This film began as a low-budget horror film, shot in Belfast, Ireland, when the script came to the attention of American producer Ben Katz, who was shooting Johnny Was (2006) in Belfast. Katz was so pleased with the script that he offered the services of several of his actors to the project, allowing for the addition of Charles Porter, Sam Sarpong and Wilson Jermaine Heredia to the cast. The script was quickly rewritten to suit American actors, such that it would take place in Brooklyn instead of Belfast.
