Henry Cavill looks set to make our hearts swoon with a softer side after the ‘Superman’ and ‘The Witcher’ actor has set himself up with the rom-com ‘The Rosie Project.’

The film follows an unlucky-in-love university professor who creates an elaborate questionnaire in an effort to find a wife and meets an unconventional woman who doesn’t match any of his “requirements,” but might be the perfect woman for him.

Steve Falk will write and direct the film while Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan will produce.

Jason Segel, Lily Collins and Jesse Plemons have signed up for the Netflix thriller ‘Windfall.’

Said to be a Hitchcockian type thriller, it is further described as a modern-day noir that follows a young couple who arrive at their vacation home only to find it’s being robbed.

Charlie McDowell, who worked with both Segel and Plemons on Netflix’s ‘The Discovery’, will take the helm on the project. The screenplay is co-written by Justin Lader and ‘Seven’ scribe Andrew Kevin Walker.

McDowell, Segel, Collins and Plemons will also produce alongside Alex Orlovsky, Duncan Montgomery and Jack Selby, while David Duque Estrada and Elika Portnoy will executive produce for Mutressa Movies along with Rick Covert.

Netflix has acquired the modern-day noir pic Windfall, from director Charlie McDowell with Jason Segel, Lily Collins and Jesse Plemons starring. Segel and McDowell also developed the story, with Justin Lader and Andrew Kevin Walker penning the script. Production wrapped earlier this year. Sources say Netflix preemptively acquired the rights in a major 8-figure dollar deal.

The film is a Hitchcockian thriller following a young couple who arrive at their vacation home only to find it’s being robbed.

Alex Orlovsky and Duncan Montgomery are producing along with McDowell, Segel, Collins and Plemons. Jack Selby will also produce. Exec producers are David Duque Estrada, Elika Portnoy and Rick Covert.

Segel most recently was seen in his AMC anthology series Dispatches from Elsewhere, and on the film side he starred in End of the Tour. Collins stars in the Netflix series Emily in Paris. Plemons next can be seen in Disney’s Jungle Cruise.

CBS All Access is rounding out the cast for Season 2 of its original anthology series Why Women Kill. Lana Parrilla (The Tax Collector), B.K. Cannon (Sin City Saints) Jordane Christie (The Haunting of Hill House), Matthew Daddario (Shadowhunters) and Veronica Falcón (Queen of the South) join previously announced Allison Tolman and Nick Frost in the series that hails from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, Imagine Television Studios and CBS Studios.

All of them join previously announced Riverdale actress Camilia Mendes in the David Golden scripted project. In Windfall, when a wealthy elderly man dies and unexpectedly leaves his estate to his new caregiver, she’s drawn into a web of deception and murder. If she’s going to survive, she’ll have to question everyone’s motives — even the people she loves.

Exclusive: Camila Mendes, one of the stars of CW’s hit Ya series, Riverdale, has been tapped to topline the Netflix original film, Windfall, which will be directed by Michael Scott.

Mendes stars as Katie, a young woman who abandons her medical profession dreams in order to support her husband’s ambitions. Written by David Golden, the plot centers around a young couple, Katie and Adam, struggling to make a successful life for themselves. After finally landing in the right place at the right time, the couple find themselves in the middle of a criminal investigation.

Filming is slated to commence this month. Stephanie Slack and Margret H. Huddleston are producing for Netflix. Harvey Kahn and Scott are executive producers.

Back during the height of his popularity on the Fox primetime hit “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Luke Perry made a guest appearance on another show on the network, “The Simpsons” — as Krusty the Clown’s “worthless half-brother.”

In the 1993 episode, “Krusty Gets Kancelled,” Bart and Lisa try to help Krusty after his show gets the ax — and reach out to some of his celebrity pals, including Bette Midler and Perry, to host a telethon to revive the clown’s career.

Appearing shirtless as “Sideshow Luke Perry,” the young star manages to upstage Krusty’s balloon animal with an elaborate “19th-century carousel.”

Perry’s TV career began in the late 1980s, with appearances on the soap operas Loving and Another World. But it was his breakout role as Dylan on Beverly Hills, 90210 that shot Perry to fame and cemented his status as a teen heartthrob.

Riverdale star Luke Perry has been hospitalized in Los Angeles, Deadline has confirmed. "Awkward." actress Nikki Deloach will be working the pole on upcoming episodes of "Ringer." According to TV Guide, she'll be playing a recurring character on the show starring "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Deloach, who portrays the mother of Jenna Hamilton (Ashley Rickards) on the MTV series, has been officially cast as Shaylene, the stripper whose murder Bridget (Gellar) witnessed. We'll get to see her in flashbacks when the show returns.

Deloach, who was a regular on "Days of our Lives," "North Shore" and "Windfall" and appeared in "Love and Other Drugs"  will first appear in the March 6 episode of the show.

In June, we brought you the jubilant news that Dwayne Johnson, aka WWE’s The Rock, has been cast in Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe sequel, Cobra Strikes. Director Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe sequel (which is reportedly titled G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Strikes) is gearing up to begin production in just over a months’ time, with largely a new cast to boot.

ABC‘s Detroit 1-8-7 (premiering tonight) has a few stumbling blocks to get past if it hopes to draw in the kind of ratings that are going to keep it around. As much as the genre has a lot of historical momentum, there are probably only so many people can watch.

"Chuck" executive producer Josh Schwartz tweeted a fan-made video of a "Gossip Girl" opening to "Beverly Hills, 90210's" iconic 1990s theme. Star Jennie Garth, who was a regular for the entire 10-season run said via Twitter, "Love to the original cast and crew. And the new kids too."

It’s been said that the new upcoming ABC series called FlashForward won’t be a rehash of the novel of the same name by Robert Sawyer. In fact it’s being said that it may not be what you expect at all.

FlashForward is about a moment in time when everyone on Earth blacks out for 2 minutes and 17 seconds. During that time, people experience visions of where they’ll be on April 29th, 2010, or 6 months into their future (That could be creepy.)

The mass black out does have its tragic side effects - People are doing everyday things when the black out happens and this creates what is described as a semi-apocalyptic moment as planes, trains and automobiles crash with unconscious people at the controls. This weekend, Young Hollywood stepped into the superhero hall of justice to see who will get the parts in the big-budgeted Warner Bros. tentpole movie Justice League of America.

Director George Miller flew in Saturday from his native Australia for a marathon casting session that started Sunday and continues Monday, seeing 35-40 actors test for roles in the comic book movie.

Miller is seeing about four or five actors for the parts of Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and the Martian Manhunter, with a few overlaps. A few nonhero parts might be testing as well.

On the roll call are Adam Brody (Fox's The O.C.), Joseph Cross (Running With Scissors), D.J. Cotrona (Windfall), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Grindhouse), Michael Angarano (Sky High), Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek), Max Thieriot (Jumper) and rapper Common.

The cast of NBC's Friday Night Lights is well-represented as well, with Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter also among those testing for parts. No costumes are involved in the tests, which are being taped as actors read script pages.

Hot off directing and executive producing the pilot for the breakout new series Heroes, David Semel has been tapped to direct and executive produce another NBC drama pilot, Rand Ravich's Life.

Meanwhile, veteran director Stephen Gyllenhaal has come on board to helm the pilot for Showtime's single-camera comedy Manchild.

Life, from NBC Universal TV Studio, is a quirky drama about a former cop who rejoins the force after having spent years wrongly imprisoned.

Ravich penned the script and is executive producing with his producing partner, Far Shariat, and Semel.

Semel, who recently directed episodes of ABC's Six Degrees and NBC's Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, helmed the pilots for NBC's Windfall, Revelations and American Dreams.

The CW has beefed up its programming and development teams with the appointments of Joanna Klein and Gaye Hirsch to vp posts.

Klein has been named vp drama development, while Hirsch has been tapped vp current programming.

In her new role, Klein will be involved with all aspects of developing new drama series for the network, reporting to Thom Sherman, CW's executive vp drama development. Klein was vp development and current programming at Regency Television, where she worked on FX's Thief and NBC's Windfall.

"(Klein is) a confident, funny, unflappable person, as well as being a terrific executive with all the requisite attributes: great with material, a keen eye for talent and well-liked and respected in the creative community," Sherman said.

Meanwhile, Hirsch will oversee day-to-day production and act as liaison between the network and producers on various primetime series, reporting to Michael Roberts, CW's executive vp current programming. Hirsch had been a senior executive at Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner's Cruise/Wagner Prods., where she was a producer on the films Shattered Glass and Suspect Zero.

NEW YORK -- Fox's So You Think You Can Dance won the 9 p.m. showdown against CBS's stalwart CSI and NBC's America's Got Talent. But it was CBS that went away from the dance with the nightly victory in the adults 18-49 demographic. For another time this season, CBS's CSI (9.6 million, 2.8 rating/8 share) and Without a Trace (10.5 million, 2.8/8) repeats -- along with an original Big Brother (7.2 million, 2.6/9) -- rose to the top of primetime, according to preliminary data released Friday by Nielsen Media Research. That was despite a strong finish for Fox with Dance, which brought in 8.2 million viewers and a 3.2/10 in the demographic. NBC's results show for America's Got Talent averaged 7.9 million viewers and a 2.3/7 in the demo for a third-place finish at 9 p.m., while its Windfall (4.1 million, 1.6/5) came in third against Without a Trace and ABC's Primetime (7.1 million, 2.5/7).

So You Think You Can Dance averaged 8.1 million viewers and a 3.3 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary ratings estimates from Nielsen Media Research. That bettered its 9 p.m. competition, CSI (10.1 million, 3.0/9) as well as America's Got Talent (7.6 million, 2.4/7) and Grey's Anatomy (6 million, 2.2/7). But CBS came roaring back with hour-leading results at 8 p.m and 10 p.m. Big Brother (7.2 million, 2.5/9) beat by far anything else on the other networks at 8 p.m. while Without a Trace (10.4 million, 2.9/9) did the same thing at 10 p.m. The repeat faced off against originals Primetime (6.9 million, 2.5/8) and NBC's Windfall (4.5 million, 1.8/6). Nightly averages: ABC (6.1 million, 2.1/7); CBS (9.2 million, 2.8/9); NBC (5.7 million, 2.0/6); Fox (6 million, 2.5/8); The WB (2 million, 0.8./3); and UPN (1.6 million, 0.6/2).
