Simu Liu was a guest dragon on CBC’s Dragons’ Den, the Canadian version of Shark Tank.
After a clip of Liu criticizing a boba company for cultural appropriation went viral, some fans have taken it upon themselves to send death threats, something that the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star is condemning.
“I want to say that I think we hit on a really important discussion about cultural appropriation, what it is, how is something exploitative rather kind of paying homage and paying respect, when is that line crossed, and in that conversation, by the way, I’ve experienced a massive wave of positivity and support from people from every community and I just think that’s really incredible and I really appreciate that,” Liu said in a video he shared on TikTok. “On the flip side, I’ve been made aware that the business owners...

Simu Liu sparked a conversation about cultural appropriation and bubble tea after an appearance on Dragons’ Den.
The 35-year-old star appeared on a recent episode of the show, which is a Canadian twist on Shark Tank where businesses present their ideas and seek backing from tycoons, known as Dragons.
On the show, a company called Bobba presented their business plan and explained how they were putting their own spin on bubble tea (also known as boba tea), a traditional Taiwanese drink.
However, Simu took issue with idea, pointing out that it could verge on cultural appropriation. After the episode aired, he took to social media to call out bullying that the business and other Dragons on the show received.

As was the case from 2006-2007, this year’s Best Structured Reality Program Emmy lineup perfectly matches last year’s. Although this probably bodes well for reigning six-time champion “Queer Eye,” this race differs from the last in that the Netflix show’s five stars missed out on a fifth consecutive Best Reality Host nomination. This slightly increases the comeback odds of “Shark Tank,” which won here four years in a row before “Queer Eye” came along and ended its streak.
“Shark Tank” and “Queer Eye” are indeed the only shows that have triumphed in this category since it splintered off from the catch-all Best Reality Program one in 2014. The three nominees once again attempting to become the third recipient of this specific prize are “Antiques Roadshow,” “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” and “Love Is Blind.”

Despite other offers, Cam MacKugler chose to partner with Lori due to her experience in the home and garden industry. Seedsheet's appearance on Shark Tank led to a massive deal with Lori Grenier for $500,000 for 20% of the company. After the Shark Tank effect, Seedsheet experienced millions in sales post 2020 due to promotions on QVC and the Covid-19 pandemic.
When Cam MacKugler of Middlebury, Vermont came on Shark Tank with a seedsheet sample for the sharks, he managed to get himself and his company a massive deal. Controversy over the promotion of ear seeds and acupuncture as a recovery aid for Me on Dragons’ Den has led the BBC to edit the program and add a clarification.
The episode of the 20-year-old business format was removed from BBC iPlayer earlier this week following a backlash to Giselle Boxer’s Acu Seeds business pitch, which received £50,000 investment in exchange for a 10% investment in the company.
Now, the BBC has said the show has been returned to iPlayer but “edited since broadcast to clarify aspects of the Acu Seeds pitch.”
A note on iPlayer says “advice should always be sought from a qualified healthcare provider about any health concerns.”
Having received complaints about the pitch, the BBC clarified that the ear seeds were “never described as a cure for Me” and said “Dragons’ Den does not, and has never, set out to offer medical advice, and we believe its audience understands this.

The BBC has pulled an episode of Dragons’ Den after a backlash due to a claim from a contestant that acupuncture and ear seeds helped her recover from Me.
Letters have now been sent to politicians and to the BBC over the claim, and others, which could force the long-running business format into a period of reckoning.
In the episode, which aired last Thursday, contestant Giselle Boxer said “diet, acupuncture, Chinese herbs and ear seeds” helped with her recovery from the condition, and led her to turn the idea into the brand Acu Seeds. She received £50,000 in exchange for a 10% investment in the company. The Daily Mirror quoted Boxer as saying the BBC had approached her to take part in the show.

Greg Davies and Alex Horne have made the UK's Taskmaster into an addictive cultural phenomenon. The Avalon TV series features a new lineup of comedians every season, but the mission is always the same: complete hilarious and ambitious tasks with the goal of impressing the Taskmaster and earning the most points. TV viewers have never seen anything like this show, which has run the gamut from "perform the greatest safety demonstration" to "score a goal with a steamroller."
Horne created the series and serves as the Taskmaster's endearing right-hand man, "Little Alex Horne," while The Inbetweeners star Davies is delightfully ruthless as the title character. Their chemistry and ability to play off the energy of the contestants has propelled the show for 16 seasons and counting and inspired books, board games, merchandise, and a dedicated streaming service. Taskmaster isn't just a comedy panel show anymore. It's become a worldwide pop culture phenomenon.

Warning: contains spoilers for Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 (and – curveball – The Shield pilot).
The act of compiling a list of moments such as these – trawling through memories, devouring fan-sites, gorging on clips – really hammers home the joy of being a Game of Thrones fan. Whatever you thought of the latter seasons, or how the show ended, it’s impossible to recall certain moments from the fierce and frantic, frenetic, kinetic, splenetic, sprawling, sword-and-sorrow-soaked timeline without some part of you screaming: ‘Again! Again!’
The selection criteria here isn’t random, but neither is it scientific. The final results and rankings lay no claim to definitiveness. How could they? Whittling this list down to a mere 100 moments would’ve been tough. This is where you come in. If you feel that your favourite scene or iconic moment is conspicuous by its absence, then fly to the comments section and help us...

The BBC and BBC Studios have revealed that U.K. television coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest will be produced and broadcast from their broadcast center at Salford, Greater Manchester.
From this year the points awarded by the U.K. professional jury will be announced by the spokesperson from a North West of England location for the first time ever. This result will be beamed live to the Eurovision 2022 Grand Final hosts in Turin, Italy and to a global audience.
With an audience in excess of 180 million viewers, Eurovision is the world’s biggest and most watched song competition. The U.K. has participated in the contest 63 times but in recent years has an abysmal record, finishing last in 2021. Along with France, Germany, Spain and Italy, the U.K. is one of the so-called ‘Big Five’ countries that automatically qualify for the finals every year.
Salford will be the permanent production base for the U.
