Kerry Washington headed back to her hometown to receive a major honor!

The Scandal star was celebrated at the inaugural Bronx Children’s Museum Gala in the Bronx, New York on Tuesday. The event raised $520,000 to help fund access to the arts, music, dance, environmental studies, and Steam-based exhibits and programs for the more than 250,000 children living in the borough.

Writer-director Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, Girls) can officially add “Simpsons scribe” to his IMDb page resumé this Sunday — and he owes it all to being a hoarder.

Sunday’s episode, in which Homer becomes Bart’s new best friend after being hypnotized into thinking he’s a 10-year-old boy, was written as a spec script by Apatow in 1990 during the show’s first season.

It's Christmas Eve, and Sony has released their comedy The Interview a day earlier than expected. Despite how you may or may not feel about the movie after you watch it, one thing is for certain: The Interview has earned its place in the history books for a number of different reasons. After being pulled from theaters because of a terrorist threat, Sony changed their minds and now The Interview is being released in 331 independent theaters on Christmas day. After North Korea threatened 9/11-style violence at movie theaters that would screen Sony's "The Interview" comedy, most theater chains dropped the film, which then causes Sony to officially announce that "The Interview" will not be released theatrically. But after pressure from President Obama, lots of Hollywood actors and the general public, Sony has decided to release "The Interview" on December 25th is select theaters, but will not provide any security. One theater owner said: "It's not so much that we believed anyone from North Korea would be running into theaters with an Ak-47, but more that there enough people around the country who are mentally unstable who might use this as an excuse to do something." As a result, most theaters will have extra security and not allow backpacks or large overcoats. Seth Rogen commented on the decision to release the film, stating: "The people have spoken! Freedom has prevailed!

In a change of heart, Sony Pictures will allow any movie theater to show “The Interview” on Christmas Day. So far, nearly 100 indie theaters will immediately jump on board for the showings. Sony will also play on VOD, but major distributors are balking at this time.

Here’s the release:

“We have never given up on releasing The Interview and we’re excited our movie will be in a number of theaters on Christmas Day,” said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Entertainment. “At the same time, we are continuing our efforts to secure more platforms and more theaters so that this movie reaches the largest possible audience.”

When Sony Pictures reversed their plans to cancel their theatrical release of The Interview earlier today, the decision sent indie theaters across the country into a frenzy to book the comedy in time for Christmas Day on Thursday. Deadline reports that Sony has implemented a 6 Pm Pst deadline for theaters to book the film, so the studio can send out hard drives containing the movie in time for these screenings. So far, a number of venues across the country have been confirmed, with several more likely to come as we get closer to the studio's deadline. Here's a statement from one source familiar with Sony's situation.

"Sony has had so many bookings coming in it is now focused on areas where a theater can guarantee a two-week run, or longer. They're so inundated with bookings they are being more careful about where they are booking [The Interview] in all the different markets.

HBO’s Game of Thrones is king, leading the 66th Annual Emmy Nominations with 19 in total, including for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor Lena Headey and Supporting Actor Peter Dinklage.

Breaking Bad‘s final season is also heading out on a swan song, earning a grand total of 16 nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor Bryan Cranston, Supporting Actor Aaron Paul, Supporting Actress Anna Gunn and Outstanding Writing and Directing for creator Vince Gilligan.

Among the other nominees for Outstanding Drama were Downton Abbey, House of Cards, Mad Men and True Detective, all of which, with the exception of new series True Detective, have appeared in this category before.

From 1998 to 2001, Judd Apatow created five TV shows for Dreamworks. Everyone knows Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, but only certain nerds know the shows that never even went to series: North Hollywood, Life on Parole, and Sick in the Head. Sick in the Head's 1999 pilot aired a couple of times in 2003 on the cable channel Trio, and Splitsider has uncovered clips from it. The pilot starred David Krumholtz as a young therapist, Kevin Corrigan as his slacker roommate, and a pre-SNL Amy Poehler as his super-crazy patient. In this clip, Poehler jumps all over the emotional spectrum in an attempt to get Krumhotlz's home phone number. (Think a much more manic What About Bob?) The 2011 Emmy nominations are here: AMC’s Mad Men and ABC’s Modern Family led the TV Academy’s nominees Thursday morning, while two HBO new dramas challenged the pack. First-year shows Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones had strong showings that included cracking the best drama series category. Another new drama, AMC’s The Killing, picked up some honors as well. Her bump topped with a bow, Amy Poehler arrives at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood for a Parks And Recreation Emmy screening Wednesday evening.

The expectant actress, 38, is due with her second child with Will Arnett this fall.

The couple are already parents to son Archie, 19 months.

Jimmy Fallon has been tapped to host the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards which will be aired on NBC on August 29. Los Angeles Times' Gold Derby blog reported that the "Factory Girl" star won out over Amy Poehler, Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake.

Fallon who previously hosted 2001 and 2005 MTV Movie Awards and 2002 MTV Video Music Awards revealed that his upcoming role has been his dream. "Hosting the Emmys has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it," Fallon jokingly said on Monday, May 3.

On why NBC chose the 35-year-old actor to host the upcoming ceremony, Executive Vice President of Alternative Programming of NBC and Universal Media Studios, Paul Telegdy, explained, "Jimmy was the natural choice as one of the most promising and likable young entertainers who will now have the chance to display his many talents on television's biggest night."
