Haim Sip Cocktails, Talk ‘I Quit,’ and Explain the Importance of Acknowledging Farts When Dating
Image
Haim know a few things about just how cathartic it can be to call it quits. Their new album, I Quit, is steeped in tough breakups, but also the elation of hard-won independence. And while sisters Danielle, Alana, and Este Haim initially chose the title — a reference to a famous scene in That Thing You Do — as a placeholder, Alana tells Rolling Stone in a new interview, “After a while, we just realized it really did feel like the perfect title.”

“It honestly made us laugh,” Danielle adds.

Speaking over some homemade vodka cocktails,...

Father John Misty ‘Mahashmashana’ Review: A Droll Commemoration of Modern Life
Image
Father John Misty is a withering social commentator who casts wry aspersions on the ludicrousness of modern life, often depicted in funhouse proportions with the aid of winkingly florid arrangements. Though he’s more than eager to implicate himself in this clown show of a world—as on “The Night Josh Tillman Came to Our Apartment,” from 2015’s I Love You, Honeybear, where he proves lecherous and desperate enough to hook up with an pseud whom he spends the entire song excoriating—Josh Tillman’s best writing is more observational than introspective.

Tillman the cultural satirist and Tillman the gonzo diarist are both present and accounted for on Mahashmashana, and he often seems intent on reconciling the two. At times, he succeeds, like with “Josh Tillman and the Accidental Dose,” on which he pokes fun at both himself—“Around this time I publicly/Was treating acid with anxiety”—and the...

Friends Star Maggie Wheeler: Janice’s ‘Oh My God’ Catchphrase is Due to Matthew Perry
Image
Matthew Perry was born with a love for comedy. Many of his co-stars and people close to him often talked about how Perry was always able to make them laugh no matter the situation.

Well, Friends star Maggie Wheeler, who portrayed the role of Janice Hosenstein in the show, owes her iconic catchphrase to Perry’s antics. If it weren’t for Matthew Perry, the world may never have heard the catchphrase ‘Oh My God’.

How Matthew Perry Helped Maggie Wheeler With Her Catchphrase

Believe it or not, the catchphrase ‘Oh My God’ said by Janice throughout the entirety of Friends wasn’t scripted. It was the result of improvisation, trying not to laugh, and, Matthew Perry’s comedy.

10 Best Bleach Hollows, Ranked
Image
The hit Bleach anime is one of many "monster hunter" anime series that even inspired the likes of Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer. This means Bleach features some of the coolest monsters seen in anime in this case, Hollows. These are the restless souls of the dead that cannot move on to the waiting Soul Society, instead roaming the world eating innocent souls as apex predators. A Hollow forms when a restless soul has its Chain of Fate broken, mutating the soul into a monster with a sull mask and a round hole in its chest.

The early story arcs in Bleach established Hollows as serious threats, and by the Soul Society story arc, the anime had moved on to bigger and better threats. Still, even if regular Hollows stopped being so prominent and scary, they remain an essential part of Bleach's lore, and a handful of them stand out as the coolest,...

Emily Armstrong & Linkin Park Spur Controversy With Singer Announcement
Image
Following years on hiatus, Linkin Park announced its return with new singer Emily Armstrong, but the news has come with controversy.

The American rock band, known for such hits as "In the End" and "Numb," ceased operation in 2017 following the tragic death of lead singer Chester Bennington.

Since then, work on reuniting the group has been a bit of a non-starter. That has not stopped various members from releasing music on their own, though. Since Bennington's passing, singer/rapper Mike Shinoda has been prolific in his output but has not put anything out under the Linkin Park name.

“They stopped offering me movies”: Before His Death, Matthew Perry Wished Friends Had Never Ended as His Acting Career Saw a Tragic Downfall
Image
Friends ran for a complete decade, bringing new stories every year from 1994 to 2004. And while some shows lose their spark when stretched so long, Friends remained as charming as ever. After its end, the main actors went their separate ways, but things didn’t work out too well for Matthew Perry, who was facing a bit of bad luck in the industry.

One failed movie after the other caused studios to stop offering him roles and while his time on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and other television shows was “fun,” there was a time when he wished that Friends had never come to an end.

Tierra Whack World Wide Whack Review: The Dark Web of Fame
Tierra Whack
On World Wide Whack, Philly-born rapper Tierra Whack examines her complicated and at times contradictory feelings surrounding her rise to fame over the last few years. The album’s brief opening track, “Mood Swings,” sets the tone lyrically and sonically, as Whack’s verses about her friends’ and family’s concerns about her mood swings are juxtaposed with a mellow beat.

Whack exudes a newfound confidence and braggadocio throughout WWW, sometimes rapping from the perspective of a character. She delivers exaggeratedly low-pitched ad-libs a la Playboi Carti and Travis Scott on the industrial-sounding “Ms Behave,” the titular persona of which is seemingly designed to conceal Whack’s struggles with mental health from those around her.

That façade, however, immediately begins to show cracks on “Chanel Pit.” “I am the shit you smell,” Whack says, and the disgust with which she regards herself is palpable. This could be seen as a...

Tierra Whack Drops New Album World Wide Whack: Stream
Image
Tierra Whack has released her new album, World Wide Whack, via Interscope Records. Stream one of our most anticipated albums of 2024 below.

Billed as her debut album, World Wide Whack follows Whack’s acclaimed 2018 project Whack World. Much like her first debut, this debut’s artsy, playful take on hip-hop comes accompanied by original images and videos. The combination of sonics and visuals fleshes out the fictional character Whack inhabits for the duration of the album, a character who’s described as “an alter ego both untouchable and vulnerable, superhuman, and painfully human.”

Whack went deeper into the project’s vulnerability in an Instagram post that she posted alongside the single “27 Club.” “I was in a dark place for a long time, and no one knew. I found my way out and made a choice to keep living,” she wrote. “I wanna be completely transparent with my ‘whackos’ because I...

Eminem Once Apologized To Rihanna For Siding With Her Abusive Ex-bf Chris Brown In A Leaked Diss Track
Image
When Eminem Apologized To Rihanna For His Diss Track Supporting Her Abusive Ex-bf Chris Brown ( Photo Credit – IMDb )

Eminem is hands down one of the best rappers of the current times and has inspired many musicians. The rapper, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, is known not only for his exceptional work but also for his talent for getting into several controversies. He once received a lot of flak for allegedly siding with Chris Brown, who was charged with domestic assault on RiRi in 2009. However, the rapper and RiRi have a good relationship and collaborated on multiple songs.

Marshall and the Fenty Beauty owner have collaborated on the song Numb from the 2012 album of the songstress Unapologetic. In 2013, they again came together and worked on Marshall’s LP 2 on the song The Monster. Both of them are established artists in the music industry. Hence, one can imagine the success they got from these two collaborations.

Beach Fossils Announce New Album Bunny, Share “Don’t Fade Away”: Stream
Image
Beach Fossils have announced their fourth album, Bunny, which will hop onto shelves on June 2nd. The dream-pop quartet also ushered in their first studio LP in six years with the project’s first single, “Don’t Fade Away.”

Bunny was produced by frontman Dustin Payseur and self-recorded and released by the group. Payseur reflected on the indie mainstay’s sonic progression with the band’s sole founding member sharing in a statement that “When I wrote the first record, there were no choruses; it was instrumental guitar parts in between verses. This is the first record where I’ve consciously thought about writing a chorus.”

The initial offering from the album, “Don’t Fade Away” does indeed include an earworm of a chorus that won’t soon be forgotten, along with more familiar features from Beach Fossils like the warm, jangly guitars over an urgent yet even-keeled beat. Payseur...
