Transformers: Age of the Primes Brings Back Red Alert After More Than 20 Years
Image
The next version of the main Transformers toy line is focused mainly on the Primes, especially those that came before Optimus Prime. However, one anime-derived Autobot showcases the secondary purpose of the new toy line.

Besides featuring the Dynasty of the Primes, Transformers: Age of the Primes will also feature new toys from characters across different timelines and continuities. These include Red Alert, the Autobot medic from the anime Transformers: Armada. Receiving his first new toy in years, the character's presence in the new line proves that the Primes won't be the only focus.

This Anime Studio Is Perfect for a New Transformers Anime
Image
The Transformers have rolled out across several mediums, with one of these being anime. Ever since the days of Generation 1, the robots in disguise are as much of a Japanese property as they are Western characters. Now, a recent celebration of the brand's legacy showcases just how perfect the current climate is for a new Transformers anime series.

Recently, Studio Trigger released an anniversary video showcasing the history of the Transformers franchise, from G1 to now. In doing so, it proved that anime is a great medium to portray these characters, especially with how popular anime as a whole has gotten across the globe. Add in the studio's experience with reviving a similar brand, and it's clearly a match made on Cybertron.

Worst Transformers Characters from the Unicron Trilogy
Image
The Unicron Trilogy of anime within the Transformers franchise was the definitive take on the brand in the early 2000s, and it was full of both familiar and new faces. Many of these became the best parts of these anime, namely the shows' take on Starscream. Sadly, not every character was a winner, with some of them actually dragging the shows down.

The Unicron Trilogy had its fair share of disliked characters, be they Autobots, Decepticons or anyone in between. This included Cybertronians who were barely developed and one of the most disliked human sidekicks in the franchise. As a result, those cast members are largely considered the worst part of these shows, dragging down an otherwise decent anime trilogy.

Delisted ‘Deadpool’ and ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance’ Games May Return?
Image
With Deadpool & Wolverine hauling in over a billion bucks at the box office, it’s surprising that we haven’t seen more tie-in merchandise arriving. Sure, there’s Fortnite stuff, but what about something like video games?

There’s some speculation that the previously released Deadpool and Marvel Ultimate Alliance console titles and a throwback classic from the Xbox 360 era may be up for re-release. But how likely is it?

One of the XboxEra podcast hosts alleges that the long-delisted action game and Marvel RPG could be resurrected on the Xbox Series S. Since Microsoft purchased Activision, the company behind the publication of the two titles, it’s entirely possible.

Would Marvel be interested in revisiting licensing for more than a decade-old games? In Marvel Ultimate Alliance’s case, it’s 18 years since the title landed on the Xbox 360.

It’s all a rumor.

Both briefly returned in the mid-to-late...

The Unicron Trilogy's Best Transformers
Image
There have been multiple Transformers anime throughout the franchise's 40 years of existence, with the initial examples of this being in the Generation 1 continuity. These shows continued, or at least were derived from, the classic 1984 cartoon that started it all. Perhaps the most popular anime in the franchise, however, defined the property for most of the early 2000s.

The Unicron Trilogy was a set of three popular Transformers anime: Transformers: Armada, Transformers: Energon and Transformers: Cybertron. While familiar faces such as Optimus Prime and Megatron were present in each show, there were a host of characters who, in some cases, debuted in these anime. Along with unique new robots in disguise, the shows also had what was possibly the best take on a particular Decepticon, making the Unicron Trilogy a must-watch for Transformers fans.

Transformers' Starscream Gets a 'Super' Glow-Up With New Armada-Inspired Toy

The Transformers franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a major way, with several new figures recoloring existing toys in nostalgic color schemes. Referencing other characters from throughout the brand's history, one of these toys represents one of Starscream's biggest glow-ups.

Via Hakabanogarou, The Transformers: Legacy "Super Starscream" repaints the previous figure from the line, showcasing the character's incarnation from the Transformers: Armada anime series. Depicting his final form, the figure theoretically constitutes two characters in one. This is along with other figures based on robots in disguise from the series' history, such as a dark version of Optimus Prime.

Optimus Prime is undoubtedly the most iconic character in the entire Transformers franchise. He never fails to make an appearance, no matter the continuity. His reputation as the Autobots' noble leader has remained a franchise staple for nearly forty years. Optimus Prime is one in a long line of Primes spanning the millennia of Transformers history, dating back to the dawn of life on Cybertron.

The Primes have helped shape the history of Cybertron for millions of years, acting as great leaders or cruel tyrants. This honored legacy has weighed heavily on the humble Optimus, playing a big role in transforming him into the legendary leader he is today. Each member inspires him with their heroics or acts as a grim warning on how not to lead.

Hopes High For Deadpool Game's Return After New Activision Update
Image
The Deadpool game may return after Activision relists older Transformers games. The Deadpool game's return could boost sales of the upcoming film. High Moon Studios' games, including Deadpool, gained cult status.

The official Deadpool game may be a thing of the past but after a recent update to some of Activision's older licensed projects, there's new hope the Merc with the Mouth's first solo video game may soon be relisted on various platforms. Released in 2013 and developed by High Moon Studios, Deadpool made a splash as it won plenty of praise from the characters' fans, even if critics were lukewarm on its combat and progression system. Despite this, it's becoming a cult classic, making its inaccessibility on modern hardware a frustration for many.

Fortunately, that may be about to change as Reddit user tr7272 shared a post that several older Transformers games published by Activision have seemingly been relisted on...

Transformers: Optimus Prime evolution From G1
Image
Transformers has many characters that evolve from the original 1984 series. Optimus Prime serves as an impressive paragon of growth and evolution over the many iterations of his iconic character. Optimus Prime's evolution showed him grow from a strong leader to a soldier with a dark side and themany struggles that came with those changes.

The Transformers franchise launched in 1984 with the Hasbro line of toys. Based on the conflict between the heroic Autobots and the hostile Decepticons, Transformers has a myriad of stories in the form of comics, movies, and animated television series that accompany the toys. The first media tie-ins were originally created with the intent of helping sell the toys, but what really makes Transformers popular isn’t the exciting merchandise but the characters that are at the center of the stories. No character embodies this better than the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime.

Transformers: The Movie Changed Vehicle Designs for Decades
Image
While the battles between the Autobots and Decepticons have always been a great source of story and drama for The Transformers, it was never the main pull. As the name of the franchise would explain, what has always brought in its fans has been the ability for robots to hide in plain sight as any type of vehicle. This also translated well into toy form and brought a whole new level of play for its fans that have never been topped. But the franchise was put to the test in The Transformers: The Movie and affected future entries for decades to come.

The Transformers: The Movie was a feat in animation and proved that even beloved cartoons could make the leap into a big blockbuster. However, it also had the unforgiving task of killing off many of its classic characters to introduce new ones. This included the death of Optimus Prime,...

First Official Poster For Transformers: The Last Knight Released
Here's your first official promotional image for Michael Bay's Transformers: The Last Knight. A version of this poster was first spotted in NYC last month but the official image provides a clearer look at the three-headed monster Optimus Prime is facing down. Transformer experts were quick to point out that the only three-headed Dragon among the Decepticons was the villainous Scourge from the Transformers: Cybertron cartoon. It's also possible this is a new transformation for Megatron, who has been confirmed to return for this installment. Among the humans, Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as Cade Yeager while Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael make their franchise debut. The Last Knight will be the first Transformers production since a Writer's Room was formed to create a Transformers Cinematic Universe for Paramount. As such, perhaps we'll see a greater focus on storytelling instead of the usual nonstop action and explosions? Get ready for battle.

Optimus Prime Fights a Three-Headed Dragon on Billboard for Transformers: The Last Knight
Here's a photo of a New York City billboard for Transformers: The Last Knight that's surfaced, thanks to the people at Seibertron. As you can see, it includes Optimus Prime facing off against a three-headed mechanized dragon of some sort. You can get a closer look in these images:

As io9 helpfully points out:

Megatron has transformed into a dragon mode in a few Transformers stories, beginning back in the Beast Wars cartoon, and he even had a two-headed dragon mode in Robots in Disguise. However, the only robot that’s ever also been a three-headed dragon is Scourge in the Transformers: Cybertron cartoon (he’s one of the Decepticons on Animatron, the Beast Planet).

Apparently there's also a dragon connection with the very first episode of the animated series, in which Optimus and the crew get sent back to the mythical time of King Arthur. That was just a...

‘Transformers Devastation’ Review (PS4)
In the history of video games there have been a Lot of Transformers games; from the 1986 Japan-only Nes game Mystery of Convoy (later available in some countries via Nintendo’s Virtual Console) to the more recent Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark. And when it comes to video games Transformers titles are definitely a mixed bag – the last title I actualy found myself Really enjoying was 2010′s on-rails Wii shooter Transformers: Cybertron Adventures, which was based on the War For Cybertron comic and toy line rather than the cartoon.

Unbelievably, at least in the West, there hasn’t a video game based on the original G1 iteration of the franchise since the 1980s (not counting the mobile phone turned-based title) and the era of the Spectrum and Commodroe 64, making Transformers Devastation something of a big deal in the Transformers community. It’s safe to say, on that basis alone,...

'Smallville' Begins Casting Darkseid's Minions
During the San Diego Comic-Con International, it was confirmed that Darkseid and the evil New Gods of Apokolips will be heavily featured during the tenth and final season of "Smallville." And while there is currently no announcement as to who will portray Darkseid on the series, two of his primary followers have already been cast.

Steve Byers (pictured) will play Desaad and Michael Daingerfield will step into the role of Gordon Godfrey in the third episode of the season, according to Kryptonsite. The episode is entitled "Supergirl" and also features the previously announced return of Laura Vandervoort as Kara.

Desaad is one of Darkseid's main henchmen in the original "New Gods" stories by Jack Kirby. In the miniseries "Legends," Glorious Godfrey — another agent of Darkseid — took on the name Gordon Godfrey as he led a campaign of fear and hate against all superheroes.

Byers is perhaps best known for his...
