Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor has found new creative territory as antagonist Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again,” marking a calculated departure from his traditional leading man roles.

The pic marks the fifth entry in Shetty’s popular cop universe. The franchise – initially based on Hari’s 2010 Tamil-language “Singam,” starring Suriya – kicked off with “Singham” (2011) and “Singham Returns” (2014), both centering on Bajirao Singham (Ajay Devgn), a straight-arrow Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dcp) from the Goa-Maharashtra border town of Shivgarh. “Simmba” (2018) shifted focus to Sangram “Simmba” Bhalerao (Ranveer Singh), a corrupt inspector from Singham’s hometown. Anees Bazmi’s No Entry managed to do the near-impossible. It was a sex comedy without overt sex and vulgarity. The upmarket, high-profile star cast ensures a high-quality, cleaned-out satirical scenario freed of annoying innuendos. Nonetheless, the swiftly flowing slapstick replete with grossly overblown dollops of mistaken identity and other intensely corny contrivances takes the comedy this farce and no more.

Farcical comedies about infidelity are not alien to Hindi cinema. B.R. Chopra’s Pati Patni Aur Woh gave the late and great Sanjeev Kumar a chance to do the incorrigible flirtatious husband with a deadpan ingenuity that his successors have found hard to replicate. Maria Austin (“The Reverend and Mrs. Simpson”) plays Mercy alongside Annette Badland (“Ted Lasso”), Mark Wingett (“Quadrophenia”) and Morgan (“Mrs. Lowry and Son”), who wrote and directed the film.

"Not many people know I am an athlete. I am a national basketball champion. I was the girls' captain of the team. I am a sportsperson, so I think no one can be a better choice than me for the role of Pt Usha. I have been a racer. I have participated in a lot of hurdles and races, and won many. During an interaction with Ians, Anil revealed why he had reservations about signing Chopra's ambitious project, to begin with. " '1942: A Love Story' was the only love story I did. I was very uncomfortable. Initially, I refused to do the film. I told them clearly that I wouldn't be able to do such a role," he recalled.

He added: "I even suggested Aamir Khan and Bobby Deol for the role. I asked them, from which angle do I look romantic? I was already a father of three kids at that time. But they convinced me.

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee, who is gearing up for the release of his next directorial venture "Pagalpanti", has said that comedy is one of the toughest genres to execute for a big audience.

"I have written scripts of many films including emotional drama, romantic films and suspense thrillers but even today, I honestly feel scared when I write a comedy because it is one of the toughest genres to execute for a big screen audience," said Bazmee, while interacting with the media at the launch of the song "Tum par hum hain atke yaara" of the film "Pagalpanti".

This juried competition will award cash prizes to the top three entries: $500 for Best of Fest, $200 each for Best Sci-Fi and Best Fantasy selections. The winning shorts will then be featured at the Science Center’s First Fridayprogram on Friday, May 4, 2018, and will screen in the Science Center’s Omnimax® Theater. Credited with Bollywood’s popular laugh riots “No Entry” and “Welcome”, filmmaker Anees Bazmee says comedy is the toughest genre to work on for a writer, and when a movie is loaded with double entendres, it’s merely a “shorcut”.

Of late, the Hindi film industry has witnessed a surge in comedy entertainers, but a sex comedy laced with sexual innuendos seem to be the current favourite flavour. Bazmee is not all for it.

“There are some good comedy films even now, but comedy films which are double-meaning and are a shortcut. I don’t want to make them and I don’t want to watch them. I don’t want to even say whether they are good or bad… My personal choice is to work around buffoonery,” Bazmee told Ians in an interview.

Us in Progress Wrocław 2016 submissions are now open. This little-known event in Poland offers American indie filmmakers one of the biggest opportunities in the world to meet the international trade in an intimate and fun setting. Every year one of the films here seems to make it into Sundance. The filmmakers get to know European buyers, sellers and programmers. The great thing about European film festivals is that they do not take your money and then refuse your film. They cost nothing to apply and can make your reputation abroad.

Submissions are now open for the sixth edition of the Us in Progress (October 26-29), a co-production forum held in Wroclaw, during 7. American Film Festival. Applications for projects will be open until August 15, 2016. No entry fee is required.

Us in Progress is a unique event presenting independent American projects in final production stages to top European buyers (sales agents, distributors and festival programmers), post-production houses and festivals in order to help them achieve completion and to foster the circulation and general exposure of American independent work in Europe. The forum is composed of invitees-only screenings of the American feature narratives in rough-cut stage with a filmmaker-producer teams in attendance. Formal one-to-one talks and informal meetings further facilitate networking and exchange.

Applications are open for Us-produced narrative feature projects in post-production stage:

• looking for completion money, services and sales agent or European distribution

• projects in post-production when applying, with at least 30 min of the film edited and to reach feature format by the presentation date. If selected, the feature length version of the rough/fine cut will be presented. No excerpts or trailers will be accepted.
