Making use of the player’s microphone to enhance the player experience in horror games has been a thing for a while now, but Eyes Never Wake, an upcoming title in the genre takes it a step further by using a mechanic we wish franchises like Splinter Cell and Hitman would soon adopt.

Imagine a horror game where your webcam becomes the primary input, with your face deciding the what and how of the life-and-death situation you’ll face against monsters. In Eyes Never Wake, this simple yet brilliant mechanic is perfectly executed, something that other franchises like Splinter Cell and Hitman should take notes from.

Anticlimactic endings can happen to every genre in manga. While in an action manga, an anticlimactic ending can occur after a disappointing final battle, in a slice-of-life manga, the main character's lack of development can be very disappointing. Although the build-up to the ending is important, the payoff is even more so. A good manga ending is one that sticks to its themes and resolves the main narrative.
Examples that have a good ending are manga like Delicious in Dungeon, which keeps its core themes and values to the end. Another great example is A Silent Voice. Although it's open-ended, it fits the theme of hope in an unknown future. Landing an ending is one of the hardest parts of telling a narrative story, so more often than not, many manga struggle with wrapping it up in a satisfying way.

Hitman 3 is a fairly realistic game; so much so, that certain aspects of it would appear to mimic reality – including suicides. A recent discovery by multiple netizens has only stirred up a fair bit of controversy, especially regarding the depiction of self-harming behaviour in the game.
While somewhat unfortunate, it highlights an unsettling trend amongst game developers to push forward realism – at the cost of keeping things in a game, well, fictional. Overall, while this isn’t exactly a deal breaker, it does put into question the ethical and moral consequences of such a move.

The anime industry spans a variety of genres, but arguably the action genre is the most popular and prominent of them all. By now, action anime has developed a strong appeal among all demographics, not just young boys, making anime like Bleach and My Hero Academia highly mainstream and popular. No matter the demographic, there is a variety of action anime that anyone can connect to.
The best action anime don't just feature well-animated fight scenes and cool combat systems, though. Good action anime series also entertain viewers with deep humanistic themes, strong character arcs, a unique setting/premise, and hard-hitting plot twists that keep anime fans guessing as the action unfolds. Whether the action anime is commenting on its genre, such as in One Punch Man, or helps define it, as in the case of Dragon Ball, there is something for everyone.

Hollywood has a history of struggling with video game adaptations, and It Takes Two appears to be the latest project stuck in limbo. Hazelight Studios’ critically acclaimed co-op game was announced for a film adaptation three years ago, with Sonic the Hedgehog writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller set to write it.

It’s 2025 now and we still haven’t heard of any progress. Even Josef Fares, the creator of the game doesn’t know what’s happening over in Hollywood to cause such a delay. Maybe it’s the same situation as what happened to Donnie Yen and Sleeping Dogs. We sure hope not.

Timothy Olyphant is one of those actors who can do it all, a gritty lawman, charming rogue, and reluctant hero. But even he couldn’t escape the wild, often unpredictable world of Hollywood.
You might know him best as the unflappable Sheriff Seth Bullock in Deadwood. But rewind to 2007, and you’ll find him in a completely different role, a bald, barcode-tattooed assassin in Hitman.

Now, video game movies have a bit of a reputation. Let’s just say that Hollywood’s track record with adapting beloved games has been… well, spotty at best. So when Hitman was announced, gamers were both excited and terrified. Would it do justice to the slick, stealthy world of Agent 47? Or would it be another case of Hollywood not understanding what makes a game special?
Unfortunately, despite raking in a respectable $101 million worldwide, Hitman ended up underappreciated.

Throughout Hollywood history, stars have signed on and then swapped out projects for something else and only realized they made the right or wrong call when the box office numbers came in. Vin Diesel, for example, was originally down to play Agent 47 in "Hitman," the film adapted from the popular video game franchise but turned it down. Most would say the "Fast and Furious" films dodged a bullet though, considering the movie received scathing reviews upon release and currently boasts a paltry 16% on Rotten Tomatoes. Even so, that's pretty generous next to the even bigger dumpster fire he starred in the following year instead.
Initially, Diesel was the top pick for the role of 47, the iconic assassin with a shaved head and a barcode on his neck who is employed by a mysterious organization. As one of the biggest...

After the success of Arrow and The Flash, the CW dipped its toes into the Supergirl property, and even though the show itself fumbled the ball with its latter seasons, one thing it got right was the casting, at least for the most part. From Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl to Jon Cryer’s Lex Luthor, the casting for the show was arguably some of the strongest in the Arrowverse.

However, unlike his peers, Cryer didn’t have to undergo a rigorous acting process, which had nothing to do with his Two and a Half Men fame but one of his earlier works alongside Christopher Reeve.

Olivia Holt as Ally and Mason Gooding as Jay in ‘Heart Eyes’ (Photo by: Christopher Moss / Screen Gems)
Just when you thought Companion was going to be the big Valentine’s Day horror crossbreed movie, along comes Heart Eyes.
Heart Eyes is about a young woman named Ally (Olivia Holt from Cloak & Dagger) who, while having a rough day at work, meets an attractive stranger named Jay (Mason Gooding from the newer Scream movies). They are forced into working together, which leads to a reluctant romance, mainly because it’s Valentine’s Day. All they have to do is survive the night. Both figuratively and literally.
See, the city where they live, Seattle, is the new hunting ground for a serial killer called The Heart Eyes Killer, or H.E.K. for short, who only comes out on this one day and stalks couples. And he has, apparently, mistaken Allie...

Are you a fan of Sleeping Dogs? Because if you are, you’ve probably been waiting for a sequel or a movie adaptation. Unfortunately for us, we almost got a movie starring Ip Man star Donnie Yen. The man spent years working on the project and even invested his own money into it, but the project has been scrapped.

Despite the movie receiving poor reviews from critics, audiences are absolutely loving The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (that title sure is a mouthful), which recently found new success streaming for free. The Hitman's Bodyguard, released in 2017, was a moderately successful action comedy, starring Samuel L. Jackson as the notorious hitman, Darius Kincaid, and Ryan Reynolds as the "Aaa-rated" bodyguard assigned to protect him, Michael Bryce. The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is that film's less successful younger brother, released four years later in 2021. Jackson and Reynolds returned for the sequel, with Salma Hayek's small role from the original being greatly expanded, and Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas joining the party.
The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is currently streaming for free on Tubi, where it is dominating the free streaming platform. At the time of writing, the film currently holds the No. 1 spot in the streamer's Top 10 most popular movies of the week. It sits ahead of Honest Thief,...

When we think about battle choreography, John Wick stands out in most aspects. The film series is lauded for its power-packed showdowns and fights, and that’s precisely why it became an inspiration for movies, shows, and even anime.
Sakamoto Days is no exception to this considering its unique plot and setting. And while the series is making waves on the internet and elsewhere, it isn’t exempt from heavy backlash and criticism.

Action icon and The Beekeeper star Jason Statham is transformed into a video game icon in this concept trailer for a potential Hitman adaptation. Taking footage from Statham’s previous movies, the much-maligned Hitman movies that have already been made, and using a touch of AI (shudder), the footage (via Screen Trailers) demonstrates what a movie led by The Stath as Agent 47 could look like. And no doubt fans of The Mechanic star will be hoping it becomes reality.
The Hitman video games, which follow the mysterious assassin Agent 47 as he travels the world taking out targets assigned to him by the even more mysterious International Contract Agency (Ica), has already been adapted for the big screen twice before. But neither has really satisfied fans of the game, action fans, or, well, anyone, really.

Sakamoto Days is in the limelight for many reasons. The Hitman series redefines badassery in most aspects, especially through its fight scenes and character development. It truly lives up to its popularity in most aspects.
With its animated adaptation, however, several fans raised their concerns and qualms. In the era of botched anime adaptations, most viewers had their fair share of valid concerns. But they may have judged the series too soon.

Of late, several fans have compared the series with Koyoharu Gotouge’s magnum opus Demon Slayer. And though this seems convenient, it is a bit of a stretch to compare two completely different series.
While Tms isn’t a cult-popular studio, it is a household name that has produced some of the iconic anime. In their manner of censure, people often overlook the unrealistic standards and expectations that a series’ success would create.

Universal Pictures has entered a first-look film partnership with Barnstorm, the production company founded by Glen Powell, the studio announced on Tuesday.
Former 21 Laps veteran Dan Cohen is set to join Barnstorm as a partner.
Powell and the studio are expanding their relationship following the success of “Twisters.” The film, where Powell starred as Tyler Owens, exceeded box office expectations and set a new record for natural disaster movie openings in the U.S. When “Twisters” was released on Peacock in November 2024, it became their most-watched new movie in its first two weeks.

It’s a little-known fact that The Boys actually started out being published by DC Comics, but co-creator Darick Robertson revealed that Homelander, Billy Butcher, Wee Hughie and the rest were almost folded into the DC Universe itself. This stunning revelation puts a whole new perspective on Garth Ennis and Robertson’s irreverent superhero take-down, which would have drastically altered the way the original comics were portrayed.
Speaking with Retrofuturista in 2020, artist Robertson describes how the series came together, as writer Ennis approached the artist in the early 2000s with a new superhero series idea. While Robertson was eager to collaborate with Ennis once again following their work on the Fury and Punisher series, he was tied up with rebooting Wolverine with an exclusive contract with Marvel at the time.
A few years later, Robertson was free from his Marvel commitments, and reconnected with Ennis:

While Robertson was eager to collaborate with Ennis once again following their work on the Fury and Punisher series, he was tied up with rebooting Wolverine with an exclusive contract with Marvel at the time.
A few years later, Robertson was free from his Marvel commitments, and reconnected with Ennis:

James Gunn has spearheaded the newly conceived DC Universe with much fervor and enthusiasm, as is evident from the first season of the animated series, Creature Commandos, and the trailer of Superman. The comic book studio finally seems to be headed toward a creatively rewarding future as the chief of DC Studios dreams big and isn’t afraid to take risks.

However, while DC is still a ways away from its grand opening in July 2025, the fans remain fixated on Gunn’s every move and decision, no matter how minor or benign. One of those decisions was to cast actors in one of the most anticipated films of the decade: Superman – a movie whose outcome has the power to make or break the DC comic book universe for good.

Bloodborne is regarded as one of the greatest games of this generation. This Soulslike action RPG was released in 2015 by FromSoftware. In just a few days of its release, this game made everyone awestruck by its Gothic Victorian-era-inspired Yharnam, whose residents are suffering from Yharnamites.

Now, just imagine, will there be any chance that a dark and heavy game like this would have any connection with a 2005-released platform game, Madagascar? Madagascar itself is a huge franchise, but a light and colorful game like this holds a peculiar connection with the dark worlds of Bloodborne.

Christmas came a week early for DC fans worldwide, as Dcu chief James Gunn has pulled on his Santa hat to gift them the best present they could have asked for—a brand new trailer for the most anticipated superhero movie of the upcoming year, Superman. Fans were eagerly waiting with bated breath ever since a teaser was released a couple of days ago, and now that a major glimpse of Dcu’s official beginning has been shared through the trailer itself, it has delivered everything they could have asked for and more. The most notable aspect of the Superman trailer is how different it is compared to almost every other generic trailer released nowadays based on comic-book IP. For a two-and-a-half-minute clip with not a single line of major dialogue, the trailer had a lot to tell the viewers, all of which I will try to break down in...

Making a comic book live-action film is not an easy job for not only it requires delivering to fan expectations but also an immense budget thanks to the use of CGI and technology. Even an average superhero flick usually takes a $200 million budget to produce. So, when it comes to James Gunn’s upcoming Superman, fans can’t help but wonder how costly it is.

Over the past year, there have been reports floating around alleging that the film was an extremely costly affair, stating the alleged budgeted amount to be more than Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. However, the director himself took to social media recently and put all such queries to rest.

The trailer for the upcoming Superman film has just been released, and it seems like the current Lex Luthor has taken heavy inspiration from Hitman’s Agent 47. He looks nothing like the Lex Luthor in the comic books.

Luthor has played a key role as Superman’s archenemy for decades, and a Superman film without him feels incomplete. However, the costume, hair, and makeup team for the upcoming film have taken the character in a very different direction.

You can predict what a person’s reaction will be to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by what they see as the most iconic image of Indiana Jones from the films. For some, it’s the rugged adventurer stepping into the light in the South American jungle after his whip disarms an attacker. For some, it’s the silhouetted figure at sunset overseeing a dig for the Ark of the Covenant. For others still, it’s the shot of River Phoenix receiving the iconic fedora and transitioning to Harrison Ford defiantly grinning at a common hood before taking a punch. For my part, it’s the moment in Temple of Doom where Indy goes into the Thuggee temple and a mine cart’s light illuminates his bloody, sweaty, and absolutely pissed face.
For that reason, Great Circle felt like something of a strange fit for Machinegames. There was never any doubt,...

Timothy Olyphant’s 16% Rotten Tomatoes Video Game Adaptation Just Landed on a Free Streaming Service
Timothy Olyphant may have become known by a new generation of fans as Cobb Vanth in The Mandalorian, the original Star Wars Disney+ show that spawned a new franchise in a different corner of the universe, but 17 years ago he toplined a critically maligned video game adaptation that just got a new streaming home. Hitman, the 2007 conspiracy thriller that stars Olyphant alongside Prison Break veteran Robert Knepper, has officially begun streaming on Vizio Watchfree+, the free streaming service that can be accessed by anyone with a Vizio TV or even just with a Vizio account and the mobile app. Hitman earned a 16% score from critics and a 57% rating from general audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film also stars Olga Kurylenko, who recently played Taskmaster in Black Widow and will reprise the role in Thunderbolts*.

Keanu Reeves' $86 million action thriller offers a very accurate depiction of the Russian mafia, except for one myth. Reeves stars as the titular assassin, who has managed to build a life outside the mob world. However, his peace is disturbed when he runs into someone from his old life, which forces him back to the criminal underworld. The premise was rejected by six studios, and Reeves also helped to fund the project with his own salary.
Independently-made with a budget around $20 to $30 million, the film tripled its budget at the box office. Its success then led to three more movies and a growing franchise. With immersive world-building, relentless action sequences and a star-studded cast, the action thriller co-directed by Chad Stahelski and David Leitch is regarded as a cult classic in the crime thriller genre. The franchise also became what Reeves is most famous for, aside from his lead role...

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s combat stands out for its visceral, hand-to-hand style. Each punch feels powerful, reminiscent of classic brawlers, while the whip adds a distinct element, allowing players to disarm opponents and clear space. This tactile approach recalls the melee mechanics of The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, where physicality is essential.
Improvised weaponry, which can range from musical instruments to tools, enhances gameplay by encouraging creativity and humor. This not only reflects Indy’s inventiveness but also adds a comedic element to combat, making encounters memorable and thematically appropriate.
The first-person perspective enhances exploration by immersing players in intricate locales such as Vatican City and ancient catacombs. This design creates a sense of immediacy, encouraging players to engage meaningfully with their surroundings.
Hitman-inspired stealth mechanics emphasize deliberate navigation over simple visibility cues. Players must time their movements carefully to avoid detection, encouraging a deliberate approach to exploration.

The role of James Bond has been one of the most coveted and sought after, ever since Sean Connery donned the famous dinner suit, and left everyone shaken, and stirred in 1962's Dr No. Many great actors have played the iconic British spy, but there have also been numerous actors linked to the character over the years who have starred in identical roles.
The search for Daniel Craig's successor as James Bond has yet to be found, but a breakthrough in casting the next James Bond could be forthcoming. Landing the next Bond is absolutely key for Eon, and it's the toughest call they've had to make yet. Whoever the next Bond is, has to fit into a universe with massive built-in audience expectations, so the best route for any aspiring 007s is arguably to seek out roles that are identical to the suave spy.

If any blockbuster franchise should be easy to adapt into a good video game, it's Indiana Jones, but spinning the source material into a truly great game is a less enviable task. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ends a long hiatus for the archaeologist's interactive adventures, re-appearing in a world where the Uncharted series has already redefined the genre. With the newest outing, developer MachineGames attempts to avoid retracing Nathan Drake's steps while wrangling a game into something that genuinely resembles the movies, an ambitious venture with an appropriate touch of daredevilry.
The game opens with a bit of fan service that more or less stakes out this claim, diligently recreating the set piece from the start of Raiders of the Lost Ark before pivoting into its own story. Situated between Raiders and The Last Crusade, The Great Circle is interested in the same subjects as the franchise's most memorable films.

To me, to you: comedian Paul Chuckle is going to the dark side for his latest role in thriller Fall To The Top.
Words you never expect to type – Paul Chuckle is playing a hitman.
Beloved by millions for his decades long career as one half of The Chuckle Brothers alongside his late brother Barry, they dominated children’s television for many years. ChuckleVision ran on the BBC from 1987 to 2009, clocking up a whopping 292 episodes and very nearly rivaling shows like Last Of The Summer Wine for the title of longest running sitcom.
Since Barry sadly passed away in 2018, Paul has continued working in pantomime and has taken on sporadic television roles, appearing in an episode of Doctors with Su Pollard and Ruth Madoc, and he has a recurring role in The Madame Blanc Mysteries.

Hitman’s last trilogy, the World of Assassination series, provides what we consider some of the finest stealth-action gameplay that someone can get into, offering what is, without a doubt, one of the most intricate sandbox environments in all of gaming.

That’s quite the hyperbole for one series, though, isn’t it? But you see, for our money, such a statement is well deserving of a franchise that has given birth to one of the greatest memes in gaming, a bug that even the developers could never forget even by the trilogy’s end.

It’s hard to imagine a time when Ubisoft was actually the leading pioneer of innovation in gaming. But back in the day, they weren’t just churning out cookie-cutter open worlds—they were shaping entire genres with groundbreaking series like Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, and the early Assassin’s Creed games.

These days, though, pure stealth games seem about as rare as a Ubisoft game that isn’t a flop at launch. While they continue to work on a remake of the original Splinter Cell (fingers crossed they remember what made it special), fans of the genre are left wondering if there’s any room left for games that prioritize patience over spectacle.
The irony isn’t lost on anyone—the company that once revolutionized stealth gaming now treats it as an optional afterthought. But...

The Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell video game series is a highly-popular series of stealth action-adventure video games that started with 2002’s Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The last game in the series, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist, was released in 2013 and the series has been stalled since then. Ubisoft was so eager to expand the franchise that even a movie was announced in 2012, starring Tom Hardy.

Just like the seventh Splinter Cell game, even the Splinter Cell movie was delayed for many years. Fans got some updates throughout the 2010s about the movie, but it was clear that no progress was being made. Finally, it has been confirmed that the Splinter Cell movie is dead because they couldn’t get it right. This news is certainly disappointing but it might be a blessing in disguise.

Under Paris, a shark thriller from genre regular Xavier Gens, was released through the Netflix streaming service on June 5th (you can read our review Here) and turned out to have the best launch for a non-English language film on Netflix, drawing in more than 102.3 million views. So it’s no surprise to hear, via Variety, that a sequel is in development. Both Gens and star Bérénice Bejo, who received an Oscar nomination for her role in the 2011 silent film The Artist, are expected to return for Under Paris 2. Bejo has even been quoted as saying that the sequel would begin filming in September of next year, but Variety’s sources cautioned that the project is still in early stages and might not make it into production until 2026.
Under Paris was so successful, Gens was already being asked about a sequel just nine days after the movie was released. At that time,...
