The theory that Vernon and Petunia Dursley mistreated Harry because of the Horcrux in him is false, as the books reveal they were terrible even before meeting him. Horcruxes need close emotional or physical proximity to affect a person, and the Dursleys did not share this connection with Harry. If the Horcrux theory were true, other characters close to Harry, like Ron and Hermione, would have been influenced as well, but they remained unaffected. Thus, Vernon's behavior was not due to the Horcrux.
A popular Harry Potter theory claims that Vernon and Petunia Dursley were bad because of prolonged exposure to Voldemort's Horcrux, but details throughout the series prove this false. The Dursleys resented their nephew's magical ability and treated Harry horribly as a result. For ten years, he was kept in a cupboard under the stairs, was forced to survive on the family's scraps, and was lied to...

Anime is such a rewarding storytelling medium because it's able to tackle any idea imaginable, no matter the genre or how niche of an idea. Different anime cater towards different demographics and shonen series are those that are designed for younger male audiences. Shonen series can still cover radically unique territory and the demographic includes everything from Yu Yu Hakusho to Death Note to Gintama. Different trends have influenced shonen series over time, and it's fascinating when like-minded properties emerge and build upon each other's energy.
Dragon Ball is often cited as the grandfather of modern shonen series, but there's a lot of discussion around shonen's "Dark Trio" and how they're a contemporary counterpoint to shonen's previous "Big Three." Unsurprisingly, the Dark Trio's series are all gloomier than the Big Three. However, there are many more nuanced eccentricities that make up these celebrated anime. There are now anime adaptations...

The Disney Trio of streaming services is three, three, three times the fun for Disney — even if it’s not exactly three times the revenue for Disney.
Disney’s Trio — Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu — runs $12.99 per month for the “Basic” plan (with ads) or $19.99 for the ad-free “Premium” plan. The combination provides a clear value to consumers: Trio Basic is a savings of 49 percent vs. subscribing to each service individually; without ads, it’s a 44 percent savings. (Disney is happy to give you a bigger break on subscription price in exchange for the advertising revenue; details on the options are here.)
But where the bundle really pays off for Disney is in a subscriber’s loyalty. The Disney Bundle, a term generally reserved for the Trio (there is also a Duo of ad-supported Hulu and Disney+ for $9.99 that falls under the “Disney Bundle” banner), has the lowest churn (the amount...

Every era of anime has its defining shows and heroes who represent the sensibilities of the time they symbolize. In the 1990s, Neon Genesis Evangelion's Shinji redefined the image of a mecha protagonist, and Dragon Ball Z's Goku took over the shonen genre. In the early 2000s, Shonen Jump's Big Three showed everyone the new ideal shonen hero in Luffy, Naruto, and Ichigo.

In the early 2000s, Bleach, Naruto, and One Piece were unofficially hailed as the "Shonen Jump Big Three." These shows were pivotal to introducing anime to newcomers, and for cementing anime's worldwide popularity. But like any other trend, the Big Three eventually passed the spotlight to a successor: the so-called Dark Trio.

It seems only apt that after decades at the top of her game, Michelle Yeoh finally triumphed at the Oscars this year with a performance that transcends both genres and languages. At times, Everything Everywhere All At Once even feels like a greatest hits montage of Yeoh’s already multi-faceted career – blending her most physical performances with her most emotional – going all-in on everything from her monstrous matriarchs to those hard-nosed cops; the delicate wuxia and the properly gnarly face-kicking.
After all, The Yeoh’s journey from Malaysian pageant winner to world-renowned action icon has been anything but straight-forward; there’s any number of reasons she’s as celebrated as she is in genre circles. The Far East Film Festival in Italy’s Udine will open with a double bill of He Shuming’s “Ajoomma” and Kai Ko’s “Bad Education.” It will close with Zhang Yimou’s blockbuster period epic “Full River Red.”

The new age of Shonen anime and manga has taken a decidedly dark turn, reflecting the new generation of fans the same way One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach did in the era before. And with the premiere episode of Hell’s Paradise debuting on April 1, “The dark trio of Shonen” have all arrived from the printed page to the small screen. Hell’s Paradise, Chainsaw Man, and Jujutsu Kaisen debuted as manga in 2016, each dealing with demons, devils, ghosts, sorcerers, and morbid storylines. First was Hell’s Paradise, which follows the ruthless assassin Gabimaru, now on death row with only one way out: retrieve the Elixir of Life from a sinister island filled with fellow convicts and demonic beasts alongside his handler Yamada Asaemon Sagiri. Then Jujutsu Kaisen followed up, focusing on Yuji, who enrolls in a school’s occult club, unaware that its members are actual sorcerers. After getting caught up in a demonic entity’s scheme,...

With the shutdown of the Nintendo eShop imminent, many worthwhile Nintendo 3Ds exclusives will become unavailable, or at least very hard to find. The eShop closure will affect both 3Ds and Wii U users, furthering the discontinuation trend that began in 2019 with the end of the Wii Shop Channel.
It will unfortunately be a bit harder for players to buy games, as the 3Ds eShop recently stopped accepting credit cards. Thankfully, players can get around this by linking their Nintendo Network ID - the identifier for the 3Ds - with their Nintendo account. After linking, they can add funds to their Nintendo account and purchase 3Ds titles. Luckily, there's still time to pick up these standout exclusives players before the Nintendo eShop closes on March 27.

The Pokémon anime's Team Rocket Trio are dedicated to their life of evil and crime, almost as much as they are to each other. But for Pokémon's Jessie and James, that life of crime actually got started in their youth, long before Team Rocket ever entered the picture.
Team Rocket itself is a mafia-esque criminal organization, run by Giovanni with the intention of stealing Pokémon from trainers and using them to make a profit. Jessie and James are first shown to be highly competent members of this group, but as they fell to Ash and Pikachu again and again, their competency became more of a joke. No matter what elaborate scheme they try to pull, Ash and co. are always there to foil them. The early anime, however, established Jessie and James' street cred by revealing their more serious criminal pasts.
