Watching movies in theaters can be an exhilarating experience, but not every film necessitates such an expensive and time-consuming effort. Luckily, we also have streaming services that bring these films to our homes, offering a seamless experience for movie enthusiasts. However, there are numerous platforms that provide a large number of movies on a monthly basis, making it difficult to find something to watch. Fret not; we've prepared a directory of all the movies that will be available on major streaming services in February 2025, including Netflix, Prime Video, Shudder, and more.

A fun new comedy movie is on its way as the new trailer for Sour Party—the award-winning film from creative duo Amanda and Michael Drexton—teases a fresh twist on the buddy comedy genre.
In a new trailer revealed by Flickering Myth, the irreverent buddy comedy dives into the chaotic lives of two broke 30-something women, determined to reclaim their dignity (and finances) as they navigate the pitfalls of Los Angeles. Audiences can look forward to surprising appearances from an iconic Goonies, Gremlins and Stand By Me alum and a comedic musician known for Pitch Perfect and his role as musical director of The Late Late Show with James Corden. Brimming with satirical wit and wild encounters, Sour Party delivers a sharply feminist twist on a traditionally male-dominated genre, setting the stage for one outrageous ride through friendship, family pressure, and ill-advised get-rich-quick schemes.

Like most fans of cinema, I enjoy reading a lot of reviews; not just to find a worthwhile movie to watch, but also to gain some insight and look into different perspectives on films that I find interesting. I especially like reading film reviews from the past to see how assessments back then measure up to how the film is viewed today, and to examine whether similar evaluations of the directors and predictions regarding their careers have aged well.
We all know how certain movies, like “The Thing” and “Blade Runner,” were poorly received during their time, only to become highly influential within their genres later on. But it’s even more fascinating to read why these movies were panned and what led to their reassessment. With that in mind, I would like to talk about eight reviews or assessments that I found particularly fun to revisit with the benefit of hindsight.

A balls-out funny-as-hell comedy about a woman who against all the nay-sayers is going to run for Mayor against a womanizing, no morals and for lack of a better word Ass-hole who thinks the job is already sewn up. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace is a film that has gone through a unique journey in pop culture history. First, it was a highly anticipated event that marked the return of Star Wars to the big screen. Then, poor reception turned it and its follow-ups, Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, into the butt of many a joke. But with time — and a stellar animated companion in Star Wars: The Clone Wars — The Phantom Menace is remembered much more fondly. But what many Star Wars fans don't know is that The Phantom Menace inspired a spoof titled Fanboys. They might also be shocked to learn that creator George Lucas is a large part of the reason the film got made, as he helped supply sound and visual effects for the final cut. Fanboys' road...

Shaun and his best mate Ed are in trouble. They’ve discovered two zombies in their garden, and the lumbering flesh-eaters show no signs of stopping. However, Shaun and Ed have found one way of slowing the approach: throwing records.
And so, as the two zombies grow closer, Ed and Shaun rustle through the latter’s collection. “Sign o’ the Times … Purple Rain,” Ed suggests as projectiles, only to have Shaun tell him no. That is until Ed reaches a low point in Prince’s discography, the Batman soundtrack. “Throw it,” Shaun commands, striking a blow against the living dead.
The above scene is just one instance of the humor and horror that director Edgar Wright and his co-writer Simon Pegg bring to the RomZomCom Shaun of the Dead, released twenty years ago. Shaun (Pegg) and Ed (Nick Frost) spend a lot of time discussing their pop-cultural interests, even in the most dire situations.

"Go, Johnny, Go!" Sonic Screenworks has unveiled an early promo teaser trailer for a fun new Back to the Future homage / throwback feature film titled Great Scott. It's not really a documentary, and it's not a remake, it's more of a tribute to the life-changing magic of Back to the Future – a bit like that funky Star Wars tribute film Fanboys from 2009. The story follows a boy named Scott from the UK who sees Back to the Future while he's on vacation in Florida, and when he returns home he is so changed by the movie, he embarks on an adventure to "fix his parents' marriage, get the girl, defeat the school bully, and rock the end of year disco." The cast so far includes Jon Campling and Dougie Poynter. Strangely, the director who was once attached to this has been booted off, so it still hasn't even started filming yet.

Paramount Plus is building out the cast of the upcoming series “The Offer,” which tells the story of the making of “The Godfather,” with the additions of Giovanni Ribisi, Colin Hanks, and Dan Fogler.
The trio join previously announced stars Miles Teller and Matthew Goode. “The Offer” is based on the experience of Oscar-winning producer Albert S. Ruddy (Teller), about the behind-the-scenes events of the original 1972 film. Goode will play producer Robert Evans.
Ribisi is set to star as mob boss Joe Colombo. In addition to running one of the notorious Five Families of the American Mafia, Colombo also founded the Italian-American Civil Rights League. Ellen Page and Paris Berelc have boarded gaming comedy “1Up,” with Kyle Newman directing in what could be the first feature film for BuzzFeed Studios.
Berelc will portray a gamer who quits her college esports team due to sexism from her male counterparts. To keep her scholarship, she’s forced to assemble an all-female team and enlists the help of a coach — portrayed by Page — who has a gaming scandal in her past.
The script is written by Julia Yorks. BuzzFeed’s Richard Alan Reid is producing along with Michael Philip and Jason Moring. Production is expected to begin in Toronto in November.
Page stars in the Netflix series “Umbrella Academy” as Vanya Hargreeves. She was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress for 2007’s comedy-drama “Juno” and has credits on “Inception,” “Tallulah,” “Whip It” and portrayed Kitty Pryde in “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past.

All through the weekend, tributes and memorials poured in for Rush drummer Neil Peart, who died last week of cancer at 67. The band’s progressive and distinctive yet ever-changing sound made a lasting impact on music fans during their 40-plus-year career, and it also affected pop culture, by tapping the minds of creative types who went on to reference the band in countless films, TV shows, novels, comics and more. The list of Rush name-drops runs the gamut from “Sctv” and “Gilmore Girls” to films like “High Fidelity,” “School of Rock” and Rob Zombie’s 2007 “Halloween” remake, which used “Tom Sawyer” in a climactic scene. There are plenty more — and true to their self-deprecating senses of humor — the members of Rush have never had any problem making fun of themselves — the band often played along. Below five of the best and funniest times Rush made an indelible mark on pop culture.

Adam F. Goldberg, creator of ABC comedy series The Goldbergs and co-creator of spinoff series Schooled, is moving to ABC Studios from his longtime studio home at Sony Pictures TV with a big four-year overall deal.
Under the pact, which had been in the works for months, Goldberg will continue as executive producer on his autobiographical 1980s comedy series The Goldbergs, which was just renewed for a seventh season, and on 1990s spinoff, which he co-created with Marc Firek. The freshman was just picked up for a second season. Both shows are produced by Sony TV. Additionally, Goldberg will develop new projects for ABC Studios.
Goldberg is moving to ABC Studios after a decade at Sony TV. In 2010, he landed his first broadcast pilot order with the Sony TV comedy Breaking In on Fox. The project, which he co-created with Seth Gordon, went to series, which starred Christian Slater and aired for two seasons.

Now comes the hard part.
On Thursday, the Walt Disney Company unveiled the list of 20th Century Fox film executives who scored a visa to the Magic Kingdom. Once Disney wraps up its $71.3 billion acquisition of much of Rupert Murdoch’s media empire, Fox film vice-chairman Emma Watts, Fox 2000 head Elizabeth Gabler, Fox Searchlight co-heads Steve Gilula and Nancy Utley, Fox animation co-heads Andrea Miloro and Robert Baird, and Fox Family president Vanessa Morrison will all be making the move. Their new gigs have been among the worst kept secrets in Hollywood (though woe to the entertainment journalist who wrote they had deals in place!), making the news something of a meh moment.
What was interesting was how little information there was in the Disney release about what Watts, Gabler, and the rest of the Fox team would be doing under their new leaders. There were a few hints...

Facebook group Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys claims credit for online abuse levelled at Daisy Ridley and Kelly Marie Tran, who quit social media as a result
A group previously intent on sabotaging the rating of Marvel movie Black Panther has claimed responsibility for the hounding of Star Wars actor Kelly Marie Tran. Tran, who plays Rose in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, was subject to a long campaign of racist and sexist abuse on social media, leading her to close her accounts.
On 8 June, an outfit called Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys said it was behind the attacks in a now-removed Facebook post. The group accused longtime Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy of pursing a “feminazi agenda” that had led to the “perversion” of the “canon” of films, which feature intergalactic bounty hunters and their talking robot friends.

Remember those Disney hating ass-hats with the Facebook group called "Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys"? They came out attacking Black Panther and looking to sabotage the film’s review score over on Rotten Tomatoes, but they gloriously failed in their attempt as Black Panther was ridiculously successful! Well now they are back with a vengeance and they have set their sites on attacking Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War and Lucasfilm's Solo: A Star War Story.
Below you can find a screenshot of the latest Facebook post which is a call to arms to take on "Disney’s Liberal Agenda" and what they see as a discrimination against straight, white men. The whole thing is absurd and it's going to be funny to see them fail all over again. It's actually pretty sad that they feel the need to do this. It's a shame that they...

The self-proclaimed Alt-Right group Down With Disney's Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys is back after having their account taken down for planning to sabotage the reviews of Black Panther back in February. However, the group has returned and promises to bring down the review scores of Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story. The group was pretty successful in their sabotage of The Last Jedi in December of 2017, but their attempts weren't as successful with their crybaby Black Panther campaign.
At the height of the Down With Disney's Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys group on Facebook, they had over 5,000 members who believe the liberal media is behind the bad reviews that the Dceu receives and the alleged glowing reviews that Disney films receive. The anonymous leader of the group believes that it's time to rise again and take down the review scores of Solo and Infinity War,...

The alt-right Facebook page known as “Down With Disney’s Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys” is back with a vengeance.
Back in December, the hate group claimed responsibility for the concerted attack on Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Its sole purpose? To sabotage the film’s review score over on Rotten Tomatoes, and those of you who have followed this situation closely will know that Black Panther was hit with a similar barrage of spiteful negativity soon thereafter.
And now, it seems Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story, another pair of big-name titles from Disney, have become the latest targets. As reported by industry sleuth Jeremy Conrad, the Facebook page posted a call to arms earlier today on the belief that Infinity War and Solo ought to be undermined because they reinforce “Disney’s Liberal Agenda” and its alleged discrimination of straight, white men. With the adaptation of Ernest Cline's Ready Player One already proving to be a success for Warner Bros., Universal Pictures is moving forward with an adaptation of the author's 2015 novel Armada. The studio has brought aboard writer Dan Mazeau (Wrath of the Titans) to write the screenplay. Universal doesn't have a director attached at this time, but the attachment of a new writer signals that the studio is ready to move forward after several years in development.
While the Ernest Cline novel was published in 2015, the author struck a deal with Universal for the movie rights way back in 2012, just days after he signed a seven-figure deal with Crown Publishing for the book rights. No screenwriter was set at that time, but our 2012 report reveals that Bluegrass Pictures' Scott Stuber and Farrah Films' Dan Farrah were set to produce, although now Dylan Clark is set to produce for Bluegrass alongside Farrah,...

More than a month before Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time” arrived in theaters, an “audience review” appeared on Rotten Tomatoes that offered an isolated comment from user “Jonathan G”: “Piece of shit remake of a wonderful book.” The “review” posted on February 5, weeks before DuVernay’s big-scale Disney adaptation of the beloved Madeleine D’Engle book was set to hit theaters.
It wasn’t even the earliest “review” to appear on the aggregation site. That one hit the web January 7, when user “Cgf M” wrote in a half-star review: “This film is going to fumble and should not deserve any recognition. The original novel is better than what is already being presented. It’s one big cliche, the acting seems dry, the only performance I can possibly say that will be Good is Chris Pine’s, that’s it. Director Steven Spielberg skipped the red carpet at Sunday’s premiere of “Ready Player One,” but surprised SXSW audiences by introducing the sci-fi adventure onstage. “This is not a film that we’ve made, this is — I promise you — a movie,” he informed the sold-out crowd at the Paramount Theatre, which gave him a long, raucous ovation. “It’s a movie that’s got to be seen on the big screen, and I’m wondering if this is a big-enough screen, because we made this with a lot of ambition to really fill the screens.”
The two-time Best Director Oscar-winner professed his love for the bestselling source material, written by Ernest Cline, who adapted his book with screenwriter Zak Penn (“X-Men: The Last Stand,” “The Incredible Hulk”). A self-proclaimed alt-right troll has taken credit for The Last Jedi's poor fan score on Rotten Tomatoes. Though the man hasn't been named right now, he runs a Facebook page called Down With Disney's Treatment of Franchises and its Fanboys. So why did he create bots to write thousands of fake reviews for the movie? He's reportedly mad at the producers of the franchise for introducing more female characters into the franchise, such as Rose. He also says Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron is a "victim of the anti-mansplaining movement." To top it off, he feels that Poe and Luke Skywalker are in danger of being "turn[ed]" gay, and that men should be reinstated as rulers of "society." Here's the original Facebook post, in which, this supposed troll takes credit for the Rotten Tomatoes reviews for The Last Jedi.

As the latest chapter in the ever-expanding “Star Wars” universe, Rian Johnson’s blockbuster hit “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” flipped the script on more than a few favored fan theories, pushing the newest trilogy even further into fresh territory and unanswered questions. When “The Force Awakens” director J. J. Abrams returns to direct the latest film in the series, he’ll be expected to contend with some major shifts to characters and storylines.
What’s next for “Star Wars”? At this point, just about anything.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” may be one of the most critically acclaimed entries in the franchise (IndieWire gave it an A- and called it it the most satisfying “Star Wars” film in decades), but it’s passionately dividing fans in a way most “Star Wars” films don’t. Unlike the universally beloved reception to “The Force Awakens,” “The Last Jedi” isn’t every fan’s up of tea.

We’ve said this before and we’ll say it again: Netflix is changing the landscape of film. If you have yet to hear our conversation on this very subject matter in the latest episode of Los Fanboys, I highly recommend you do so Here (we talk about it during the Death Note section of the podcast). It’s also a subject that was discussed around San Diego Comic-Con time in regards to the upcoming Netflix original David Ayer film, Bright.
Both Death Note and Bright are films that would not have happened without Netflix. They are far too risky and far too genre-specific for normal studios to have been okay going forward with — especially since both would sport R ratings. In fact, in Death Note’s case, it was a production that had been set up at Warner Bros., but they ultimately passed on the script. Luckily for the production,...

Since Phil Lord and Chris Miller were fired from the Han Solo film, Lucasfilm is on the hunt for a new director to take their place and finish the movie.
Ron Howard, Lawrence Kasdan, and Joe Johnston are all said to be in the running to direct but there's another filmmaker who's throwing his name into the hat and he says he'll direct it for free!
That filmmaker is Kyle Newman, who directed the wonderful Star Wars-inspired film Fanboys. When some of his fans started to suggest that he should take over as the director for Han Solo, he responded with a series of tweets saying:
"I'm available. To be honest, I'd kill it. Was born for it. And know Solo inside out. And am free. As in I would cost zero dollars. I'm not shiny and new. But goddamn could I direct the f**k out of some Star Wars. I have my doctorate in it after all. No fear. Only adrenaline. If it's Star Wars, then I'm your guy. Period. I know Solo inside and out. You'd enjoy my Han Solo radio dramas recorded live at the past three domestic Sw Celebrations. I truly feel like I'm wasting my life Not working on Star Wars in some capacity. I would go supernova and blow people's minds."
The guy is obviously super confident in himself. And you know what? He probably would do a great job! The guy completely understands the character and the Star Wars universe and he could probably do some great things with it. He went on to say:
"It could be a great film and will be a great film."
Then when commenting on Lord and Miller he said:
"Those guys are great and their DNA will still be all over it."
That is unless Lucasfilm decides to start all over again from scratch. Newman also suggested another person that would be a great fit as a director to take on the film. That someone is Dave Filoni, director of the Clone Wars animated series and executive producer of Star Wars Rebels.
That's an awesome suggestion as well that I think fans would flip over! Even though Newman is willing to do it for free, I doubt Lucasfilm will even consider him. I don't think they would take risk after what they just went through with Lord and Miller. It'd be pretty awesome if they did take the risk, though!

Jason Reitman doesn't allow his famous Live Reads to be filmed, but if you've ever wondered what one of those events looks like, Smuggler's Revenge from this year's Star Wars Celebration is pretty close. Fanboys director Kyle Newman co-wrote an original Han Solo story that takes place just before The Empire Strikes Back and directed a cast of talent that includes David Collins, Catherine Taber, Tom Kane, Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Mathew Wood, Sam Witwer, and Warwick Davis in reading the script aloud on stage, complete with sound effects and music in the background. If you're a Star Wars fan (and come on, who isn't at this point?), there's a good chance you'll dig this.

Some people loved it, some people hated it, but Donnie Darko was definitely a movie that captivated audiences both with Jake Gyllenhaal and his sister Maggie's performance, and the fact that the movie was left open to interpretation. It is rare that an open-ended movie becomes this big of a cult hit, but Donnie Darko did just that and fans still wonder today if they got it right about the entire movie being a parallel universe set up to create the wrongs of the primary universe, or if it was simply just a mind f%@k.
We may get to learn the actual truth in the upcoming years as director Richard Kelly is questioned about the reissue (4k in some places of the world) that would disregard the almost unseen S. Darko (a failed offshoot). He is asked by HMV if we could return to the Donnie Darko world in a sequel.
