Great way to see the world and see how people live

I've learned a lot about the different countries and cultures through this show. I'm incredibly interested in seeing the different styles of homes and standards that exist around the world. We have see Katmandu, Dubai, Nirobi, Spain, Iceland, Brazil, Caribbean islands, Australia, Vanuatu, Thailand, Italy, France, etc. All of them make me want to explore the areas more. Great adventure and escape. The ones I like the let are France and Italy. Both are beautiful countries but they seem to show the same types of properties when those countries are featured. The others are incredibly fascinating. I am glad that they have added Africa and South American cities into their mix because Europe seemed to be their main continent. Love to see the diversity and highlights of the countries.

Yes, but

House Hunters International is a fascinating show that takes you to the far corners of the world. Recently we saw residential properties (buy and/or rent) in Australia, Mexico, Caribbean, Central America, Spain, Iceland, etc.

You get a chance to see these far flung places and also get a peek at the real estate market. The maps and the videos are very informative.

Unfortunately the show has a formula that grows old over time. In addition, all the real estate agents have an annoying habit of never listening to the prospective buyers/renters, but this probably makes for a better show. In reality, these agents wouldn't last very long.

The 2 or 3 month follow-up is always positive, which suggests some heavy editing. Did no one ever go wrong?

Putting aside the problems with the format, the show is definitely worth viewing for anyone interested in how the rest of the world looks.

Great show

I love seeing the different countries and the new cultures the people on the show integrate into but a lot of these people are embarrassing with the way they act when they look at some of these homes. I know you want to get what you pay for but it's like some of these people didn't do any research before moving. They are so picky and I'm not talking normal pickiness it's extremely obnoxious. Where do they find these people because they are quite picky. Some of the kids with these adults are brats and should've been giving a talking to about sharing rooms. One couple were bragging about volunteering in an orphanage in Nicaragua but when it came to living modestly they weren't having it. These people are clueless.

Enjoyable show, but the constant repetition is ANNOYING!

I generally enjoy this show. I like the format and the glimpse into another couple's or family's life as they make a home buying or rental decision. However, it is extremely annoying to have the same things repeated 2, 3 or 4 times in a half-hour show. Either add some other footage or cut the show to 20 minutes.

This same complaint of repetition could be made for the other shows in this genre produced by same company. I also find the voice of the narrator kind of irritating. Who knows, maybe I wouldn't if she didn't tell us 5 times that Jim & Sally are leaving behind their life in the States now that they are empty nesters -- or whatever.

Renamed 'RENTAL House Hunters int'l'

Like another review, '8 minutes of content in 22 minutes'.

The premise for the show is House Hunting yet 90% of the show is about Rentals. One, maybe two episodes have a couple actually Buying a house. It's a tv show, allegedly a 'reality show' but it looks and sounds way too scripted. That and the fact that they re-review every place twice might make for good tv but a turn off when watching without commercials.

The couples are, in my opinion, questionable. Seems like a female is moving around the world to 'move in' with a guy way too often. Other couples, whether gay or straight, have unrealistic views on their wants/needs. The women, more often than not, play the 'I'm giving up so much to move around the world for you' card.

A Lot of champagne tastes on a beer budget.

Love show

Have always watched House Hunters and international. We are living a show ourselves. We have just brought property in Mexico. We are waiting for our condo to be finished and we will be retiring there. We are working on selling our house here. The process of buying in Mexico is very interesting.

We have an attorney helping us through and a great bunch of friends. Our real estate agent there is a gem and they have made things as smooth as possible for us. What a wonderful opportunity. I hope to maybe teach when we get totally moved. My husband wants to play golf. We both are ready to start our new life.

Other Places, OtherCultures, Better Manners

As an American who has traveled extensively in Europe, Asia and South America for many years, I enjoy seeing the housing details in many places I have visited. It's also nice to see how well in many instances patient, forgiving, native born real estate agents handle unreasonable wishes and expectations concerning space and price, and with couples, conflicting desires for location. But the bonus is watching so many of my fellow Americans make loud, obnoxious fools of themselves because some isn't as big or convenient or as perfect as "back home." If all that is so important to you, why not just stay home and stop giving the rest of us a bad reputation? The show is instructive on how not to behave if one is a guest in another country.

8 minutes of content in 22 minutes

8 minutes of content in 22 minutes. It is a shame. Show is enjoyable yet annoying due to the fact that they repeat everything at least three times. Pure laziness in putting together the show.

What's real

In a lot of these episodes I'm not convinced the couples or job moves are genuine never mind the house search.

BAD AND GETTING WORSE

My wife and I travel a lot overseas (over 100 countries) so we started watching this show hoping to get a feeling of some locales we haven't been.

I don't know if I can take it anymore. To start with, I believe there have been over 2,000 episodes. The truly unbelievable thing is that in EVERY episode the couple disagrees on what they want

I want in the city.

No I want in the country

I want a modern home.

No I want a older home with character

I want 2 bedrooms.

No I want 3 bedrooms

I want to spend $300,000.

No I believe we can go to $450,000

Etc. Etc.

THERE HAS NOT BEEN ONE EPISODE THAT WE HAVE WATCHED WHERE THE COUPLE AGREES. Perhaps the show would be better entitled "THE NEED FOR COUPLES THERAPY"!!. OR FAKE TV

Another big issue is with all the disagreements, multiple previews / reviews taking over half the show, they almost never show much about the town they are going to. This was the best part.

After so many years, I will now become an ex viewer.

Implausible Prices

Just watched an episode in Series 145 of a couple searching for a house in Melbourne and the prices being quoted are just patently wrong even in US dollars. One apartment they looked at for $380k would be at least $800k even when they filmed this. Unless it was shot in 1985.

House Hunters International 10/27/22 Season 176 Episode 10 Growing into Greystones" Worst Realto Ever!

I love watching this show. Matter a fact I record it to watch later. However this particular episode the realtor scolded the nice young couple for expressing their viewpoints on the different properties.

First she told them to be more positive like she was mad at them for telling her what they liked and didn't like. Then she told them no more negative comments. As though they shouldn't say anything bad about what she was showing them. And belive me, most of those properties were old, run-down and dirty.

Where did they find this woman. She was a horrible on air realtor. Disrespectful to the couple, she started bossing them around like a kindergarten teacher. She spoke down to them as if they didn't know what they wanted or liked. Then she got mad like they were wasting her time.

I would have fired her on the spot! No one that I've hired is going to be so ignorantly disrespectful to the needs of the client.

HGTV NEVER HIRE HER AGAIN!
