Masterpiece Of Gaming

This game will set a new trend, I believe, in gaming production. Now that Rockstar has absolutely blown away all the die hard fans and cult followers of the Warriors with an extremely well done prequel/remake in video game format, others will soon follow. I don't mean to downplay any of the alien/predator/superhero video games of the past (*nor Friday the 13th for the NES -1989), but none of them had remake quality where an incredible storyline was interwoven and tweaked just enough so that you can play your favorite characters, act your favorite scenes and hurt your favorite enemies in a manner so enjoyable. The background stories were excellent. The use of the little known movie gangs was outstanding. The game-play was incredible. The AI and 'one liners' had me laughing until I almost puked. Instead of watching the movie, one can now replay all the fights from it in the video game, even the Furies chase and the Punks bathroom scrap over and over and it's never the same each time! This is a must play and must own for any hardcore fan of The Warriors. You won't believe your ears and eyes at how well this was perfected. Obviously, the people that created the game, were hardcore fans themselves and said "I wonder what it would be like to get to fight the prom couple? or have Ajax beat the pink lady cop? Or actually fight Luther 'one on one'? Or did the Furies ever fight the Punks?". They asked those questions. They answered them with class, creativity and comedy.

15/10 Rockstar. GTA series aside, I am not sure if this game will ever have an equal for sheer storyline, creativity and re-playability.

Couldn't have been better

If you were gonna pick any developer to make the classic cult movie The Warriors into a game, it'd be Rockstar. Even if you started playing not knowing they were the developers it wouldn't take long to figure out. There are elements of GTA in this game that blend perfectly with the action and feel of the movie, and make you really believe you're a part of the world of the Warriors.

The authenticity is top notch. The missions are fun and get you right in there, and when you inevitably fail one for whatever reason, you won't mind at all playing it through again. Some of them will have you on the edge of your seat. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses that tie in with their movie counterparts, and even though some of the fighting moves get a bit samey after a while they all have great, solid impact, and there's a wide array of weapons to put to good use. The game also cuts to some entertainingly brutal pneumatics when you perform certain moves that'll make you wince when you see them. All the gangs, voices and music from the film are here, and the streets of New York are perfectly crafted as you scale rooftops, trash businesses, run from cops, steal, loot, pillage, rough up the general populace and pummel your way through rival gangs and their turf. Anyone who's a fan of the GTA games will know that Rockstar don't hold back on brutality, violence and profanity in their games, this is no exception, and it works on every level.

One of the best things about the game is that it shows and lets you take part in the excellent, believable back story to the movie, letting you see how the Warriors became one of the toughest gangs around and giving insight into the events that lead up to Cyrus's big meeting. The content of the movie itself makes up the last level of the game and those fans familiar with the movie will absolutely love the way it ties in. As if that isn't enough, as you work your way through the game, building up the gang's rep in various ways all over town, you'll also come across bonus missions that let you see and take part in even earlier back stories of how Cleon started the gang and how certain members came to join. These are some of the most interesting and fun missions to play. There's also an entertaining Rumble mode that lets you play several game modes with hundreds of different characters from the game and movie, side missions to do around Coney that you can undertake at any time that upon completion grant you special abilities in the main game, and when you complete the main game itself you get a few little nifty extras. How's that for content?

Movie-to-game licenses are always a risky venture and more often than not produce some awful games but I'm happy to say this is one of the best movie-to-game adaptations I've ever played. I enjoyed it from start to finish.

CAN YOU DIG IT!!! Oh Yes I Can.

I've been a long time fan of The Warriors. Loved the movie, one of my all-time favorites. From the opening shots I was hooked. The story and concept was executed perfectly on screen. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen.

As for the game, the only word that can describe it is "AWESOME". I've played a lot of games in my life but very few have ever made me feel like i'm really playing that character. And in this game I truly felt like a Warrior.

The game chronicles the exploits of the Warriors as they climb up the ranks of New York gang scene during the late 70's. Rockstar really did a great job of fleshing out the characters. The game takes you through the events leading up to the fateful meeting and shows flash backs of the gang's origins. The extra content seamlessly blends into the original script and really adds a whole new chapter to The Warriors.

The gameplay is very fast-paced and straight forward. The combat is easy to learn and just as easy to master. While at times it can be a little sluggish, and with some unexpected hiccups with the camera, the combat is very visceral. Issuing commands is easy and very intuitive but the A.I. is very smart usually doesn't need any input at all. And just as fun are the side-missions. Mugging, tagging, robbing stores is a terrific diversion from fights. Missions are varied and entertaining but at times became a little tedious especially on the harder difficulties but only on the latter levels. But the good far outweighs the bad.

The graphics, while a little blocky and occasionally rough textured, get the job done as far as feeling gritty and worn. Actually seeing your character get bruised and bled really helps immerse you in the world of The Warriors.

But the one thing the game sells is the atmosphere. As is the trademark of Rockstar Games, the music, design, and gameplay really draw you into the world. And with some of the original talent returning for voice overs, the game becomes that much sweeter. Especially having James Remar come back to play Ajax again(my favorite).

I can't recommend this game highly enough. It's a true gem as far as video games go and if your a fan of The Warriors you simply cannot go without this. 10/10

THIS is how you turn a movie into a game!!!!!!

To be honest I'm surprised that the warriors wasn't made into a game sooner! Its theme of rampaging gangs beating each other up is perfect game material.

Well regardless of how long it took to come, all that counts is that its here now and that its tons of bottle hurling , graffiti spraying ,face punching fun !!

This is easily one of the greatest games to be based on a movie , not only in terms of gameplay but in terms of staying true to the film . In fact not only does it stay faithful to the film, it actually expands on it -the warriors adds a new back story to the movie that fits snugly besides the existing plot! It really is a commendable achievement.

In terms of authenticity the game excels. The game captures the grimy, gritty , down beat 70s look of the film brilliantly and features hilariously macho dialouge delivered by a cast who for the most part actually featured in the original film!

The gameplay combines the "crime em up" mechanics of GTA with a "def jam: fight for NY" like combat system , and its pretty easy to pick up-you'll be robbin bums for cash and breakin into cars in no time .However on an ethical level you may feel a bit opposed to playing a game in which mugging and vandalism allows you to progress. However if u can stomach the excess then you'll enjoy some great gameplay

On the whole this is one of the best games to be based on a movie. Its a grimy, tough, gripping classic.Great stuff.

Great Game Based on Great Cult Classic!!!

When I picked up this game after a recommendation from a friend I expected a basic Rockstar game. Good but nothing special. I own all of the GTA games and some are definitely better than others. I love the movie, its a great cult film. Just a fun 70's film. (Another reason I bought the game). The game sets itself up as a prequel to the film and is a wonderful companion piece to it. The creators of this game got everything right, the look of the film, the actions of the characters, the coloring, lighting...everything. Great game that expands on great characters from a wonderful movie that is easy to like. You learn how to fight, learn how to get better at spray paint tagging, learn background stories on the main characters. Fun game A++++

Another Smash Hit From Rockstar

Firstly, I have to say that The Warriors film is great. A real cult classic, and I was thrilled when I heard that it was to be made into a game. At first I wondered how they'd get around the fact that the game would be short if they just focused on the film's happenings, but I then heard that alongside Sol Yurick, Rockstar would be creating a Prequel to the film. And I must say they pulled it off well. They managed to introduce new factors and people, but were able to keep the gritty atmosphere of the film. It was cool to see how it all unfolded, having yourself to play as one of the 9 Warriors. The actual game play itself wasn't bad either. We're all used to Rockstar's other major title, GTA and I was expecting something of a similar sort, but it was far from it. The fighting styles and system was fantastic, giving the player dozens of ways to land some lethal moves....and without using a gun! The blood and gore isn't a turnoff either and makes you feel warm inside when you've completed a battle and see your Warrior half dead, but still hanging on! (A little comedy Rockstar addition i think.) It's great at how detailed the game is as well. Not in the sense of graphics or physics system but the options available. Whether it be beating a bum for money, getting arrested, mugging civilians, robbing a shop, smashing things up or stealing car radios frantically by rolling the L3 stick! Another thing is the "Warlord commands." It gives you that touch more power and definitely helps the game progress.....

It's also satisfying to experience such a great thing like The Warriors again. Seeing the gang defending their honour and name on the streets of New York........And it's a superb game, that can easily be played and completed, then played again for fun like other Rockstar releases. However don't expect to be beating it too soon. Crammed full of bonus mini games and missions, you should be playing this title for some time. I personally give it a 9/10

The Warriors Game is awesome

After watching the warriors I played the warriors game and I got to give a hand to Rockstar Games and Paramount Pictures for making this game happen The story is better and different then the movie it starts off different when the warriors first met until the ending of the game when their at the beach. There is more language in the game then the first one and a lot more action violence and fun. The warriors game is the best beat them up game ever made The game is very good and I recommend people to play this game and after you complete the game I recommend Bully it is a awesome game too and also by Rockstar games the warriors game is awesome

Excellent game 9/10

Simply one of the best games I have ever played. Rockstar Games capture the dialogue perfectly, the screenplay brilliant and the game play amazing. The characters are amazingly accurate, but just one flaw in the graphical division - is the Rockstar image getting a bit old, is it time for a change? Who thinks I'm right?

Playing the game for the first time, it all felt a bit Grand Theft Autoey, but after a few hours, you simply drown everything in this game. You block out reality to just concentrate on the action! It gets a bit tense in the police chases, which are brilliant, and the rooftop chase with the High Hats and the Baseball Furies chase are some of the best levels in the game.

This by far is one of the best film to video game adaptations I have ever played!!!

What do ya get when you take a cutting edge, cult-classic film property, and an infamous and very successful game development company with a good track record? You get The Warriors!!! Based on the 1979 Paramount Pictures cult-classic film, The Warriors is a tour-de-force, action-adventure game, which follows and recreates the nature of the film, in terms of the look, the art direction, the music, and most importantly, the Gangs. Twenty-five years after the original film, several of the actors whom were in the film, have left the business, or have passed away.(Notably, the late Lynne Thigpen, who was the mysterious, pouty-lipped DJ in the film)What Rockstar Toronto was able to do was hire most of the original actors from The Warriors to lend their voices to their CGI counterparts, including Michael Beck, James Remar, Dorsey Wright, David Harris, Thomas G. Waites, and of course, Deborah Van Valkenbergh. One staple, in which Rockstar Games titles are well known for is the effective use of licensed music. One of my favorite songs featured in the game is the song, "Shake It" by Ian Matthews. Now for the gameplay! I like the warchief commands feature, in which I can command my set to get down and dirty with bloody results. I also like the use of weapons, particularly smashing a baseball on the rival gang member's face.

In conclusion, I highly recommend The Warriors video game. 5 stars!!!
