The music in the intro movie was performed by Queens of the Stone Age. The songs were originally placeholders by Taylor Kurosaki who is a fan of the band that were intended to be replaced by soundalikes but the licensed music ended up in the final game.
The game was made because the developers enjoyed the vehicular gameplay in Jak 3.
The game started development exactly after Jak 3 and there are 10 months of development.
Originally, one of the characters would have died due to a lack of antidote to the poison.
