Fred Waugh in L'homme-araignée (1977)

Review by thefuzzydan

Photo Finish

L'homme-araignée

3/10

Worst villains ever.

You thought Green Goblin was tough? You cringe at the thought of Spidey battling Doc Ock? Well, just wait until you see Spider-Man face off against a trio of the most dangerous villains to ever grace the screen: Evil Coin Dealer, Beefy Dock Worker and Bicycle Chain Guy! As usual, the best part of this episode is Nicholas Hammond's earnest performance as Peter Parker. The rest of the cast, including the bad guys, are good too but consist of the usual faces you see on any TV series from the 1970s. The cheapness of the series really shines through in this episode as the sets consist of offices, apartments and empty warehouses. The shipyard and prison scenes are the only ones that would have you believe it was shot anywhere on location. And speaking of prison, in one of the most head-scratching moments of stupid silliness in the entire series, Peter is sent to prison and then later breaks out of his cell in full costume, web shooter and utility belt. I hate to think how he managed to smuggle those inside.
