The Breed

Interview: E. Coli, overly nice killer dogs, and other craziness made the Production of A Breed Apart truly Once in a Lifetime!
Image
I’m not sure there are many people that even remember the Wes Craven-produced film The Breed from 2006. Boasting performances from Michelle Rodriguez and Oliver Hudson, it came and went without much fanfare. Which makes it the perfect candidate for a reboot! Updating the story to be about influencers heading to an island, things go awry when the dogs on the island start attacking them. Because if there’s one group of people I’d love to see get attacked by rabid dogs: it’s influencers.

I chatted with directors Nathan and Griff Furst about the challenges of filming in Guatamala that included nearly everyone on the cast/crew getting sick. Page Kennedy (who will always be Radon Randell from Blue Mountain State to me) was very transparent about how he went to bat for his character. And Riele Downs gets into how the dogs were actually much nicer...

'A Breed Apart' Directors Explain Their "Different" Approach to "Unofficial" Wes Craven Sequel
Image
It's been 10 years since Wes Craven passed, but his legacy lives on. The horror master helmed a number of classics, from A Nightmare on Elm Street to Scream, and he also served as producer on countless other "scary movies." More recently, there was The Breed (2006), a creature feature set in an island cabin and centered around ravenous dogs. Now, almost two decades later, the sequel A Breed Apartis being released to the masses courtesy of Lionsgate and helmed by Griff and Nathan Furst. MovieWeb recently spoke with the filmmaker brothers to learn more about their uniquely meta follow-up to The Breed, which, as you'll find out, incorporates the actual production of the Craven-produced 2006 film into the plot itself.

"It's an unofficial sequel, and the reason why is, it was actually originally pitched to us. We didn't come up with the idea. One of the executive producers, which is the international financier,...

“I Want People To Have Fun. That’s Why We Made the Movie”: Page Kennedy and the Furst Brothers Talk Their Wild Dog Thriller a Breed Apart (Interview)
Image
For any fans of the critically panned and unwatched 2006 thriller The Breed, you’ll be happy to see a sort of spiritual sequel, without any of the original characters, story, or plot, in A Breed Apart. It’s a ridiculous movie about influencers who get hunted down by rabbit dogs, but an exciting watch nevertheless.

We here at FandomWire got to speak to co-star Page Kennedy (The Meg), alongside the writer/director/editor duo of the Furst brothers, Nathan and Griff, to explain how the film came to be and why silly movies like it should exist in the theatrical space.

A Breed Apart Interview

FandomWire: Let’s start with a basic question. Tell us about your character, Big Farmer Jay. Why did you take this role on?

Page Kennedy: Big Farmer Jay is a social media influencer who lives on the farm and is a rapper who uses his...

Confused Script and AI-Generated Dogs Make ‘A Breed Apart’ a Baffling Misfire [Review]
Image
Whether you’re talking about zero-budget Found Footage movies or tentpole blockbuster productions, getting a feature-length film off the ground is always a herculean task. That’s why it’s so tragic when a project goes off the rails, as I think most cinephiles can agree that no cast or crew has ever wanted to be part of a bad movie.

I bring this up because I want to believe that the Furst Brothers’ horror-comedy A Breed Apart is not the movie that the filmmakers originally set out to make. Only a particularly turbulent production beset by unforeseen complications, one would think, could have resulted in such a messy final product that represents some of the worst trends in modern filmmaking.

A Breed Apart was marketed as a meta-fictional follow-up to the Wes Craven-produced killer dog film, The Breed. While the majority of horror fans only remember that one...

A Breed Apart Review: When Killer Dogs and Bad Tech Collide
Image
Every so often, a film’s premise lands on your desk that feels like a perfectly engineered B-movie setup, the kind that could either become a cult favorite or a cautionary tale. “A Breed Apart” barks loudly with that kind of energy right from the start. The core idea is deliciously simple: a collection of social media mavens, each chasing viral fame, are lured to a remote island.

Their host, a flamboyant fellow influencer, promises a high-stakes contest with the island itself as the grand prize. The catch? The island is teeming with some very un-photogenic, genetically agitated dogs. This isn’t your typical influencer retreat; it’s a creature feature with horror-comedy ambitions, a spiritual successor perhaps, in its wild-canine-chaos theme, to the 2006 film “The Breed,” though it charts its own distinct, and decidedly more over-the-top, territory.

You can almost feel the gleeful, schlocky intent, promising a particular brand...

A Breed Apart Review – Absurdity Unleashed
Image
When I was twenty-years-old I watched The Breed, a cheesy killer dog movie starring Michelle Rodriguez at the height of her popularity. By no stretch of the imagination was it a “good” movie, but nearly twenty years later I still remember it. It’s the type of mind-numbing popcorn flick that goes great with an extra cheese pizza and a cold refreshing beer. It’s not the type of movie that I’d ever imagined would get a sequel, especially not nearly two decades later. While A Breed Apart isn’t exactly a direct follow-up to its predecessor, it maintains the absurdity of the original while doubling down on the comedy.

The plot

A movie set is abandoned when the canine actors unexpectedly contract rabies and attack their animal handlers. The dogs are left to freely roam the island until several years later when a group of influencers are called...

'A Breed Apart's Grace Caroline Currey and Riele Downs Face a Wes Craven-Inspired Horror in New Image [Exclusive]
Image
One of Wes Craven's cult classics is getting a spiritual successor this summer in the form of A Breed Apart. Written and directed by The Furst Brothers, the survival horror comedy puts a new spin on 2006's The Breed, a film produced by the legendary Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream director that starred Michelle Rodriguez and followed a group of college kids on a "deserted" island where dogs were bred to kill. The new feature modernizes the concept, instead centering on a private island retreat where a group of social media influencers are confronted with man-eating beasts and forced into a deadly fight for survival that pits them against one another. We're excited to include the chilling survival flick as part of Collider's Exclusive Preview event for summer movies and share a new image highlighting two of the stars who will be thrown to the hounds on...

Shazam! Fury Of The Gods Star Grace Caroline Currey Vs. Killer Dogs In A Breed Apart Red Band Trailer
Image
Late A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last House on the Left and Scream director Wes Craven was responsible for some of the most iconic movies, characters and moments in horror cinema, but he was also behind his share of duds, and one of 'em is getting a (very) loose remake.

Craven didn't actually direct 2006's The Breed, but he was a producer on the film, and recruited his A New Nightmare assistant director Nick Mastandrea to helm. The movie was not well-received (to say the least), so it was generally assumed that a remake could only be an improvement.

The original movie focused on two brothers and their friends travelling to an island cabin they inherited from their recently deceased uncle for a relaxing weekend getaway. The group is then besieged by genetically enhanced dogs bred to kill via an abandoned training facility on the Island. A Breed Apart...

Lionsgate’s A Breed Apart is described as “a hilariously harrowing tale of terror,” with the trailer mostly showcasing humans killing dogs rather than dogs killing humans.

Maybe skip this one, dog lovers…

Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey star alongside Page Kennedy (The Meg) in the new movie directed by filmmaking brothers Griff and Nathan Furst.

Killing Breed: Caitlin Stasey, Damon Herriman star in savage dog survival thriller
Image
A Breed Apart, which is an “unconventional reimagining” of the 2006 Wes Craven-produced film The Breed, isn’t the only killer dog movie coming our way in the immediate future. Deadline reports that we’re also getting a survival thriller called Killing Breed from actor turned writer/director Matt Day, and Caitlin Stasey (Smile) and Damon Herriman (The Bikeriders) have signed on to star in it. Production is scheduled to begin in Australia in May 2025. The project was developed with the financial assistance of the South Australian Film Corporation and Architect is handling worldwide sales.

Killing Breed will pit a family, desperately fighting for survival at an isolated Outback lodge, against a raging bushfire, out of control and consuming everything in its path, and three savage dogs, trained to kill and now unleashed into the wild. Day said, “Killing Breed is a character-driven survival thriller grounded in raw, authentic emotion,...

Hayden Panettiere joins Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey in A Breed Apart
Image
Back in June 2024, we learned that Fall stars Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey would be starring in an upcoming remake of the natural horror film The Breed. Well, guess who just joined the cast? Scream star Hayden Panettiere! She, along with several others, will be starring alongside Gardner and Currey in the new horror film.

Wait! We need to clear some things up about this movie first. It's not actually a remake. It was initially believed to be one, but instead, it's a sequel to The Breed. It's also been given an official title, A Breed Apart.

While it's still unclear who is writing the script for the film, filmmaking brothers Nathan and Griff Furst (Nightmare Shark) will be directing and producing via their Curmudgeon Films production company. In addition, Daro Film Distribution is signed on to co-produce and will be financing the movie as well.

Hayden Panettiere Joins ‘A Breed Apart’ As Survival Movie Based On Cult Wes Craven Film Rounds Out Cast
Image
Exclusive: Hayden Panettiere will star in A Breed Apart. Known for playing Claire Bennet in Heroes, Kirby Reed in slasher franchise Scream and Juliette Barnes in Nashville, Panettiere will take an as yet unspecified role in the film, which uses Wes Craven’s cult 2006 picture The Breed as a jump-off point.

In addition to Panettiere signing on, Deadline can also reveal the film has rounded out its ensemble cast.

Joey Bragg, Troy Gentile, Riele Downs and Page Kennedy will all appear. They join the previously announced Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey, who were seen together in vertigo-inducing Netflix movie Fall.

Billed as a reimagining of Wes Craven-produced and Nicholas Mastandrea-directed The Breed, the upcoming movie is more accurately a sequel of sorts and is set after events of the first film. The new picture originally bore the same name, but the title has now been tweaked.

Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey to reunite for The Breed remake

‘Fall’ Stars Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey Reunite for ‘The Breed’ Remake
Image
With a sequel to the fear-of-heights thriller Fall on the way, Variety reports this week that the two stars of the 2022 movie will reunite for the upcoming remake of The Breed, a new take on the killer dog horror movie that was produced by Wes Craven back in 2006.

Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Currey will star alongside Page Kennedy (The Meg) in the remake that’s being directed by filmmaking brothers Sean and Bryan Furst.

The remake is described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” though again the original movie wasn’t directed by Craven and isn’t quite a cult classic.

In any event, Curmudgeon Films will be producing The Breed. In the fresh take on the 2006 horror movie, “Violet [Grace Caroline Currey] is a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

Fall Stars Reunite for New Survival Thriller
Image
After working together on the 2022 thriller Fall, actors Virginia Gardner and Grace Caroline Curry reunite for a remake of the cult classic survival horror film The Breed. This will be the second time they have worked together in the thriller genre.

The 2006 Wes Craven-produced film The Breed followed a group of friends attempting to survive a pack of rabid dogs residing on an island inherited by brothers John and Matt, originally played by Oliver Hudson and Eric Lively. Deadline reports that the remake will be a reimagining of the original film and will thus be a different take on the source material. With the success of Fall, The Breed will see Gardner and Curry once again teaming up to take on the thriller genre. Along with Gardner and Curry, the remakes cast features actor Page Kennedy, known for his role in The Meg.

I thought the movie just slipped into obscurity, since I don’t think I’ve heard anyone reference it in the eighteen years since its release, but apparently it has gained enough of a cult following that it’s now getting the remake treatment. A couple weeks ago, we learned that Grace Caroline Currey of Fall is set to star in the film, and now Variety reports that Page Kennedy – who had to deal with man-eating sharks in The Meg and Meg 2: The Trench – has joined Currey in the cast of this killer dog redo.

Where the original was a classic "cabin in the woods" style horror adventure, this new interpretation will take a slightly different approach. Here, the new protagonist Violet (Grace Caroline Currey), is described as "a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror." In short, it sounds like The Green Inferno but with dogs instead of cannibals.

Grace Caroline Currey is set to star in a remake of The Breed
Image
In an interesting bit of remake news, a 2006 film that was produced by horror icon Wes Craven will be remade for a new horror reimagining. The Breed starred Fast & Furious family member Michelle Rodriguez and Oliver Hudson. Variety reports that director brothers Sean and Bryan Furst will be sitting in the director seats for the new incarnation, which has been described as an “unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic.” The brothers will produce the horror film together through their company, Curmudgeon Films.

It has also now being said that Grace Caroline Currey, who is known as Mary in both Shazam and Shazam: Fury of the Gods, as well as starring in 2022’s suspense flick Fall, is set to star in the remake for the Furst brothers. The plot of the movie revolves around Currey’s character Violet, who is “a rebel icon and badass on a mission...

The Breed (2006)
Wes Craven Produced Horror Movie ‘The Breed’ Getting a Remake
The Breed (2006)
Anyone remember The Breed? Released in 2006, the Nicholas Mastandrea-directed killer dog movie is notable for being produced by the late Wes Craven, though it’s been largely forgotten in the many years since its release. Almost 20 years later, The Breed gets a remake!

Variety reports this week that Grace Caroline Currey (Fall) will star in the upcoming remake of The Breed, which will be directed by filmmaking brothers Sean and Bryan Furst.

The remake is described as “an unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic,” though again the original movie wasn’t directed by Craven and isn’t quite a cult classic.

In any event, Curmudgeon Films will be producing The Breed. In the new take on the 2006 horror movie, “Violet [Grace Caroline Currey] is a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

The original movie was loaded with familiar faces,...

‘Fall’ Star Grace Caroline Currey to Lead ‘The Breed’ Remake (Exclusive)
Image
Grace Caroline Currey has joined the cast of “The Breed,” and is set to lead the film. Directed by brothers Nathan and Griff Furst, the film is an “unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic.” The brothers will produce together through their company, Curmudgeon Films.

The film centers around Currey’s character Violet, “a rebel icon and badass on a mission to search for abandoned dogs on a remote island which leads to complete adrenaline-fueled terror.”

Currey most recently starred in Lionsgate’s adventure thriller, “Fall,” directed by Scott Mann. The film follows two daredevil climbers, Becky (Currey) and Hunter (Virginia Gardner), who decide to scale the B67 TV tower — an abandoned 2,000-foot communication tower that juts up in the middle of the California desert.

She also portrayed superhero Mary Marvel and Mary Bromfield in “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” alongside co-stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer,...

12 Best Killer Dog Movies, Ranked
Image
Killer dog movies offer a terrifying twist - beloved pets turning into deadly beasts. From rabid dogs to genetically engineered killers, this subgenre offers various plotlines. Some killer dog movies deliver social commentary, all feature survival against scary pets.

There are a lot of monsters in horror movies, but killer dog movies are much more terrifying as the threat comes from deadly beasts that were once beloved pets. One of the earliest examples of this wasn't a horror movie but was a tense drama from 1936 called Killer-Dog, a story about a family dog accused of killing sheep. However, before the dog is put down, the family asks a judge to determine its fate. While that was mostly about proving the dog's innocence, the killer dog movies that arrived decades later caused fear by showing a family pet turning into an out-of-control killing machine.

Even though it's a specific horror subgenre,...

Ghostface Glossary: A Guide to Every Horror Reference in ‘Scream 4’
Image
Welcome to the Ghostface Glossary, a guide to every horror reference and nod throughout the first five films of the Scream franchise.

After a lot of pausing, rewinding, and zooming in, as well as researching, we’re catching all of the many horror-specific references Williamson, Craven, and Co. included in this beloved postmodern slasher franchise. If we’ve forgotten any glaring ones, kindly let us know.

This guide will exclude homages from previous Scream films and their respective sequels— we’re only looking at outside horror franchises and inspirations, because any red-blooded Ghostface fan is likely already aware of those. (Goes without saying that the beloved faux franchise ‘Stab’(s) 1-8 will also not be counted, since, even though our neon green ‘Stab’ t-shirts and mock VHS tapes feel very real, it’s still a very fake franchise). If we’ve forgotten any glaring ones, kindly let us know.

Cannes’ Critics Week Unveils 2022 Lineup Under Ava Cahen’s New Leadership
Image
Critics’ Week, the sidebar dedicated to first and second films running alongside the Cannes Film Festival, will be kicking off with Jesse Eisenberg’s feature debut “When You Finish Saving the World” and showcase four female-directed movies.

Selected out of 1100 submitted movies, the full roster includes 11 feature films, seven of which will compete and four will play as special screenings.

“When You Finish Saving the World,” which is headlined by Julianne Moore and Finn Wolfhard, revolves around the relationship between a politically-engaged mother and her fame-obsessed teenage son, who is also a burgeoning musician. The A24 movie is based on Eisenberg’s 2020 audio drama of the same name and was part of the Sundance 2022 selection.

“We already adored Eisenberg as an actor and discovered him as a true auteur with this film that’s both tender and contemporary and exposes a generational gap between a mother and her son,” said Ava Cahen,...

Gender Violence Survivors Find Their Voice in ‘La Vida de Nosotras’ Trailer (Exclusive)
Image
Few productions set to air in 2022 promise the emotional impact and political urgency of “La Vida de Nosotras,” which translates to “Our Lives” in English, a five-part short-form series telling the true stories of 16 women – three or four per episode – who suffered from, fell victim to or overcame patriarchal violence.

Up-and-coming director Bárbara Barrera Morales directs all five of the series’ episodes, produced by International Emmy-winning filmmaker Hernán Caffiero and Btf Media co-founders Francisco Cordero and Ricardo Coeto. In fact, much of the film’s technical crew worked together on Caffiero’s Emmy-nominated series “Una Historia Necesaria.”

“La Vida de Nosotras” boasts an impressive cast in front of the camera as well, including cinema standouts such as “The Maid” lead Catalina Saacedra; Alejando Goic, who starred in Pablo Larraín’s Berlin Jury Prize-winner “The Club”; “Violeta Went to Heaven’s” Francisca Gavilan; and Amparo Noguera, who recently starred in “La Jauria,...

‘Señorita 89’ Showrunner Lucia Puenzo: ‘Beauty is, Without Doubt, an Excuse to Talk About Other Things
Image
Since teaming with “Spencer” director Pablo Larraín and his brother Juan de Dios at Chile’s Fabula, few Latin America writer-directors have shaken up the region’s TV scene as much as Argentina’s Lucía Puenzo.

That cuts various ways, in both artistic and industry terms. “La Jauría” Season 1 premiered at 2019’s Zurich Festival, first flagging the talents of Lucía and brother Nicolas Puenzo, its director/Dp in a series which drilled down on multiple manifestations of sexual abuse.

The series also marked the first fruit of a first-look production-distribution alliance between Fabula and Fremantle.

Unveiled one year later, “Señorita 89” marks Fabula’s first production at its Mexico base and extends its co-production partners to include global streamer Starzplay and L.A.-based Spanish-language platform Pantaya.

Following powerful sales on “La Jauría,” to Amazon and HBO Max for the U.S., Fremantle announced last month that a third season...

Tango Legend Carlos Gardel Gets Bio from ‘La Jauria’ Co-Producer Kapow, ‘El Angel’s Luis Ortega (Exclusive)
Image
Carlos Gardel, the most famous figure in tango history, is set to become the subject of a bio-series made by Kapow, the Argentine producer of HBO Max/Amazon hit “La Jauría,” and Luis Ortega, director of episodes of Netflix’s “El Marginal” as well as smash hit true crime feature “El Angel.”

Currently being written by Ortega, with partner Rodolfo Palacios at their prodco El Despacho, which will co-produce the series, the series should be ready for presentation by around the end of May, Ortega told Variety.

Designed as an “auteur, premium and original” production and part of Kapow’s fiction department output, the bio has to be high-end, said Kapow founder Agustín Sacanell. “This has to be a big production to be done well. It can’t be done on a modest budget,” he added.

The series is inspired by Felipe Pigna’s 500-page plus biography of the singer-composer,...

Sebastian Schindel’s RomCom/Spy Adventure Hybrid ‘Mienteme’ Shoot Underway (Exclusive)
Image
Principal photography is underway on Argentine Sebastian Schindel’s romcom-spy adventure hybrid “Mienteme” (“Lie to Me”). Delayed slightly by the pandemic, filming of the Chilean-Argentine co-production has been taking place in and outside of Buenos Aires, now experiencing a summer heat wave.

Schindel is best known for psychological thrillers such as his upcoming film for Netflix, “La Ira de Dios” (“The Wrath of God”) apparently even darker than his previous films. “Mienteme” would be his first romcom. Schindel, who has a strong background in documentary filmmaking, said in a previous interview: “We are betting on playing the limits between reality and fiction.”

“There are a lot of firsts in this film,” said Argentine lead and co-producer Lucas Akoskin who plays opposite his wife in real life, Chile’s Leonor Varela. “It’s my first time to work as an actor in Argentina and our first time to work together as a couple,...

Fremantle Develops New Seasons of ‘La Jauría,’ ‘Señorita 89,’ Fires Up Latin American Format Biz (Exclusive)
Image
Underscoring the robustness of a fast evolving Latin American TV market, U.K. production-distribution giant Fremantle and the Larraín brothers’ Fabula have in development a third season of gender abuse thriller “La Jauría” and second season of “Señorita 89.”

The moves comes as Fremantle is firing up both its premium scripted series and entertainment format business in Latin America, which is fast emerging as a key growth market for platforms and heavyweight independent production-distribution companies such as Fremantle.

Total Fremantle revenues from Latin America increased by 25% from 2019 to 2021 with production revenues in the region rising by nearly a third in the same period, said Jens Richter, Fremantle CEO, international.

Both series come from Lucía Puenzo, fast consolidating as one of the foremost showrunners in high-end Latin America drama. “La Jauría” season two was co-produced by Amazon which took rights to Latin America and Spain. It was sold to HBO Max for the U.

Lucia Puenzo’s ‘Señorita 89’ Gets First Teaser Trailer as Pantaya Announces U.S. Premiere Date
Image
One of the most anticipated of series from Latin America in 2022, Lucía Puenzo’s “Señorita 89” will premiere in the U.S. on Feb. 27, bowing on Spanish-language streaming service Pantaya which has also dropped official teaser key art and a first-look teaser trailer.

Produced by Academy Award winners Pablo and Juan de Dios Larraín and Fabula, Pantaya, Starzplay and Fremantle, “Señorita 89” is showrun by Puenzo who is rapidly emerging as one of the Latin America’s foremost film and TV writer-directors after “La Jauría,” first fruit of a first-look deal between Fabula and Fremantle.

“La Jauría” drilled down on multiple forms of sexual abuse, powered by a thriller format. “Señorita 89’ look as if it might do the same but in a far different context, exposing the unseen and unseemly reality behind the glamor of a 1989 Miss Mexico beauty pageant.

As the teaser trailer shows, the drama thriller is set in a seeming paradise,...

Digital Disruption Shifts TV Sales Plans at Markets Like Mipcom
Image
With the majority of big global TV distributors opting out of a physical presence at Mipcom, the flashy stands have been replaced by snazzy digital platforms showcasing content rolling out starting this fall.

Among them are a series of virtual festivals by Banijay, which acquired Endemol Shine in summer 2020 and boasts a catalog of more than 88,000 hours of programming. Rather than join Mipcom organizer Reed Midem’s virtual Mipcom Online Plus event, the mega-indie is going its own way, as are so many other distributors.

The latest of its planned digital forays is a non-English language scripted festival designed to showcase the group’s eclectic mix of European dramas. These include six-part French show “Germinal,” a modern adaptation of Émile Zola’s classic 1985 coal-mining strike saga; Swedish boarding-school drama “A Class Apart”; and Italian coming-of-age series “My Ballerina,” a co-production with Italy’s Mediaset.

Movistar Play’s New Chilean Musical Series ‘Los Prisioneros’ Bows Episode One at Iberseries Platino Industria
Image
Chilean bio-musical series “Los Prisioneros” had its European debut at Madrid’s inaugural Iberseries Platino Industria on Sept. 28 where it screened in the event’s Chapter One sidebar.

Taking place in the mid ‘80s, the eight-episode show kicks off with the titular iconic band Los Prisioneros playing their sardonic protest songs to a rowdy, unappreciative crowd. It’s only when they perform at Chile’s then biggest entertainment show, “Sabado Gigante,” hosted by the equally iconic Don Francisco, that their career takes flight.

Episode one shows the key moments of their debut on the show and the start of their career, which later led to their persecution by the military regime and censorship on Chilean radio and television. To this day, their songs are anthems at protest rallies in the region, most recently in Chile and Colombia.

“Their songs have become ever more relevant, they still resonate to this day,...
