Darkness vs. Love

In the magic realm of Coventry, the twin sisters Artemis and Apolla are saved by their protectors Illeana (Jennifer Robertson) and Karsh (Pat Kelly) from the Darkness and brought to another dimension. They are adopted by different families but in their twenty-first birthday, their protectors force them to meet each other. Alex Fielding (Tia Mowry) lost her mother three months ago and is alone seeking a job while Camryn Barnes (Tamara Mowry) lives with her beloved wealthy parents. Once together they find that they have magic powers and they should return to Coventry to save their biological mother and their kingdom from the Darkness.

"Twitches" is a naive family entertainment with good messages in the end. The predictable and forgettable story is a typical product from Disney studios, full of the usual clichés of good versus evil and darkness versus love and more recommended for children. My vote is five.

i was disappointed

I was quite disappointed with this movie. I had read all the books and had enjoyed them quite a lot. When i saw the movie i was excited. I wasn't when the movie was finished. It was rather insulting. The movie was nothing what so ever like the books. It really disappointed me!! The characters name were all the same but there personalities were different.. The characters of ilena and karsh really got me angry they are not at all like that in the book, neither are marinda and thantos. If i was the writer of the books i would have been mortally insulted. If you're going to make a movie based on a book at least have the characters the same, or even the plot... It was a terrible movie to watch.!!

cute, nostalgic movie

For its time and for what it's meant to be, twitches does pretty well. obviously it's hokey & cliché; don't watch it to take seriously. it was a childhood staple of mine & is a good example of "bad" movies that still hold up well overtime. i think tia & tamera showed talent despite the cheesy script & juvenile writing (which it's SUPPOSED to be, it is a kids' movie after all!). in all the emotional scenes they could cry on command, whereas the other "actors" couldn't.

yes, it is a silly movie. but it represents a time when "bad" disney movies were still good, in a way. i also really liked the sweet little lesson at the end. the world needs more wholesome, harmless movies like this one. takes me back to the good ol' days!

Very very nice

This is definitely one of the to-watch movies on Disney Channel. I just finished watching it and am now watching the encore presentation. It has a very good plot, a lot of exciting twists, some hidden links, plenty of comedy, and characters you just can't miss. Upon just starting to watch the movie it won't make too much sense, but if you keep watching it makes more and more sense. There is some sobriety in the movie, so watch out, but it is mostly just good comedy. If you have seen the premiere of Sister, Sister, the show on Disney Channel, you can relate this to that, and I think that is what the writers were going for. I have a good feeling that this is one of the DCOMs(Disney Channel Original Movie) that will make it to DVD. Only select DCOMs have ever made it to DVD.Some of the people in this movie you might recognize from other movies, but you can figure that part out by yourself. Toward the end of the movie and during it, a little, it gets a bit lame, but who am I to judge. I give this movie a 10.

The power of 2

Before the Sprouse twins arrived at Disney Studios, the Magic Kingdom had Tia and Tamera Mowry and at the height of their sister act career they did Twitches and its sequel Twitches Two for Disney. They still have careers, but I think they're concentrating on being wives and mothers.

The girls are from another dimension in an enchanted kingdom called Coventry. They were separated at birth and given to different adoptive human parents, they still feel a connection and something missing. Their real mother is the Queen of Coventry and she's now married to her late husband's brother.

At the age of 21 the two discover each other and while they like the idea of having their lives now explained the two have trouble getting together to fight the evil known as the Dark Shadow. That's the best part of the film, the concept of this nameless, formless evil is really frightening.

I think some of you will note similarities with The Parent Trap, The Corsican Brothers and of course Hamlet in the genesis of this film. Some may find others.

It's a nice mix, the girls are wholesome and attractive and this is a frightening film as much within the Disney G rated parameters as it can be.

Magic isn't what makes the movie great...love is what makes it "magical"

"Twitches" is a great movie to see. Tia and Tamera Mowry have done a wonderful job and I was really impressed with them (like always). I am not going to tell you what "Twitches" is about because it is your job to see the magic of "Twitches" come to YOU. It really is a good movie and especially great for Halloween so settle yourself down in a comfy chair and get some popcorn and enjoy this "magical" movie and see if has the flavor for you and many others. I will say it is a is a movie you shouldn't miss and if you are a big fan of Tia and Tamera Mowry then you will totally flip out when you see them in this movie so go ahead and check it out and you never know when in the end you might say "that movie was really great" because I know I did!

Sister Sister but They're Witches

Twin witches, separated as babies, stumble into one another on their 21st birthday and discover they have powers and are from another dimension.

You don't grow up during the 90s watching Tia and Tamera Mowry in Sister Sister and not jump on this movie when it released. As I expected, the acting here is superb. It's a fun story with a likable cast. It's a good movie to rewatch each Halloween season. Its not as suspenseful and is a bit more predicable than its sequel, but its a lot of fun watching the sisters discover one another and learn how different their lives have been.

Frankly, the whole movie really stank, especially the acting.

After seeing Tia and Tamara bragging how Christian they are on that interview that they did for the Trinity Broadcasting Network aired over and over for the past 10 years before this movie, then to see them take a role that glorifies witchcraft, just shows the whole world how these two sisters can not be either trusted or believed and the quality of their acting is just one more lie they would like us to believe, but which is yet one more falsehood about them which has been exposed by this movie.

Frankly, the whole movie really stank, especially the acting.

I recommend that the producer should be made to refund every cent that the viewers have wasted on this most lousy of movies.

Sort of guilty pleasure to watch around Halloween...

It's a fun family film that mixes fantasy with Halloween. The plot is simple and doesn't have a lot depth. I do wish they went deeper on the main conflict to make it more engaging. I also think they could of build the world of Coventry a bit more as there isn't a whole lot to say about it other than it's this fantasy kingdom, but despite the faults that this movie has, it was a fun watch, and it's a movie I'd come back to.

Also, keep in mind that I have not read the book. From what I've heard, it strays far from what the book is, so the movie may be a disappointment if you expect it to be similar.

However, if you haven't read the book or look into this movie as its own thing, then this movie is just a fun family film with comedy about twins who discover each other and the magic powers they wield. Their goal is to try to save the land of Coventry from darkness.

As Bad As It Gets

This movie is so bad I feel I can actually hear my daughter's brain melting as she watches it. An idiotic story line, coupled with pathetic acting, results in a movie that insults the viewer's every sense. I know the intended audience is preteen, but that does not mean the movie makers should have free license to ensure that the viewers become idiots in adulthood. I am almost beside myself with disgust.

I blame Disney. Their movies and TV shows have become so excruciatingly trite, cutesy and devoid of any cultural value. I firmly believe that Walt Disney is turning in his grave at the drivel that comes out under his name these days.

Not content with this cultural miscarriage, they went ahead and made a sequel. You have to wonder why the makers of this film seem to hate us so much.

Not good compared to the book

This movie is a horrible representation of the book. I can't believe that the authors even let them make this movie. The book was already doing great, then Disney Channel ruined it.

I don't think I will ever watch it again!!

The only thing the same about the book and the movie is the characters, that they are twin witches, and that they were separated at birth!!

They can't even say T Witches right they said ta witches it really is tee witches!!

If I ever meet the screen writers or the director they will get an ear full!!!!!

I Loved It

i usually don;t like Disney Channel Original Movies that much but i loved this one and i have been a fan of Tia and Tamera Mowry since Sister, Sister originally aired on UPN nd ABC. Tamera is a maturing as an actress even though i don't watch on a regular basis i love the parts of Strong Medicine i have seen. but i digress usually the Disney Channel Movies are just the same storyline different characters but i loved this and i am hoping they make merchandise because i would love to by a pendant set like the ones in TwiTches.i nearly cried at the end. Alex and Cameron are great characters i wish i had read these books. oh well. occasionally Disney Channel Makes something great. i enjoy Tia and tamera also because they're roughly the same age i am.

Twitches

I really enjoyed this movie. I've read the first novel of the series, and while it wasn't too much like it (I haven't finished the series), I like the movie. If it wasn't based off a series, it would have been very good. It still is. I was hoping it would be more like the series. I'm still a fan of the movie. It's actually one of my favorites. I'm a 22 year-old who loves it. I bought it on DVD. Totally worth seeing. I would have liked to have seen more of their powers that are in the novels, but I'm still happy with it. If you're into fun, witchy movies, you'll like it. Must see. Especially at Halloween. I watch it year round.

Funny (little , very little) that captivates...

Reunited on her 21st birthday, twin sisters (Tia Mowry, Tamera Mowry) use their magical powers to save their kingdom from the forces of darkness. Adopted by different families when they were still babies, two little witches are reunited on the day they turn 21 and discover that their mysterious magical powers are even stronger when they are together. What they don't know is that they are about to save the world from a great evil, using their incredible abilities.

So cute and cuddly, what an unfair average ????, two adopted and empowered twin black witches, how not to love, everything very simple, but sweet and plumbing... It's silly, and sometimes crazy, but it's so sweet, funny (little , very little) that captivates...
