The final season of "Futurama" will feature a return appearance by Fry's faithful dog, Seymour -- and he'll have a speaking role.
To give voice to the character, last seen in the 2002 episode "Jurassic Bark," the show has turned to someone with experience in the dog-voicing field: Seth MacFarlane.
"This will be Seymour's first and only spoken dialogue," "Futurama" co-creator David X. Cohen tells EW. "Since Seth voices 'Family Guy's' talking dog, Brian, we thought it would be funny to have him blatantly rip himself off for our benefit. As an added bonus, the only person he can sue is himself, so we're off the hook."

With this being an election year, it makes plenty of sense for Futurama to satirize the process. Too much sense, in fact, as "Decision 3012" was middle-of-the-road for the series, even if it was a good excuse for more Richard Nixon shenanigans.
This was a very thinly-veiled allegory for the political happenings of the past few years, especially the birther movement. (Earth Certificates instead of birth certificates... get it?!?)
Futurama decided to go with the twist that candidate Chris Travers didn't have an Earth Certificate yet because he was from the future. Apparently the Earth Constitution doesn't have a minimum age to be president. It's a shame we do have now, because Blue Ivy Carter would be a fantastic president.

We're almost completely dependent on the BBC for new programming heading our way this week. But Channel 4 brings us a return of a series midstream, with episode 13 of season 4 of The Big Bang Theory. Although the nasal whining can get a bit much at times, there's lots of geeky goodness to be found in the show, with guaranteed references to games, shows and films we know well and love. We have a Lazy Geek's Guide here that may help you decide if it's worth the couch commitment, and The Love Car Displacement episode airs tonight, Friday July 8th, at 11:05pm.

I've seen the entire season (as well as all the previous episodes) and love the show to death. The episodes include the finale The Futurama Holiday Spectacular, which is an anthology of three holiday stories to warm your heart and charm your socks. Holidays included are Xmas (that's 'Christmas' - of the Future!), Robanukah, and Kwanzaa, and includes guests such as Al Gore and Coolio.
The labeling itself may trick the uninitiated - while it is Volume 5, it is actually the sixth season. The 'real' fifth season was a series of feature length Futurama programs (e.g., Bender's Big Score) that were chopped up to make an impromptu season for Comedy Central.

Comedy Central has been very generous with the Futurama tidbits. They have been posting a new sketch, scene, character design or plot detail every day, as a lead in to the triumphant return of Futurama.
Unfamiliar with Futurama? Here is what you need to know. Futurama is the other show by The Simpsons' creator Matt Groening. The show centers on Philip J. Fry, a 20th century pizza delivery boy that accidentally gets frozen for 1000 years. He awakens in New New York, a future inhabited by robots, aliens, mutants from below the surface and animated heads in jars (including the Earthican President Richard Nixon). Fry finds himself what family he had, in a withered and aged scientist-cum-entrepreneur Professor Hubert Farnsworth, who beyond inventing such world changing devices as the smell-o-scope and the first robot to qualify for a boat loan, owns and operates Planet Express, an intergalactic package delivery service.

Last year we learned the Comedy Central has been looking to develop new "Futurama" episodes and begin airing them in 2010. But then came news that most of the voice actors would be replaced in order to save some money. Everything ended up working out and it has already been confirmed that Billy West (Philip Fry), John Dimaggio (Bender) and Katey Sagal (Leela) will all be returning. And Comedy Central has now revealed that the first episode will air on Thursday, June 24th at 10pm. "Futurama" launched in 1999 on Fox and aired through 2003. Futurama returns this June with all-new episodes! Last June we reported that brand new episodes of the animated series Futurama were going to be aired sometime this year on Comedy Central and now we know exactly when. HitFix is reporting that Comedy Central will begin airing these brand new Futurama episodes starting on Thursday, June 24 at 10 Pm Et.
Back in July we also reported that the show would receive a 26-episode order of new original episodes and that the entire original voice cast - Katey Segal, Billy West, John Dimaggio, Maurice Lamarche and Tress MacNeille - were returning to the show.
The first new episode slated to air on June 24 will be the first original Futurama episode to air since 2003. The order came off the success of the four straight-to-dvd animated Futurama DVD's: Futurama: Bender's Big Score, Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs, Futurama: Bender's Game and Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder.

Pixar's Ratatouille leads the pack in the International Animated Film Society (ASIFA-Hollywood) competition field with 13 feature nominations, including best animated feature as well as individual nominations for directing, writing, character animation, animated effects (two nominations), production design, storyboarding, character design, character animation, music and voice acting (three nominations).
