The series was animated by Saerom Animation, who also did the animation for the Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Adventure Time, and Regular Show.
My Gym Partner's a Monkey also contains fourth wall jokes, which is a running gag used in other Cartoon Network shows, like Ed, Edd n Eddy, Dexter's Laboratory, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, Sheep in the Big City, and Chowder.
The series first aired as a sneak peek on Cartoon Network's Sneak Peek Week in late 2005, airing alongside Ben 10, Robotboy, and Zixx.
