Netflix Sets Drop Date for Stefano Sollima’s ‘The Monster of Florence’ Series That Delves Into Italy’s Unsolved Sex Murders – New Teaser
Image
Netflix has set an Oct. 22 drop date and launched a new teaser/trailer for its hotly anticipated show “The Monster of Florence” from Italian genre specialist Stefano Sollima about a string of sex-related murders that took place outside Florence from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s.

The four-episode limited series, which was shot largely on location, reunites Sollima with writer Leonardo Fasoli and ace Italian cinematographer Paolo Carnera, both of whom Sollima worked with on “Gomorrah” and cocaine trafficking drama “ZeroZeroZero.”

Sollima, known for the gritty TV hit “Gomorrah” and movies “Sicario: Day of the Soldado” and “Without Remorse,” spent more than a year researching the still unsolved case of “The Monster”, the moniker given to the alleged serial killer who committed eight double murders, preying on couples parked in cars in secluded places around Florence. “The Monster” always used the same weapon, a 22 caliber Beretta.

Sollima was in...

Before John Wick, Keanu Reeves Turned Down What Could Have Been A Major Action Franchise
Image
Something about the names "John" and "Jack" apparently screams unstoppable action hero. John Wick, Jack Ryan, Jack Reacher ... these are some of the biggest action heroes of the last few years. Extend that timeframe a little and you've got John McClane and Jack Bauer. Go even further and you've got John James Rambo, and that's to say nothing of Jason Bourne and James Bond, who feel very much "John" and "Jack"-adjacent.

Paramount and Skydance tried to throw yet another John into the mix with "Without Remorse," a 2021 action thriller that starred Michael B. Jordan as U.S. Navy Seal John Clark — or John Kelly, as he's known in the film. Born in the pages of military fiction novels by Tom Clancy, Clark shared his origin with Jack Ryan, a character who has been portrayed on screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, and John Krasinski across five films and a streaming series.

Tom Clancy and Netflix's 'Splinter Cell' Series Finally Gets Important Release Update
Image
This year, viewers can enter the world of Tom Clancy in a way they never have before. The first-ever animated series based on the late military thriller writer's work, Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, is coming to Netflix. While updating the rest of their animation slate, the streamer has announced that the series will premiere this fall. The series is based on Ubisoft's Splinter Cell video game franchise, which began in 2002 and centers around Fourth Echelon, a fictitious black-ops division of the National Security Agency. Led by Sam Fisher, Fourth Echelon is an elite strike team that emphasizes stealth above all else.

The original Splinter Cell game is considered one of the greatest video games of all time, and has been followed by a number of sequels and tie-in novels. A film adaptation was in the works for many years: Tom Hardy was cast as Fisher, while Doug Liman was attached to direct,...

New Prime Video Action Movie With 93% Rt Score Quickly Climbs Streaming Charts Just Days After Release
Image
A new Prime Video action movie has quickly climbed the streaming charts, just days after premiering. Incorporating original and Amazon MGM Studios content, among other movies and TV shows, Prime Video houses many popular releases, including Red, White, & Royal Blue and Totally Killer. The streaming service has also adapted various Tom Clancy novels and characters in Without Remorse and Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan. Prime Video continues releasing action-heavy movies, most of which perform well statistically and feature recognizable actors. "He's Clearly Trained That A Lot": Michael B. Jordan's Fighting Combat In Overlooked Tom Clancy Action Thriller Gets High Score From Navy Seal
Image
Michael B. Jordan took on a role in the Tom Clancy movieWithout Remorse that has mostly gone overlooked, but according to a former Navy Seal, it includes some very realistic fighting scenes. Clancy is best known for writing the Jack Ryan books that ended up being made into movies, starting with The Hunt for Red October. The Jordan movie, Without Remorse, exists in that world.

Without Remorse follows the Jack Ryan supporting character John Kelly (also known as John Clark). In previous movies, Willem Dafoe (Clear and Present Danger) and Liev Schreiber (The Sum of All Fears) portrayed the character, a black ops soldier who will get his hands dirty, so Jack Ryan doesn't have to. However, the Without Remorse novel is mostly an origin story for the character, as he seeks revenge for his wife's murder.

DJ Shipley reacts to Without Remorse and praises Jordan's performance. He gives it...

Taylor Sheridan Finds Redemption 4 Years Later With His Michael B. Jordan Movie That Was Wasted Potential
Image
Four years ago, Taylor Sheridan’s name was attached to a high-profile Michael B. Jordan movie that promised intensity and depth, but the final product didn’t live up to the hype. What could’ve been a breakout hit ended up feeling like wasted potential, stripped of Sheridan’s signature storytelling edge.

Now, years later, Sheridan’s circling back with a renewed focus and creative control, proving that unfinished business still burns strong. With a second shot at making stuff right, he ain’t just reviving a story, but reclaiming the vision that got buried under studio pressure the first time around.

Taylor Sheridan’s Big Budget Action Thriller Based On One of Tom Clancy's Best Books Is Finally a Global Streaming Hit
Image
Taylor Sheridan is hard at work in Texas right now on Landman Season 2, but just a few years ago, the Yellowstone creator penned a divisive action thriller that’s climbing streaming charts. Sheridan co-wrote Without Remorse with Will Staples, and it follows an elite Navy Seal who goes on a brutal path of vengeance after his wife’s murder. Without Remorse, which stars Michael B. Jordan (Sinners), is streaming on Prime Video in the U.S. and globally, and it’s one of the top 10 movies in several countries, such as Israel and Australia. The Tom Clancy film that reportedly cost between $65 and $100 million went straight to streaming, so it did not make anything at the box office, but it earned a “rotten” 45% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and an even lower 42% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

Violent Night 2 is produced by 87North founders Kelly McCormick and David Leitch and will be released by Universal Pictures.

Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Season 4 Takes Huge Step Forward in New Update From Jeremy Renner
Image
Mayor of Kingstown star Jeremy Renner just dropped a colossal update on the future of his hit Taylor Sheridan show. First airing in 2021, Mayor of Kingstown was one of the first series from Sheridan to follow Yellowstone, his hit neo-Western led by Kevin Costner. The show even recruited Marvel and Mission: Impossible veteran Jeremy Renner to star in the lead role as Mike McClusky. Although the first season wasn’t particularly well-received by critics, it earned strong enough viewership to warrant a second season, and then continued this trend after recently being renewed for Season 4. The fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown began filming earlier this year, and Renner has just taken to his personal Instagram to announce that it’s officially wrapped filming in a post with a new image that can be found below.

It’s also been confirmed that the fourth season of Mayor of Kingstown will premiere on Paramount+ this October,...

Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Yellowstone’ Is Poised To Suffer a Tragic Streaming Blow After Two Months of Dominance
Image
Once Yellowstone arrived in 2018, it didn’t take the series long to catch fire and become a global sensation. It ran for five seasons before concluding in a controversial finale that aired on December 15 last year, and the show has been a hit on streaming in the months since. Taylor Sheridan’s Western series has been in the Peacock top 10 for 67 days now, roaming around the top spot on TV charts. However, after sliding to #9 on the streamer’s charts, it looks like the show might finally make its grand exit from Peacock’s top 10, possibly for good. Even if Yellowstone does depart the Peacock top 10 in the coming days, its run in the top 10 since going off the air will always be remembered.

Before Taylor Sheridan kicked off the first season of Yellowstone with Kevin Costner, he’d never written an episode of TV before and had only worked on movies.

After ‘Creed’, I Want Michael B. Jordan to Lead ‘Mission: Impossible’ Amid Tom Cruise’s Mega Update

All of Hollywood and Mission: Impossible’s fanbase was shook when Tom Cruise confirmed The Final Reckoning will be his last ride as Ethan Hunt. For almost 3 decades, Cruise has blessed screens with espionage thrills and death-defying stunts. But as the spotlight is slowly starting to dim on his tenure, conversations have inevitably swerved towards who the baton could be passed to.

This is where Michael B. Jordan comes in. The Creed star has already proven his ability to breathe life into iconic franchises. From carrying the Rocky legacy to helming Creed III as both the lead and director, Jordan wouldn’t just be a safe bet, but the Mission: Impossible franchise’s best option; the thought of Jordan leading the next phase of the franchise feels like the perfect transition.

Michael B. Jordan Overtakes a Batman, a Blade Runner, and a Bond as Career Box Office Passes Major Milestone
Image
Hot off the success of Sinners, star Michael B. Jordan is quickly establishing himself as a bankable leading man. Jordan has been around for a while, but he truly broke out a little over a decade ago, after starring in the subversive superhero film Chronicle, and headlining director Ryan Coogler's Fruitvale Station. He has appeared in every Coogler film since then, including Sinners, in which he plays a dual role. Thanks to the success that they've experienced together, Jordan has established himself among the highest-grossing lead actors in domestic box office history. He recently overtook a bunch of prominent names as he made his way towards the top 100.

Jordan's films have grossed a combined total of nearly $1.5 billion at the domestic box office, with Sinners contributing almost $220 million of that total. Jordan's biggest film remains Black Panther, which made $700 million domestically in 2018. He played the primary antagonist, Killmonger, in that Marvel blockbuster.

A Taylor Sheridanaction movie called F.A.S.T. is finally moving forward after years of delays, and a 1923 star is already attached. The main series and its spinoffs, which include 1883 and 1923, have all been major hits for the network, and Sheridan has used the cachet from that property to make other shows like Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and Lioness, which have all also been successful in terms of viewership.

One Of Taylor Sheridan’s Lowest Rated Movies Could’ve Made Michael B. Jordan The New Jason Statham
Image
Before the Yellowstone universe made him a household name, Taylor Sheridan was already making huge waves in Hollywood. However, not every project of his landed as intended, and one of his lesser-known projects of 2021 was Without Remorse, which starred Michael B. Jordan in the lead.

The movie had everything you’d expect from a hit, but despite all of that, it didn’t land nicely with the audiences and became one of Sheridan’s lowest-rated movies. Still, many believe that if things had gone differently, this could’ve been the movie to turn Jordan into Hollywood’s next big action star – maybe even better than Jason Statham.

Why Taylor Sheridan’s Without Remorse was a missed opportunity for Michael B. Jordan?

Taylor Sheridan can easily be one of the most sought-after filmmakers today with a plethora of projects to his name. In this, however, the Yellowstone franchise has given him the most popularity,...

Citadel season 2 has been delayed with the spinoffs put on hold
Image
Last Updated on March 31, 2025

THR reports that Citadel season 2 has been delayed. Not only that, but the various spinoff series are being put on hold. This is just the latest in a long line of issues for Amazon MGM’s hugely expensive spy series. Extensive reshoots of the first season made it one of the most expensive TV shows of all time, with the six episodes reportedly costing $300 million. Yikes.

Production on Citadel season 2 wrapped up last November. The new season was originally planned to debut in fall 2025, but that’s been pushed back to spring 2026. Sources tell THR that Amazon MGM is “unhappy with what they have seen so far of season two.” It seems clear that the second season is having issues similar to the first, which went through some major creative turmoil.

Josh Appelbaum (Without Remorse) was originally the showrunner of the first season of Citadel, but...

‘The Monster of Florence’ Teaser: Stefano Sollima’s Netflix Series Delves Into Italy’s Unsolved Sex Murders (Exclusive)
Image
The first bone-chilling teaser-trailer for Netflix’s “The Monster of Florence” from Italian genre specialist Stefano Sollima has been unveiled. In an exclusive with Variety, the streamer has released the first footage from the hotly-anticipated serial killer series, about a string of sex-related murders that took place outside Florence from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s.

The cold case marks one of the longest investigations into the most brutal serial killings in Italian history.

“‘The Monster of Florence’ is not only an unsolved judicial case,...

Taylor Sheridan's Six Favorite Movies Are Perfect
Image
Taylor Sheridan is a miniature industry unto himself. He wrote the Oscar hopefuls "Sicario," "Hell or High Water," and "Wind River," as well as the thrillers "Without Remorse" and "Those Who Wish Me Dead." On TV, Sheridan has been blasting barn doors off with "Yellowstone" and its multiple spinoffs, as well as shows like "Tulsa King," "Lioness," and "Landman." These are in addition to a modest acting career that put Sheridan on TV shows like "Walker, Texas Ranger," "Doctor Quinn, Medicine Woman," "Party of Five," "NYPD Blue," "Sons of Anarchy," and even "Star Trek: Enterprise." He also plays the supporting character of Travis Wheatley on "Yellowstone" and Charles on the prequel series "1883."

Sheridan has evolved into the modern torch-bearer for Western machismo, and he is often drawn into the dark hearts of manly men. He also seems to love crime stories, tales of criminals/lawmen, and conflicts that end with gunplay.

Taylor Sheridan’s Navy Seal Action Thriller Was Nothing Like the Book
Image
Although he is best known for creating the Jack Ryan character and series, Tom Clancy wrote several other espionage and military action novels centered around other characters in the “Ryanverse.” Among the most popular heroes that he came up with is John Kelly, a former Navy Seal that became a C.I.A. agent and went on several dangerous missions around the globe, eventually taking on the identity “Clark.” While Willem Dafoe first portrayed Clark in the Jack Ryan film The Hunt For Red October, Michael B. Jordan was cast as a new version of the character in the origin story Without Remorse, which Taylor Sheridan adapted from Clancy’s novel of the same name. While it is certainly one of the most ruthless revenge thrillers in years, Without Remorse makes more than a few key changes from the source material.

'Hell or High Water' Proves Taylor Sheridan Should Return to Movies
Image
Over the past decade, director, writer, and producer Taylor Sheridan has emerged as one of the entertainment industry's greatest talents, proving himself to be a master storyteller with the many critically-acclaimed TV shows and films he has helped craft. The Yellowstone creator is one of the small screen's most recognizable and gifted visionaries, introducing audiences all around the world to sensational hits like Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown, and the aforementioned Kevin Costner-led knockout.

While fans may be aware of his dazzling contributions to television, they may be surprised to learn that Sheridan also has directed and penned multiple universally-lauded pictures like Sicario, Without Remorse, and the Academy Award-nominated Western crime drama Hell or High Water, arguably the most well-received and impressive films in his ever-growing resume. Let's check out why the 2016 triumph proves that Sheridan should make a return to movies.

Every Taylor Sheridan Movie, Ranked From Worst To Best
Image
At this point, Paramount must be running out of space for any more titles from television show-making machine Taylor Sheridan. While "Yellowstone" might have drawn to a close, he still has the spin-offs lined up along with the likes of standalone titles, "Landman," "Lioness," "Tulsa King," and "Mayor of Kingstown" nicely ticking along as well. Of course, television isn't the only space Sheridan has occupied. Some of his best stories have been on the big screen instead of the small.

Before we even knew who John Dutton was and what it meant to be "taken to the train station," Taylor Sheridan was making a name for himself writing movies before really having a go at directing them. As with his television output, there have been some weak misses and some massive hits among the movies, and some you might be surprised he even played a part in helping create. Here's...

‘Special Ops: Lioness’ Is Taylor Sheridan’s Most Bonkers Show (and We Love It)
Image
Season 2 of Paramount+'s Special Ops: Lioness concluded on December 8, 2024, reminding TV viewers how bonkers Taylor Sheridan's writing can become. The sprawling international spy thriller is loaded with one unpredictable twist and unforeseen turn after another, proving Sheridan to be the most skilled and in-demand TV scribe working today.

At last glance, CIA operative Joe McNamara (Zoe Saldaña) is forced to deal with Operation Sky Hawk, a spy mission finding Kaitlyn Meade (Nicole Kidman) and Byron Westfield (Michael Kelly) recruiting Pablo Carrillo (Demian Castro). The Season 2 finale sets up a clear-cut path to continue the espionage drama for Season 3, which would continue to make Sheridan the busiest TV scribe working in show business. For fans of Yellowstone, Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, and more, here's why Lioness is Sheridan's most outlandish show yet.

Michael B. Jordan & Black Panther Director's Vampire Horror Film Gets New Release Date
Image
Ryan Coogler's upcoming horror film, which sees him reunite with longtime collaborator Michael B. Jordan, has just received a new release date.

Per Deadline, Sinners has moved from its original March 7 release date back to April 18, switching with Bong Joon-ho's sci-fi film, Mickey 17. Sinners' move to Easter weekend is reportedly due to it being shot on film and "the scarcity of labs to do the work" during post-production. The release date swap between the two films is ultimately a win-win, as Mickey 17 will now have more access to IMAX screens during its opening weekend, while Sinners can receive more time in post-production.

Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six Movie Gets Encouraging Update From Director After 2 Years Of Development: "We Just Want To Get It Right"
Image
Michael B. Jordan's Rainbow Six movie has received an update from director Chad Stahelski after two years of development. The film, based on Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six novel, is set to star Jordan in the lead role as John Clark, reprising his role from Without Remorse. The story follows "Rainbow", a secret international counter-terrorist organization headed by Clark (Aka Rainbow Six), and the apocalyptic conspiracy they discover after handling multiple terrorist attacks.

During an interview with The Direct for John Wick's 10th anniversary, Stahelski explained that the development process for Rainbow Six has involved careful consideration and emphasized the need to get the film right, while simultaneously offering creative room to expand the narrative beyond the source material. John Wick Director Chad Stahelski Shares Update on 'Rainbow Six' Movie
Image
It has been a year since anything was mentioned about Michael B. Jordan’s adaptation of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, but the movie has finally been given a surprisingly positive update by director Chad Stahelski. The John Wick franchise veteran was originally announced to be directing a version of Clancy’s novel-turned-video game series, with Jordan reprising his role as John Kelly from the 2021 movie, Without Remorse. However, since then, there has been little movement on the movie, but Stahelski has now broken the silence.

Speaking with The Direct, Stahelski explained why the film is taking a while to get going, and it seems to be the same age-old story of taking the time needed to get things right. Stahelski said:

"Michael B. Jordan is one of my favorite cast members that I've had to develop or work with. He's a fantastic guy, tons of energy. I think he's got so much potential,...

Rainbow Six's Upcoming Movie Gets First Official Update In Over a Year (Exclusive)
Image
The upcoming adaptation of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six (which many know from the video game series) finally got an update from its director as fans worry about the project's potential cancellation.

In January 2023, Chad Stahelski was announced to direct Rainbow Six with Michael B. Jordan starring, via The Hollywood Reporter. A month later, THR revealed that Daniel Fajemisin-Duncan and Marlon Smith, co-creators of 2013's Run, would write the piece.

The film will be a sequel to 2021's Prime Video exclusive Without Remorse, which adapted another Tom Clancy book and which followed Michael B. Jordan's U.S. Navy Seal, John Kelly—the same person who goes on to create the Rainbox Six organization.

This New Netflix Series Is Perfect for Yellowstone Fans

Quick Links Yellowstone Is Coming To an End Territory Is the Perfect Show To Replace Yellowstone What Sets Territory Apart From Yellowstone Why You Should Watch Territory

Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone has become a standout TV show. It has spawned a universe of its own, consisting of different stories set in the Dutton family's history. 1883 and 1923 both explored the origins of the family, while The Madison, 1944, and 6666 are all poised to explore other parts of the universe. The story of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is expansive, so it is no surprise that it has managed to see multiple spin-offs and prequels. As Paramount+'s leading franchise, it remains a constant presence on the platform.

Of course, Sheridan has also been working on other shows at the same time. Since Yellowstone's release, he has created a variety of other shows, including The Last Cowboy, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lioness,...

Voltron Live-Action Movie Starring Henry Cavill Sounds Great, But It’s Still Missing 1 Thing
Image
Henry Cavill has joined the expansive list of stars for the live-action version of Voltron adapted by Amazon's MGM Studios, but a crucial detail around the production is yet to be confirmed. The movie will offer a refreshing take on the long-standing Japanese animated series under the same title, and will be directed by Rawson Marshall. Marshall's previous work for Warner Bros. Pictures' We're the Millers and Netflix's Red Notice suggest that the upcoming project is gearing up to be a rather exciting movie, although details including the addition of three new stars to Voltron's cast are still being kept under wraps.

The announcement from Deadline regarding the Hollywood star offered no further insight into the character's role or the upcoming feature's story, though it's been speculated Voltron may be an ideal replacement for Pacific Rim's short-lived franchise. Marshall's project has been in the works for a couple of years,...
