Scott Foley has signed on to star and executive produce It’s Not Like That, a faith based drama at Prime Video, Deadline has confirmed. It’s Not Like That, from Wonder Project, was given a cast-contingent series order at Prime Video in November and Foley’s casting now lifts that contingency.

Foley will play the series regular role of Malcolm, a minister and recent widow.

Per the logline, It’s Not Like That follows Lori, who is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?

The series comes from Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, who created the series and serve as showrunners.

Not to be confused with And Just Like That…, TV’s Scott Foley is set to star in It’s Not Like That, a faith-based drama for Prime Video.

The Night Agent Season 2 is coming soon to Netflix, and it may be arriving on the streamer faster than you can speed-dial and call one of modern televisions most important action characters. The hit action thriller created by Shawn Ryan is returning to Netflix in January 2025.

Jan. 23, 2025, is the specific date that The Night Agent will be making its highly-anticipated return to the platform after Season 2 was in production for over a year. Variety is reporting that Season 2 will be released in its entirety next January, although its still uncertain how many episodes Season 2 will have. Season 1 consisted of ten high-octane chapters of action bliss, which were released in 2023.

The show follows FBI agent Peter Sutherland as hes assigned to the weirdest position in the bureau. Sutherlands job consists of picking up the phone while being locked down in a secluded office in a basement. His official position is Night Action telephone operator.

CBS has always enjoyed delivering heart-pounding action and hit shows like S.W.A.T. and Seal Team are a testament to that. These action dramas have been known to deliver fast-paced, engaging storylines without holding back on the stunts and fight sequences. On these shows, the situation is always fluid, and anything can happen. Here, even the main characters are not safe from getting killed off. It was the same way on The Unit, the mission-driven CBS action drama that premiered back in 2006. The show tells the story of a group of covert military operatives whose existence has remained a secret for years. Much like on Seal Team and S.W.A.T., The Unit also goes beyond the men and the mission. After all, all this highly classified work can take its toll back home.

Patti Yasutake, best known for her roles in Beef and Star Trek: The Next Generation, passed away peacefully on August 5 surrounded by friends and family after a long battle with cancer, her manager and friend Kyle Fritz told Deadline. She was 70.

Los Angeles native Yasutake, born and raised in Gardena and Inglewood, graduated from UCLA with honors in theater. She started her career at East West Players, where she worked with the company’s co-founder, Japanese-American acting icon Mako, for six years onstage, on staff and on the board, performing in over a dozen shows.

Yasutake made her major feature debut in Ron Howard’s 1986 comedy Gung Ho as Umeki, a relocated Japanese wife earnestly trying to Americanize. She reprised her character in the follow-up ABC comedy series spawned by the movie.

CBS’ S.W.A.T. may be the “bubble” show that TVLine readers most wanted renewed, and its demo delivery may support a Season 7 renewal, but, ultimately, it will be cold hard cash that determines the procedural’s fate.

Former top Vis exec Laura Abril has been appointed EVP of scripted and global business development at Buendía Estudios, producer of “Veneno,” “Cardo” Season 1 and “Offworld,” in a move which signals the large international ambitions of one of Spain’s key production powerhouses.

Abril will report to Ignacio Corrales, Buendía Estudios CEO.

Rising through the ranks at Viacom from 2009, Abril crowned her career at the studio as the highest-ranking international TV executive in Spain named in 2019 as head of ViacomCBS International Studios (Vis) for Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Launched in August 2020, Buendía Estudios has already scored heavily in creative terms, producing a Variety Best International TV Show in 2020 (“Veneno”), 2021 (“Cardo” Season 1) and 2022 (“Offworld”). In volume, in 2022, it produced seven series for streaming services, more than any other production house in Spain, according to a study by Madrid-based consultancy Geca.

D’Arcy Carden will make her Broadway debut this spring in the premiere of Larissa Fasthorse’s The Thanksgiving Play.

Carden, who most recently starred in the Amazon series A League Of Their Own, after her well-known role as Janet in The Good Place, will be joined Katie Finneran (Noises Off, Promises, Promises on Broadway), Scott Foley (Scandal, The Unit) and Chris Sullivan (This is Us, Chicago on Broadway).

Previews for the play at the Hayes Theater start March 25, with an opening night set for April 20. Rachel Chavkin, the Tony-Award winning director of Hadestown, directs.

While it has been produced across the country, after having its world premiere off-Broadway at Playwrights’ Horizons in 2018, this will be the first Broadway production of The Thanksgiving Play. The satirical comedy follows a troupe of theater artists as they attempt to put on a politically correct Thanksgiving school pageant.

Rick Tuber, an Emmy-winning film editor who worked on shows including ER, Nash Bridges, The Unit and Chicago Fire, has died. He was 69.

Tuber died Saturday at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles of a heart attack, a family spokesperson announced.

Tuber won his Emmy, as well as an Eddie Award (both shared with Randy Jon Morgan), for his work on a 1995 season-one episode of NBC’s ER. He also handled 23 episodes of CBS’ The Unit from 2006-09 and 13 installments of WGN America’s Salem from 2014-17.

His credits also included the series Crime Story, Wiseguy, Martial Law, Ravenswood and Bones.

Born on May 10, 1953, Tuber attended California State University, Northridge, and in 1985 he served as an assistant editor on Cagney & Lacey. He followed with film work on Arthur 2: On the Rocks (1988), The Karate Kid Part III (1989) and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit (1993).

Terrence O’Hara, who directed 85 episodes of the CBS dramas NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles from 2003 until this year, died Dec. 5 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after a five-year battle with cancer, his family announced. He was 76.

A former actor who studied at the American Film Institute, O’Hara was a director for more than 30 years, also working on such other shows as The Blacklist, Smallville, Nikita, Lie to Me, Rosewood, Heroes, The Unit, Legends, Dollhouse, Grimm, Sons of Anarchy, The Shield, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Jag, Angel, Magic City, The X-Files, Dark Angel, Touched by an Angel and Pacific Blue.

His 56th and final NCIS episode, “Birds of a Feather” — the show’s 19th-season finale — aired May 23; the last of his 29 NCIS: Los Angeles assignments, “Bonafides,” aired in March. He also helmed four episodes of NCIS: New Orleans in 2014-16.

Scott Foley (The Big Leap) has been tapped for a key recurring role opposite Melissa Benoist in The Girls On The Bus, HBO Max’s political drama series from Warner Bros. TV.

The series centers on Sadie McCarthy (Benoist), a journalist who romanticizes Tim Crouse’s Boys on the Bus book and who scrapped her whole life for her own shot at covering a presidential campaign for the paper of record. Sadie hits the trail and eventually bonds with three female competitors, Grace, Lola (Natasha Behnam) and Kimberlyn (Christina Elmore). Despite their differences, the women become a found family with a front-row seat to the greatest soap opera in town: the battle for the White House.

Rafael Cobos, the co-screenwriter of Alberto Rodríguez’s Goya best picture winner “Marshland” and “The Plague,” one of Movistar Plus’ most ambitious series ever, is getting his own show.

Moving into production on July 18, “El hijo zurdo” stars María León, a stunning 2011 San Sebastian best actress winner for “The Sleeping Voice,” in a series which Cobos describes an “emotional thriller.”

Movistar Plus’ newly announced original is not only written by Cobos but co-directed too in the directorial debut of the Seville-based scribe.

A six part, half hour drama, “El Hijo Zurdo” is scheduled for release first half of 2023. Movistar Plus Internacional is handling worldwide distribution.

Cobos’ career-long relationship with Rodríguez takes in the Spanish director’s 2022 San Sebastian opening movie “Prison 77” and his episode in “Offworld,” a Movistar Plus anthology series which world premieres out of competition at San Sebastián.

Rosanna Arquette, Melinda McGraw, Frank Grillo, Dennis Haysbert and Dee Wallace are the first to be cast in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm director Jason Woliner’s Peacock series, from The Disaster Artists producers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Caviar.

There are few details about the series, which Peacock describes as a “mind-bending project” in the style of Woliner’s work on Borat Subsequent Moviefilm that “mixes fact and fiction to tell a bizarre and incredible tale.” Woliner, who has directed episodes of The Last Man on Earth and Nathan for You, apparently has been shooting for more than a decade.

The series will be produced by Caviar and Rogen and Goldberg’s Point Grey Studios, via their overall deal with Lionsgate.

Woliner will direct and exec produce. Exec producers also include Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, Loreli Alanis, Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Caviar’s Michael Sagol and Bert Hamelinck.

Exclusive: Dennis Haysbert, known for his role as President David Palmer in Fox’s hit series 24, among many other credits, has signed with A3 Artists Agency for representation. Haysbert received two SAG Award nominations as well as a Golden Globe nom for his performance in the role.

He also starred in all four seasons of David Mamet’s CBS series The Unit.

Haysbert can currently be seen starring in the Hulu thriller No Exit and recently recurred in season 5 of Netflix’s Lucifer. His upcoming film projects include Silent Retreat for Miramax as well as Fox Searchlight’s Flamin’ Hot, which tells the story of Richard Montañez, a Mexican American who turned the iconic Flamin’ Hot Cheetos snack into a global pop culture phenomenon.

Mandy Patinkin is set to narrate “Indivisible: Healing Hate,” is a six-part documentary series for Paramount Plus that focuses on the rise of far-right extremism and how it drove the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The series premieres on the one-year anniversary of the insurrection, this January 6, with the episode “Rage Revealed.”
