Grotesquerie Cast & Character Guide
Image
Ryan Murphys Grotesquerie reunites him with some of his previous collaborators, and its also the first major acting role of a very popular football player. Ryan Murphy continues his work in the horror genre outside of American Horror Story and Monster with Grotesquerie, though this project quickly drew comparisons to American Horror Story in terms of its tone and way of approaching horror. However, Grotesquerie aims to take horror a bit further than previous Murphy projects have done, and for that, it brings old and new talents into the Murphyverse.

Grotesquerie follows Detective Lois Tryon, who is investigating a series of horrible crimes in a small community. The case turns out to be a lot more complex than Tryon thought, so she enlists the help of Sister Megan, a nun and Catholic Guardian journalist. To make it all more complicated for Tryon, she has problems with her family, while Sister...

We Need To Talk About Paul Rudd's Round Robin Moment In Only Murders In The Building Season 3
Image
This post contains spoilers for "Only Murders in the Building" season 3.

Over the course of his career, Paul Rudd hasn't died a lot onscreen. Comedian Patton Oswalt shot him in the chest in "Reno 911! Miami," Alexander Skarsgard stabbed Rudd's character Cactus Bill in the throat in the low key thriller "Mute" and I suppose you could count the time where one of his future variants is ripped to pieces in the trippiest scene in "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." My personal favorite is when Scott Lang becomes a zombie and gets decapitated in the Disney+ animated series "What If ... ?" at the hands of Hank Pym. Apparently, Rudd is just too likable to wind up playing the victim very often.

That all changes in Hulu's "Only Murders in the Building" starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez as three amateur sleuths who start a true crime...

Paul Reubens' 10 Funniest Cameo Roles, Ranked
Image
The world recently lost a titan of comedy when Paul Reubens sadly passed away at the age of 70, and it's worth revisiting his funniest comedic cameos. Best known for his character of Pee-Wee Herman, Reubens was a hilarious writer and performer who brought his unique sensibility to any project that was lucky enough to include him. While he will always be remembered for his own projects like Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Reubens also lent his talents to other projects through cameos.

Reubens would often appear in one-scene roles in feature films, or as a guest actor on one episode of a sitcom and completely steal the scene, if not the entire episode or movie. He was an extremely talented person who left his mark wherever he went. Here are Paul Reubens' 10 funniest cameos.

Will ‘Reno 911!: It’s a Wonderful Heist’ ambush the Emmys like ‘The Hunt for QAnon’ did last year?
Image
The holidays are sizzlin’ in “Reno 911!: It’s a Wonderful Heist,” a Christmas-themed sequel to the Emmy-nominated “The Hunt for QAnon.” Can the Reno Sheriff’s Department score another bid for Best TV Movie?

Jim Dangle (Thomas Lennon) is bemoaning his rotten luck – and Matt Damon’s Crypto.com ad – when Terry (Nick Swardson) arrives in the form of an angel to show the downtrodden lieutenant what Reno would look like had he never donned his iconic hotpants to patrol its streets. After delivering on the reference to Frank Capra’s 1946 classic, “It’s a Wonderful Heist” “unloads the funniest, weirdest gags that [Kerri Kenney-Silver] and Lennon can devise without resorting to cheap gimmicks, like character development or narrative tension,” writes Matt Schimkowitz (The A.V. Club).

The Thundermans Cast & Character Guide
Image
The superhero sitcom The Thundermans centers around a likable cast of characters making up its titular family. In the tradition of such superhero teams as the Fantastic Four, the Incredibles, and the Strongholds, The Thundermans are a family of diversely gifted individuals. Their eponymous show involves their attempt to secretly assimilate as ordinary suburbanites in the fictional town of Hiddenville. Originally broadcast on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2018, The Thundermans has since acquired a larger fanbase thanks to the show being available to stream on Netflix, Hulu, and Paramount Plus. Its growing popularity has even led to the production of a TV movie revival titled The Thundermans Return.

Throughout its impressively lengthy four-season run, The Thundermans' 98 episodes mostly centered around the two eldest siblings, twins Phoebe and Max, while subplots would concern their parents and younger siblings. The core cast members of the show remain mostly known for their roles among the Thunderman clan.

‘Reno 911!’ Lives on With Emmy-Nominated Television Movie ‘The Hunt for QAnon’
Image
Click here to read the full article.

Since Reno 911! was canceled in 2009, following its six-season run on Comedy Central, Robert Ben Garant (who starred in and co-created the series alongside Thomas Lennon and Kerri Kenney-Silver) has always had a feeling the show had a second life. “Reno had been off the air for over 10 years,” says Garant of the effort to find a new home for the Cops spoof, which followed a bumbling crew of deputies in the Nevada city who attempt to uphold law and order — but often create their own disorder. “We edited together a highlight reel and tried to sell it, and everybody passed.”

That is, until Quibi came calling, and Garant and his colleagues realized that the now-shuttered shortform video platform would be the perfect place for the show. “We had one of our editors cut one of the old episodes down to seven minutes,...

‘Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon’ Trailer Reveals the Squad Getting Stuck on Jeffrey Epstein’s Island
Image
Paramount Plus today launched the trailer for original special “Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon,” following all-new misadventures of the hapless law-enforcement team as they try to track down the elusive leader of the pro-Trump conspiracy movement.

In “Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon,” set to premiere Thursday, Dec. 23, exclusively on Paramount Plus, the deputies from the Reno Sheriff’s Department get stuck at a QAnon convention at sea — escaping only to discover that they’ve become stranded on Jeffrey Epstein’s old island. (Watch the trailer below.)

The special, from MTV Entertainment Studios, reunites the entire original “Reno 911!” cast, including Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Cedric Yarbrough, Carlos Alazraqui, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Niecy Nash, Mary Birdsong and Ian Roberts.

Also appearing the trailer are Patton Oswalt, who evidently reprises his recurring “Reno 911!” role as a right-wing radio host, and comedians Brian Posehn and Steve Agee as Maga devotees...

‘Reno 911!’ Quibi Revival Renewed for Season 2
Image
The rather incompetent folks at the Reno Sheriff’s Department are coming back for more antics.

Quibi has renewed its revival of “Reno 911!” for a second season, right as the first season on the short form content platform comes to an end.

The revival, which is produced by Comedy Central Productions, recently received a pair of Emmy noms in the short form categories, including an acting nod for co-creator Kerri Kenney-Silver, who plays Deputy Trudy Wiegel. Fellow co-creators Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon will be back to write and star in the new season.

“We are thrilled about the pick-up, but we’re even more thrilled about getting to leave our living rooms for the first time in 5 months,” said all three series co-creators in a statement.

They will be joined once more by Niecy Nash, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough, and Carlos Alazraqui, who all starred in the original series.

Reno 911, n'appelez pas ! (2003)
Reno 911! Season 7 Release Date and Trailer
Reno 911, n'appelez pas ! (2003)
Reno 911! will soon walk the television beat once again, this time on streaming platform Quibi.

Last December, it was announced that Quibi—a short-form streaming service backed by the coffers of Jeffrey Katzenberg and six major studio investors—will be the platform on which the Reno 911! revival manifests. Indeed, the classification as a “revival” is accurate, since this will be a proper continuation of the popular Cops-parodying mockumentary series, which originally ran on Comedy Central for six seasons (2003-2009). Thus, this is essentially a belated release of Reno 911! Season 7, albeit in a shorter form than we remember.

Original series creators (and main cast members) Thomas Lennon, Robert Ben Garant and Kerri Kenney-Silver return to write and star in the Reno revival. They will be joined by Artists First’s Peter Principato, who serves as an executive producer, joined in that capacity by Danny DeVito and Jersey Television...

‘Reno 911!’ Main Cast to Reunite for Quibi Revival
Reno 911, n'appelez pas ! (2003)
Nobody’s goofin’ about this.

The entire main cast of “Reno 911!” is now confirmed to be returning for the show’s upcoming seventh season at Quibi. It was previously announced that co-creators Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Keri Kenney-Silver would all be back for the show’s seventh season. They will now be joined by Niecy Nash, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cedric Yarbrough, and Carlos Alazraqui. Ian Roberts, Joe LoTruglio and Mary Birdsong — who joined the show later in its run — will also be featured. Yarbrough and Birdsong were seen alongside Garant, Lennon, and Kenney-Silver in social media posts last week from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Department, where filming was taking place.

The original series ran from 2003 to 2009 on Comedy Central. The mockumentary-style show parodied the popular series “Cops” and followed the misadventures of a group of deputies working for the Reno Sheriff’s Department. “Reno 911!” was...

‘Reno 911!’ Revival Set at Quibi
The classic Comedy Central series “Reno 911!” is being revived at Quibi for a seventh season.

The original series ran from 2003 to 2009. Original series creators and cast members Robert Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon, and Kerri Kenney-Silver are attached to write and star in the new season. Peter Principato of Artists First will executive produce the revived series along with Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher of Jersey Television. Additional casting will be announced at a later date. Comedy Central Productions, Comedy Central’s new studio-production arm, will produce.

“’Reno 911!’ holds a special place in our hearts, and it will be a delight to get the original cast back together for ‘re-boot goofin,'” Lennon said. “Hopefully Nick Swardson can still roller skate. Quibi’s short format seems custom made for our show.”

The mockumentary-style show parodied the popular series “Cops” and followed the misadventures of a group of...

'Ghost' rides away with top spot
Sony Pictures' Ghost Rider stayed aflame a second week in a row at the North American boxoffice. The new releases, most of them rated R, couldn't hold a candle to Nicolas Cage's fiery vigilante in the Marvel Comics adaptation.

Ghost grossed an estimated $19.7 million, flying by New Line Cinema's Jim Carrey thriller The Number 23, which debuted at No. 2 with an estimated $15.1 million. The R-rated "23" from director Joel Schumacher did boast the highest per-theater average of the top 10: $5,476. But 20th Century Fox's Reno 911! Miami, another of the weekend's three R-rated national bows, barely crossed into double digits, opening in fourth place at an estimated $10.4 million for the three-day period.

The weekend's more uplifting new releases bowed to mixed results. Presented by Samuel Goldwyn Films and Roadside Attractions, Amazing Grace, from Bristol Bay Prods., launched with an estimated $4.3 million from only 791 theaters. The PG film about William Wilberforce, who led the British parliamentary campaign against the slave trade, grabbed the 10th spot with a strong per-theater average of $5,442. But Warner Bros. Pictures' The Astronaut Farmer finished a disappointing ninth, chalking up only $4.5 million from 2,155 theaters for a per-theater average of $2,095.

Of the holdovers, Buena Vista's Bridge to Terabithia grossed $13.6 million to place third in its second session. The only family film in the top 10 held on solidly, falling an estimated 40%. Paramount Pictures' release of DreamWorks' Norbit also continued to attract audiences in its third week. The Eddie Murphy starrer fell 42% to gross an additional $9.7 million, good for the No. 5 spot. The comedy has now earned $74.7 million at the North American boxoffice.

In sixth place, Warner's romantic comedy Music and Lyrics fell only 41% its second session, earning $8 million to put its 12-day cume at $32.1 million. Universal Pictures' Breach also held up respectably in seventh place. The CIA thriller dropped 41% to $6.2 million, putting its two-week total at $20 million.
