beat. Payseur...

Linkin Park is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their second album Meteora by releasing a previously unreleased song called “Lost,” of course featuring the lead vocals of the late Chester Bennington.

“‘Lost,’ a new, never-before-heard song from the Meteora archives,” wrote the band on Twitter Monday, sharing a snippet of the soon-to-be-released song, which features Bennington’s vocals as he sings: “‘Cause when I’m alone, I’m lost in these memories, living behind my illusion.”

The rock band had previously shared a countdown to their website, which expired on Feb.

Writer Harris Goldberg (Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo) has sold a comedy to ABC in addition to several feature projects he has in the works. The ABC half-hour, titled A 100% Chance of Rayne, is executive produced by Goldberg and former NBC marketing topper-turned-producer Vince Manze. It was originally set up at NBC where Manze had a producing deal. Based on Goldberg's real-life experiences, Rayne centers on a perpetually single guy whose younger sister's ugly duckling childhood girlfriend shows up on his door step 10 years later, now blossomed into a gorgeous, yet flawed 21 year old. Goldberg is writing the project whose deal was brokered by Apa and manager David Greenblatt. Also in TV, Harris recently wrote To Be Continued, a project at HBO about generational love, which he is executive producing with Gary Randall. He is also writing/producing Just the Facts, an hourlong drama for Canada's CBC, which Canadian-based Prodigy Pictures is deficit financing.

Kevin Pollak's (Blizzard) web series Vamped Out premiered April 9th to a select crowd in Hollywood and now the first episode with trailer are available here for fans of either comedy, or horror. TORONTO -- Canadian mini-studio Peace Arch Entertainment on Tuesday said it has picked up the Canadian distribution rights to four movies from Vancouver-based producer Insight Film Studios.

Toronto-based Peace Arch said the multipicture deal includes the Matthew Perry-starring comedy Numb, writer Harris Goldberg's directorial debut that is set for a North American theatrical release in 2008.

Also on the Peace Arch slate is When a Man Falls in the Forest starring Sharon Stone and Timothy Hutton, which is set for a DVD release in Canada Jan. 8.

Peace Arch also picked up Operation Espionage, a thriller starring Wesley Snipes that is in preproduction and is slated for DVD release next summer, and the Steven Seagal starrer Higher Education, also in preproduction and set for a summer 2008 release.

The deal was unveiled by Tim Brown, president of Insight Film Releasing, and Berry Meyerowitz, president of Peace Arch Home Entertainment.

Matthew Perry has signed to star in Numb, a dark comedy from writer Harris Goldberg, who is making his feature directorial debut on the picture. Paul Schiff is producing along with Insight Films' Kirk Shaw and Mary Aloe. Perry will play a screenwriter who suffers from acute depersonalization disorder, a condition so alienating and sanguine that it makes the chronically depressed look perky. When he falls for a girl, he puts himself through every single therapy in the book in order to win her love. Harris developed the project with Schiff, who took it to Insight, an indie production-finance company based in Canada.
