It's not a serious movie it's meant to be a spoof comedy it's pretty funny when you know the scenarios it's kind of a dark sense of humor movie. If your sense of humor isn't of a broader horizon wouldn't recommend watching.
Jaleel is a wonderful, handsome romantic comedy lead. This movie was so enjoyable(especially on Thanksgiving Day, which is one of the big funny scenes), that my family and I watched it several times during the holiday, and cracked up. I know there are cuss words, "N" words, and all, but in the context of the material, it is familiar and just downright funny. As a matter of fact, this movie makes great entertainment when people come by and want to have a drink, popcorn, and laugh. The acting was great. The soundtrack is really "off the chain"... I loved it. Would like to purchase a CD with the music on it. It's all original music. The scene with Jaleel alone at the train station could really be a music video because the vocalist is hot. I think it's among some of the best work I've scene Clifton Powell do, and he and Ella Joyce have great chemistry. Ella seems to be the voice of calm and reason in this film and she is great also, along with Reynaldo Rey. It's great to see him in a film. I will watch everything this director does. I like his films. Who Made The Potatoe Salad is entertaining.
Im gonna give this a 10 to make up for the one reviews......this movie is a classic where i live....i introduced this movie to all my friends...if you like friday.....well cant go that far.....but it is a notch lower than friday but it is entertaining...dont take my word...watch it if you like comedy...
I really enjoyed this movie! I think its low budgetness took away from actual higher ratings because this is funnier than a lot of big budget box office movies, it was just kinda hood made lol. Still funny and jokes apply today. It had stereotypical characters but most movies do. It was silly and I laughed. I enjoy black movies and comedies though, as well as indy and new stories, so it was right up my alley.
I have not given many ZEROS to a movie, but they will not let you post an actual ZERO, if I could I would have given that number to this flaming hot mess of a "movie"
Seems every has been they could find, still alive was cast in it!!
The premise was bad from jump, Jameel "FOREVER Steve Urkel as a cop! He still has the same goofy face with those enormous eyes that he had as a youngster, they don't look good on an adult. Clifton Powell( Who is in EVERY Black B or F movie ever made) played his usual off putting character.
The rest of the cast were either has beens or never was, and we understand why they were in the aforementioned groups!
Awful movie, take my advice, cut your grass instead!
