April has been a solid month for Netflix. They’ve gained back the popular comedy series Community, Money Heist: Part 4 did exceptionally well, and they’ve had surprising hits out of Ed Helms’ Coffee & Kareem and Chris Hemsworth’s Extraction. And now they’re bringing a few more hopeful titles to the service today, April 28th.

The biggest film of the batch is the 2011 alien invasion flick Battle: Los Angeles. It wasn’t exceptionally well-received when it released, and it won’t be winning you over with its fairly standard plot, but there’s enough action and explosions to keep your mind and eyes entertained for a few hours if you’ve already caught up on Netflix’s other big action titles.

The pilot who died Monday in a small plane crash in Sylmar has been identified as Scott Watson, a research and development executive at Walt Disney Imagineering.

Watson was described as the quintessential imagineer: someone who was both creative and technically savvy. Those who worked with him said he left his mark on scores of Disney’s theme park attractions, from Indiana Jones to Soarin’ Over The World to the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.

Local films take a larger market share in Turkey than Hollywood films.

Leading South Korean entertainment studio Cj E&M has announced it will invest in and distribute 25 local films in Turkey by June 2019.

Cj stated it has “joined hands with Turkey’s no. 1 production company Bkm and no. 2 production company Taff to secure an investment-distribution line-up,” to “solidify” Cj’s position as a film production, investment and distribution studio in Turkey.

The Korean company noted its Turkish partners were responsible for six out of 2017’s top 10 local films with Bkm, established in 1994, steadily producing more than 10 films a year, and...

According to a new poll released by Public Policy Polling, an alarming number of voters supports bombing Agrabah, the fictional county featured in the 1992 animated Disney film “Aladdin.” Among those who most strongly support the possible bombing: supporters of Donald Trump, 41 percent of whom favor unloading on Agrabah. It's not an easy thing, playing a father-daughter rock-duo, and making it seem authentic. For "Janie Jones" stars Abigail Breslin and Alessandro Nivola had to fit the bill, but it was easier for one than the other.

Breslin may be known for her dance moves from her breakout role in "Little Miss Sunshine," but when it came to singing, she was a novice before getting the role. "For me, I never really sung before. I started taking a few voice lessons just for fun, and then it was kind of coincidence that this script came about," said Breslin, who plays the titular role of Janie Jones, a young sing-songwriter abandoned by her mom and left to live with her dead-beat rocker dad, played by Nivola.

A summery, soulful vibe dominates the first half of the soundtrack to Friends With Benefits, the new comedy from Will Gluck which is unlikely to have a single review or article written about it that doesn’t mention Ivan Reitman’s conceptually identical No Strings Attached (hey, fulfilled my own prophecy there! Shaping the future. Yay me).

However just as the balmy heat and blue skies of summer can offer an irresistible environment for certain ill-advised behaviours (too much drinking, too much sun, spending your hard-earned money on a ticket for Green Lantern), so the early part of this tie-in album finds a number of classic songs receiving a refresh treatment that you’re not quite sure they ever really needed.

But, having said that, if logic dictates that only a brave fool would try to cover the Cure’s cast-iron classic Boys Don’t Cry, then the stripped-back, sensitive...

Madison Gate Records will be releasing the official soundtrack for the upcoming comedy Friends with Benefits. The album features 15 songs from the movie. Expectations are now so low on this season of "American Idol" that when news broke that Miley Cyrus was going to "mentor" the Top 11 as they sang "Teen Idol Hits No Wait Billboard #1 Hits No Wait Both Maybe," I shrugged and said, "Eh, they've had worse." It was a surprise selection on Ceylan's part to choose Erdogan, who also happens to be a popular figure on local television.
