Henry Cavill's, 42, James Bond Dream May Be Over After Latest Casting Reports
Image
It’s looking more and more likely that James Bondwill once again be sipping martinis without Henry Cavill. Following Amazon’s official announcement that Dune and Sicario director Denis Villeneuve will helm the next Bond film, rumors are swirling—and they’re not great news for Cavill fans. According to Variety, the search for 007’s next incarnation is narrowing in on a very different kind of secret agent. Amazon has a vision, and it doesn’t seem to include anyone with a speck of grey in their hair. The report states that the studio is zeroing in on actors under 30—a decision that effectively rules out Cavill (42), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (35), and fan-favorite Idris Elba (52). The three top contenders? Reportedly, Tom Holland, Jacob Elordi, and Harris Dickinson.

Elordi is Australian, but as fans will remember, George Lazenby was too—and he still donned the tux for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Henry Cavill's Voltron movie got the exciting update we were waiting for
Image
With Superman flying into theaters on July 11, many DC fans are missing seeing Henry Cavill on our screens. And, as quiet as it has been kept, his live-action adaption of the Japanese super robot anime series Voltron has just recently wrapped production.

Although it only had three seasons during the Halcyon Days of Saturday morning cartoons, the cult following it has developed has kept the Voltron mystique alive and well decades later. The good news is that the movie is set to take that to the next stage.

Producer of the film Bob Koplar recently confirmed that the film had wrapped production via the Voltron handle on Instagram, which left fans excited about the upcoming adaptation.

Henry Cavill's 'Highlander' Reboot Casts 'Gladiator's Russell Crowe in Major Role
Image
Henry Cavill will bring the magic with his highly-anticipated reboot of Highlander in 2026, and the production is really starting to get wheels moving. Hot on the heels of director Chad Stahelski revealing that filming will finally get underway in September, Collider has now revealed a big casting announcement for the new iteration of the classic Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery epic fantasy saga.

It looks like the movie is bringing about a Man of Steel reunion for Cavill as he will be joined by his former DC father, Russell Crowe, in an undisclosed role. So far, it has not been revealed who Crowe will be playing, but the actor shared a post on his X account that could have given it away.

The most likely role for Crowe to take on would be that of Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, the immortal mentor to Lambert’s Connor MacLeod in the original movies,...

Henry Cavill's 2019 Sleeper Hit Has Become a Must-Watch Action Thriller on Streaming
Image
A long-forgotten crime thriller from Henry Cavill’s past is suddenly one of the hottest tickets on streaming — and no, it’s not The Witcher or Man of Steel. The 2019 action flick Night Hunter has clawed its way into the Top 10 on Paramount+, earning a second life after years of obscurity. According to FlixPatrol, Night Hunter is currently ranked #8 on Paramount+’s Top 10 movies chart, bolstered by a surge in viewership across South and Latin America. The David Raymond-directed film has been sitting comfortably in the streamer’s regional Top 10 lists throughout the past week — not bad for a film that made just $1 million at the global box office and got roasted by critics.

Originally titled Nomis, the film stars Cavill as Detective Walter Marshall, who’s investigating a string of kidnappings tied to a deeply unsettling online predator. What begins as a standard procedural morphs into something far more sinister,...

Henry Cavill's 7-Year-Old Action Thriller Finds New Streaming Success on Paramount+
Image
A largely forgotten movie on acclaimed actor Henry Cavill's extensive resume is making a comeback online as audiences catch up with it on streaming. The Cavill-led action thriller Night Hunter has found strong success on Paramount+.

Via Flix Patrol, Night Hunter is now a hit on Paramount+ and ranking #8 on the streaming service's Top 10 movies chart. The 2018 film, which landed on Paramount+ last October, has been especially popular in South and Latin America -- staying in the Top 10 throughout both regions in the last week.

Directed and written by David Raymond, Night Hunter starred Cavill as Detective Walter Marshall, in charge of a task force hunting down an online predator targeting women. However, when Marshall and his fellow officers dug deeper in their investigation, they realized they were caught up in a dangerous scheme -- and the suspect's crimes went far beyond what they imagined. Alan Ritchson and Henry Cavill's 71% Rotten Tomatoes Action Thriller Is Still a Global Hit on Streaming
Image
Reacher and Superman walk into a war zone—and viewers can’t get enough. Last year, Alan Ritchson and Henry Cavill teamed up for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a gritty, guns-blazing World War II thriller that underwhelmed at the box office but is now thriving on streaming, as so many underperformers are wont to do these days. After a quiet theatrical run, the Guy Ritchie-directed film has become a global hit on Prime Video, where it's slowly climbing the charts.

Despite a 68% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences have rallied behind the film, pushing its audience rating up to a whopping 91%—proof that viewers still want their action with a little grit, a little style, and a lot of slow-motion headshots. Written by Ritchie alongside Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Arash Amel, the movie adapts Damien Lewis’ non-fiction book of the same name. It follows a small, off-the-books...

’Paradise’s Sterling K. Brown Did ’The Final Reckoning's Plane Stunt Before Tom Cruise
Image
Few projects this year have earned as much hype in their respective mediums as Paradise and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, and now one of the stars of the hit Hulu TV series has shared an interesting tidbit tying the two together. Dan Fogelman’s series gained steam due to its thrilling twists and storytelling devices, and The Final Reckoning has been dominating the box office, largely thanks to the stunts and action from Tom Cruise. The famous stunt used in Mi 8’s marketing has been the plane sequence, which sees Cruise navigate around a biplane with no parachute to support him. During a recent interview with Deadline to talk about Paradise, Brown revealed that he actually beat Cruise to the punch on this one, but his scene just hasn’t aired yet:

Henry Cavill's Anticipated Highlander Reboot Gets Major Progress Update
Image
Weeks after Henry Cavill's Highlander received a release update, the upcoming remake gets more good news as development ramps up. A new report confirms that principal photography on the long-gestating Lionsgate reboot isn't too far away.

Per Collider, the Highlander remake begins filming in Scotland in late September to early October, a significant step for a film that has been in the works since Cavill was originally attached to it in 2021. This news comes after director Chad Stahelski, known for helming several installments of the John Wick franchise, recently confirmed that the Highlander remake is set to be released in either 2027 or 2028.

“You Can Always See it Coming”: Henry Cavill’s ‘Argylle’ Co-Star Isn’t “Shocked” it Flopped at the Box Office
Image
Henry Cavill has starred in plenty of films to find box office success like Mission: Impossible - Fallout, but as with every actor, he’s had some misses along the way. One of those financial misfires came in the form of Argylle, the Matthew Vaughn-directed spy thriller that hit theaters at the beginning of 2024. Argylle was produced on a reported budget of around $200 million, yet the film failed to gross even half of that at the box office, making it a massive flop. Argylle also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, who recently sat down for an interview with The Independent to talk about her new movie, Deep Cover. During the sit-down, she was asked if she was surprised that the movie failed at the box office. Her response might shock you:

“You can always see it coming while you’re making it. I’ve never been shocked when something doesn’t work.

Henry Cavill & Amazon Working on Bringing "Complex" 'Warhammer 40k' Adaptation to Life
Image
Man of Steel star Henry Cavill is a well-renowned fan of miniature wargaming, specifically Warhammer 40,000. The actor is now all set to lead a live-action adaptation of the hugely popular series, with Cavill now describing such a role as a “dream come true.” However, while fans are no doubt excited (and nervous) to see what Cavill and Amazon MGM Studios come up with when bringing Warhammer to the small screen, the former Superman has offered an update that could add to that anticipation (and trepidation)...

While speaking with Esquire recently, Cavill revealed that work on the Warhammer 40,000 series is still underway but suggested that he and the studio may be struggling a little to tackle the “tricky IP” and the challenge of bringing it into live-action.

"But it's different from what I've done before, in the sense I haven't had my hand on the tiller of things before.

Henry Cavill Shares 'Tricky' Warhammer 40K Adaptation Update
Image
Former Superman actor Henry Cavill is a longtime fan of the Warhammer 40,000 game series and is eager to adapt it to the big and small screen for himself and fellow franchise enthusiasts to enjoy. However, Cavill has now admitted that the adaptation is proving "tricky" to get across the finish line.

Speaking with Esquire, Cavill delved into the Warhammer 40K film and TV adaptations he's working on for Amazon -- passion projects for the British actor. Though he loves working on the game series and its trademark lore, he conceded that it's a "very complex IP" as he and his team work out the creative direction.

“It is a tricky IP, and a very complex IP. And that’s what I love about it," Cavill said. "The challenges that come with putting this on the page in a way that is doing justice to that complexity, that trickiness, and that nuance,...

Henry Cavill's 14% Rotten Tomatoes Crime Thriller Is Making Waves on Taylor Sheridan's Favorite Streaming Service
Image
Night Hunter may have been panned by critics back in 2019, but that’s not stopping Henry Cavill’s forgotten thriller from climbing the charts on Paramount+, the streaming home of Taylor Sheridan’s ever-expanding TV empire. Originally titled Nomis, the David Raymond-directed psychological thriller is now sitting pretty in the global top 10, landing as high as #4 and recently clocking in at #11 in the U.S., according to FlixPatrol. The movie stars Cavill as a weary police lieutenant working alongside a vigilante to track down a serial killer. He’s joined by an eclectic cast including Iron Man 3's Ben Kingsley,Percy Jackson alum Alexandra Daddario, and TikTok cooking connoisseur Stanley Tucci. Despite a meager 14% Rotten Tomatoes critics score and just 50% from audiences, Night Hunter is finding a second life, bolstered by Cavill’s ongoing popularity and a wave of nostalgia-driven streaming behavior.

Henry Cavill Turned Down "Leading Role" in Zack Snyder's '300' Because of James Bond
Image
There was once a time when Henry Cavill was known as the unluckiest actor in Hollywood. Losing out on major roles such as Superman (a role he would eventually win in Zack Snyder’s divisive Dceu), Batman, and James Bond all within a few years of each other, Cavill even turned down a leading role in another Zack Snyder epic, rejecting the part to better prepare to potentially play 007 in 2006’s Casino Royale. A coveted role he ultimately lost to Daniel Craig.

Whether Cavill’s luck has changed all that much (he is no longer Superman following James Gunn’s Dcu reboot and the drama behind the scenes of his other major project The Witcher is well documented) is open to debate, but things may have played out differently for Cavill, who could perhaps have seen his star rise faster sooner, had he not turned down a role in Zack Snyder’s 2007 action epic,...

Why Was Kevin Spacey’s Name Missing From Se7en’s Opening Credits? The Genius Detail You May Have Missed!
Image
Why Did Kevin Spacey’s Name Never Appear On Se7en’s Opening Credits?(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Kevin Spacey being left out of the opening credits of Se7en wasn’t a studio trick or a post-scandal edit. Rather, it was his own idea. It made no sense to most people at the time, as he had just come off The Usual Suspects and was a bigger name than Brad Pitt, who hadn’t yet become the Fight Club star everyone would later recognize.

Why Didn’t Kevin Spacey Want His Name In Se7en’s Opening Credits?

According to LadBible, this wasn’t some clever marketing strategy cooked up by New Line Cinema. In fact, they were against it. However, Spacey insisted on staying off the posters, out of the trailers, and missing from the opening credits entirely. His character, John Doe, doesn’t even appear on screen until about 90 minutes into the movie,...

Henry Cavill's Voltron Live-Action Movie Gets Major Filming & Release Update
Image
The live-action Voltron adaptation starring Henry Cavill, Sterling K. Brown, and Rita Ora has just announced a filming update that is promising for the movie's prompt release, reportedly exclusively on streaming via Amazon Prime Video. Voltron originated with the beloved '80s animated series of the same name, which has seen several continuations and spinoffs in the decades since. Most recently, Netflix and DreamWorks delivered Voltron: Legendary Defender, which comprises eight seasons released between 2016 and 2018.

The basic premise of Voltron is of a giant robot made up of several combined suits, piloted by a team that sets out to fight an advancing alien army. Part of the trend of other live-action remakes and upcoming live-action anime adaptations, Voltron's live-action movie is moving forward. While the idea has been in development for decades, the current version of the project was announced in 2022. The time since then may seem discouraging, but a...

Henry Cavill’s Live-Action 'Voltron' Movie May Not Have a Theatrical Release Despite Having a Star-Studded Cast

The live-action adaptation of Voltron, starring Henry Cavill, is bound to make its way to Prime Video anytime soon. Filming for the sci-fi feature began in December 2024, and it won't be long till a release date is announced. Amazon & Henry Cavill's 'Voltron' Movie Will Reportedly Go Straight To Streaming

Former Man of Steel and The Witcher, Henry Cavill, has several major projects in the works for Amazon. One such project is the live-action Voltron movie which, despite being something with major blockbuster potential, could suffer a somewhat unceremonious streaming fate.

No release date has yet been revealed for the Voltron adaptation, but the movie has amassed a star-studded cast for director Rawson Marshall Thurber’s sci-fi action outing. Despite all this, a new report (via GameRant) claims that Amazon is not planning to release Voltron in theaters, and will instead give the movie a straight-to-streaming release, much like Jake Gyllenhaal and Doug Liman’s Road House remake last year.

The insight claims that, with filming having wrapped last month, Amazon is now looking to release Voltron “straight to their Prime Video streaming service,” and thus go back on their previous “commitment to theatrical exhibition.” This is sure to be...

Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
The Highlander remake moved from Lionsgate to Amazon MGM because the studio is banking on nostalgia IP
Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
Among the many delays in the long gestation of the Highlander reboot, Lionsgate had planned an expansive new franchise for the franchise under Chad Stahelski’s direction, but things changed as a report stated that his “vision for the film fit better into the Amazon model.” It was recently reported that the mystical film, which has Henry Cavill‘s attachment, migrated from Lionsgate to Amazon MGM. The new deal will give United Artists full rights to the franchise, with Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt set to produce alongside Neal H. Moritz and 87Eleven Entertainment.

The Wrap now reports that one of the reasons Amazon MGM is getting friendly with the 80s IP is because the studio is embracing the call for nostalgic revamps. Their strategy is to attract a Gen-x-focused audience that also played into their success with “dad TV” action shows like Jack Ryan and Reacher. Along with Highlander,...

Why ‘Highlander’ Left Lionsgate for Amazon as the Studio Bets Big on ’80s IP
Image
Chad Stalhelski, the erstwhile stunt coordinator-turned-director who transformed “John Wick” from a potential direct-to-video action movie into one of the most inventive, visually ravishing franchises in modern cinema, was ready for a change.

He had made four films in the Keanu Reeves-starring series, with the fourth film grossing almost $450 million worldwide. More importantly, he had created an entirely new universe for Lionsgate and producers Thunder Road that now included streaming series, big screen spinoffs and an upcoming animated prequel. Stahelski would still oversee these projects, but he hankered for something different. He wanted to reinvent a classic from his childhood, the 1986 fantasy film “Highlander,” in a way that only he could – his version would be bold, brutal and 100% his.

Stahelski first started working on a new “Highlander” movie in 2016, but as it finally seemed primed to go into production, TheWrap learned last month that Stahelski’s “Highlander” would move...

Image
As previously reported, the long-awaited Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill as a MacLeod (presumably either Connor or Duncan), has found a new home at Amazon MGM Studios, shifting gears from its previous development at Lionsgate.

Fans eager for a resurgence of the sword-slashing fantasy series can now look towards a potential production start as early as September, with a projected release window in 2027 or 2028.

Director Chad Stahelski (John Wick franchise), who has been attached to the project since its initial announcement in October 2023, recently provided an update to Collider, stating that the Highlander reboot is his immediate priority.

"If everything works out in the next 24 hours, we'll be shooting sometime in September. And in 2027 or 2028, you’ll be watching Highlander," Stahelski revealed. The script for the reboot is penned by Mike Finch.

In a prior interview, Stahelski shared his compelling pitch to Cavill, emphasizing the depth of the character: "My selling point was,...

Henry Cavill's Highlander Reboot Gets a Release Update

Henry Cavill has starred in the adaptations of multiple fan-favorite franchises so far. He became Superman in Zack Snyder's Dceu, played the leading character, Geralt of Rivia, in Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher, and even had a role in Mission: Impossible.

The actor, who is also a major gamer and fan of more popular franchises, hasn't fulfilled all his dream roles, and he's set to check off another with the upcoming Highlander reboot. The upcoming movie recently received a new update that the film's rights were almost secured by Amazon MGM Studios' United Artists and Scott Stuber. In a new conversation with Collider, John Wick franchise director Chad Stahelski teased that the Highlander movie could premiere sometime in 2027 or 2028.

On Henry Cavill’s 42nd Birthday, You Should Watch Him Play a Jerk in a Blonde Wig in This Movie From 2007, Stardust
Image
Many fans would’ve forgotten that Daredevil and Superman acted together in a 2007 romantic fantasy film. A young Henry Cavill wore a blonde wig and played the pompous jerk Humphrey in Stardust, a movie starring Charlie Cox. The film is based on a story by Neil Gaiman, with Argylle director Matthew Vaughn helming it.

It is no wonder that you don’t remember seeing him in the film, because his role was relatively small and the film had a star-studded cast. However, Cavill’s breakout role came after this film in the medieval series, The Tudors. His role in Man of Steel in 2013 would earn him international recognition.

Henry Cavill's Highlander movie gets a surprising update
Image
The anticipated reboot of Highlander starring Henry Cavill as a sword-wielding immortal warrior has gotten an interesting update. John Wick director Chad Stahelski has been cooking this Highlander movie for nearly a decade, and when Cavill's attachment was announced in 2021 it felt like a match made in heaven. And it still is...whenever we get to see it.

We previously reported that Highlander's 2025 filming start date was delayed. Pre-production on the movie is still underway, but according to Witcher scoop site Redanian Intelligence, cameras are now slated to start rolling later in May 2025. The delays are reportedly because Stahelski was needed for reshoots on the John Wick spinoff Ballerina, while Cavill is filming his live-action Voltron movie. Highlander is slated to be the next project the pair tackle after that. John Wick 4 writer Michael Finch will pen the screenplay.

Now, we've gotten word of another shake-up: Highlander may be changing studios.

Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
Highlander | Long-mooted remake going from Lionsgate to Amazon
Christopher Lambert in Highlander (1986)
Lionsgate looks like it’s backing away from the Highlander reboot, and Amazon MGM Studios is set to pick it up. More here.

Here’s an odd story regarding the status of Chad Stahelski’s planned remake of Highlander, the 1986 adventure film starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery.

The film is set to star Henry Cavill and in one version or another, has been in development for well over a decade. Finally, with Stahelski – the filmmaker behind the success of Lionsgate’s John Wick films – at the helm, everything looked in place to finally move ahead, not least because the casting of Henry Cavill seemed like a smart move too.

The studio at one point was reportedly planning to build an entire universe around the movie, with Chad Stahelski in place to oversee things, much as he does with the Wick franchise, Although John Wick: Chapter 5 has been officially announced,...

Henry Cavill’s ‘Highlander’ Reboot Just Got a Mythical Update
Image
It’s been a few months since any news was revealed about Henry Cavill’s Highlander remake, but a new report has just unveiled a major development. It was announced nearly four years ago that Henry Cavill would lead a Highlander remake, with veteran John Wick director Chad Stahelski coming on board to helm the film. The last major update to come from the film was when Stahelski confirmed to Collider in November 2024 that there were plans to begin shooting in January this year, but it’s unknown if that has come to fruition. A new report from Deadline reports that United Artists, a subsidiary of Amazon MGM Studios, is in final negotiations to acquire the film for distribution. Michael Finch will pen the script for the film after previously writing John Wick: Chapter 4.

‘Highlander’ Reboot with Henry Cavill Moves from Lionsgate to Amazon MGM and United Artists
Image
The Highlander cannot die! After originally being set up at Lionsgate as a potential new universe of movies from the director of the “John Wick” series, director Chad Stahelski’s remake of the 1980s cult film “Highlander” is changing sides.

Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists, as led by former Netflix film chief Scott Stuber, are in final negotiations to secure the rights to remake a new version of “Highlander,” again with the aim to release the film in theaters.

Instead of yet another new take on it, Stahelski is still attached to direct, and “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill is still attached to star (looks like all of that sword training he told CinemaCon crowds he was doing won’t go to waste). Michael Finch (“John Wick: Chapter 4”) is writing the screenplay. United Artists too still has hopes that the film could be developed into a larger new series.

Henry Cavill’s ‘Highlander’ Departing Lionsgate for Amazon MGM Studios, United Artists
Henry Cavill at an event for Le Ministère de la Sale Guerre (2024)
A year ago, Lionsgate flew Henry Cavill to Las Vegas, where he charmed audiences at CinemaCon with tales of the extensive sword training he was undergoing to star in Highlander for the studio. The project had been in development for almost a decade with filmmaker Chad Stahelski, but finally seemed to be moving forward.

Now, that project is indeed still moving forward, but it will be headed to Amazon MGM Studios’ United Artists, which is in final negotiations to acquire the package from Lionsgate. The film is intended as a theatrical play.

At one time, Lionsgate was plotting an entire universe for Highlander, with Stahelski to oversee it all. But the new deal will give UA full rights to the franchise, which dates back to the 1986 feature about immortal warriors starring Christopher Lambert and Sean Connery. As the tagline “there can only be one,” suggests, these warriors are pitted in battle agaisnt one another.

The Newest Batman Movie Fixes 1 of Zack Snyder's Worst Dceu Mistakes
Image
One of the most contentious points of the DC filmverse is the vision that Zack Snyder's Dceu charted. Many fans thought it lacked heart and soul. They believed movies like Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice were too violent, bleak and devoid of the warmth and inspiration that the Marvel Cinematic Universe inculcated into its tapestry.

Anime course corrected one of Snyder's biggest mistakes — his grim and soulless depiction of Superman. It comes courtesy of Warner Bros. Japan as Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League. The anime film elevates two of DC's most iconic heroes in the way Snyder ultimately failed to do years ago when he helmed the Dceu.
