As the private is "welding" on the Humvee door apparently adding an additional panel he is shown running the welding rod down the hinge very quickly. He did not strike the bead, form a puddle, and run the bead. He was simply making sparks for show.
The video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2009) has moments in the two early levels set in Afghanistan which bear a striking resemblance to the initial Iraq scenes in the movie. The first level "S.S.D.D." depicts American soldiers playing basketball near their vehicles before getting sent out, similarly to how Jessica Biel's character played basketball with the other soldiers. Whilst the following level "Team Player" involves Army Rangers alongside members of local security forces travelling in Humvees and getting ambushed by a fictionalized counterpart to the Taliban with RPGs, followed by a house to house fight, in a city block greatly resembling the one depicted in Home of the Brave.
Jessica Biel, Chad Michael Murray and Sam Jones III all starred on shows on the WB network. Biel starred on "7th Heaven", Murray starred on "One Tree Hill" and Jones starred on "Smallville".
