While the "repeating the day" plot is a common one, the filmmakers have acknowledged a specific connection to Un jour sans fin (1993), arguably the most famous example of such.
There seems to be a fair bit of William Shakespeare allusion here. The most obvious is Romeo & Juliet, for the overall story line of the village. The character name Hermia is from A Midsummer Night's Dream (which also has an elopement subplot) and Casca is from Julius Caesar.
