Budget type movie with some nice ideas.

I cannot agree with previous reviewers of this image. This is definitely not a brilliant movie, however it wasn't that bad. It's not also good enough to give it 8 stars (in my opinion only). Some people gave it only one star :/ I have no idea why... The screenplay had lot of possibilities some of them were wasted some were not. Main character was really nicely played. It wasn't an Oscar creation but still was quite good. The best thing was the mood of this movie, a little bit in Donnie Darko style. It was dark, static and strange (however i must say Donnie Darko was much better). Most important thing is that it's not a movie for everyone. I mean if you are a sf fan with desire to see spectacular CG effects you will be disappointed. There are no CG effects at all...well there are no special effects too (even standard camera tricks). The movie itself could be a little bit longer and maybe (just maybe) it could have a different ending. After last scene I got the feeling that CD1 ended an i'm waiting for CD2 to start :) Anyway the ending was supposed to tell us something (unfortunately i missed it). However I can understand the creators, after all the ending wasn't that senseless. This is a kind of budget movie so beware of huge Avatar like expectations.

I recommend this movie to all fans of more independent type of pictures. I really enjoyed it. I'm also pretty sure that with more money (Hollywood amounts), little review of script (different ending and some more background plot lines) huge dose of hype (see Twilight Saga ;), better camera work (see Black Howk Down ;)and really famous director (doesn't matter which one) it would be a real blockbuster.

It's amazing how many people didn't get this film, and don't even realize they didn't get it.

refreshing style of the classics

Of my friends who saw this movie, the range of acceptance was all over the scale; a true "love/OK/hate" movie. I loved it because it was very well filmed and edited, a film that has potential as a true "film class" staple in colleges worldwide. Others found it slow and boring. Here is a film that all future directors must see, but not all casual movie viewers will enjoy it. It had a classic 1940-1950's style suspense on the lines of Hitchcock classics and "Casablanca" and "The Maltese Falcon", not the modern aphoristic process, no business as usual here!!! It was also awash in young actors, which can deceive some people into thinking it is a child's movie, but it is not, it is suitable and I say designed for the mature film buff. A very good job on a very low budget, a great work.

Low Budget Gem

I watched this on Netflix because I thought it might be something to fall asleep to. Right away it grabbed me and kept me wanting more. If you like TV shows like Goosebumps and Twilight Zone then you might like this. It's a Sci-Fi low budget story. If you are looking for a blockbuster then this isn't for you. It's more ABC Family Channel or Nickelodeon. I would love to see a sequel but I doubt it would happen. I like how the characters were very low key. Keeping with the secret agent type story. Courtney Halverson does a great job. The only downside to this screenplay was the lack of background info on the mothers relationship with her. It looks as though John Ross reached his limit with this movie unfortunately.

Introspection

Faron Hallowell (Courtney Halverson) is about to be released from a mental institution. It seems that when she was 11, she shot a weatherman (the T. V. type, not political) and nearly killed him. Watching the film, we find that she was under the impression that she was fulfilling a part of guardian assistance is subduing rowdy aliens. Of course, we all know that is impossible. Now all she wants to do is pursue a normal life and put all that behind her.

It appears that the past will not stay the past; the most innocuous actions on the part of kids and authorities are weaving a pattern that we as observers cannot keep up with even with a bevy of clues.

I kept looking around corners and just waiting for "teenagers from space." Of course, there is always the possibility that it is just freaky Faron. The film ends way too soon and the results cause us to do a little or our own Introspection.

On DVD Bonus Features: Outtakes (most seen again in "Behind the Scenes") Behind The Scenes Watch Movie with Commentary John Ross - Director Courtney Halverson ... Faron Hallowell.

Like a classic film noir...for kids.

Wow, this movie wasn't what I expected. It does have sci-fi elements, yes, but what you're actually getting is kind of understated film noir in the vein of "Maltese Falcon"...but for kids. It's a pretty cool experiment and to me it really works. Yes, it's talky, but in the way that those classic Bogart mysteries were talky--there's a lot of information in the dialogue and if you pay close attention you can see the mystery unfolding in your head. You have to keep up with Faron. It's nice to see a movie that doesn't lead you by the hand, but rewards you for doing some sleuthing on your own. It's low budget, so the picture quality isn't great, but it makes up for it with some nifty lighting and composition. The atmosphere feels like an 80's kids' movie. It made me remember what it was like to sneak around my neighborhood at night as a kid. If that sounds cool to you, you should check it out! Note to parents: This movie isn't rated, but there's no language, violence, nudity or sexual innuendo.
