I laugh when I hear people talk about how “The Bear” is a sure thing winner for Best Comedy Series and that it’s such a lock nothing whatsoever can derail it. Ha! Ha I say! Oh, it’s naturally the heavy favorite with its 23 nominations and has remained the overwhelming frontrunner clear through Emmy season, all right. In the Gold Derby combined Emmy odds, it’s running away with this race. The same is true of ““Shōgun” for drama after its giant haul of 25 Emmy bids. And nothing can beat “Baby Reindeer” for Best Limited Series, right? Jessica Gunning (“Baby Reindeer”) is a shoo-in for limited supporting actress, isn’t she? And no one could possibly beat Jamie Lee Curtis (“The Bear”) for comedy guest actress – could they?
But if Emmy history has taught us anything, it’s that upsets happen, even when it comes to shows and people considered locks.

Natalie Portman is making something of a comeback with her lead role in Todd Haynes‘ “May December,” which was released in US theaters on November 17. The Netflix movie will drop on the streaming service on December 1 but head to the big screen now to catch Portman’s best role in some time. She is Elizabeth, an actress heads to the home of a couple played by Julianne Moore (Gracie) and Charles Melton (Joe) to do research about them for a movie based on their past. Their dark past?
The older Gracie had an affair with Joe when he was just 13 and eventually had his baby when she was in prison. Portman delivers a multi-faceted performance here as an actress who acts like a star, a journalist, a seducer, and, most impressively, as Gracie herself. Portman’s transformation into Moore’s Gracie is special. Critics have described Portman’s performance as one of her very best.

The clock has stopped ticking for “60 Minutes Plus,” the streaming spinoff of the venerable CBS News mainstay that was once envisioned as a means of introducing the next generation of viewers to the popular Sunday newsmagazine that has been broadcasting for more than half a century.
Staffers were informed of the decision Thursday morning, according to people familiar with the matter. The company expects to work with employees to find other jobs within ViacomCBS and executives remain committed to making news programming a central part of Paramount Plus, which has been the most recent home of the new show.

November can be a slow month for streaming services. Amazon, however, is entering into 2020’s penultimate month with some steam.
Amazon is really beefing up its TV library in November 2020. Both Community (which arrives on Nov. 8) and Scrubs (Nov. 14) will be added to Amazon Prime this month and in the process complete the streaming trifecta: Netflix, Amazon, Hulu. That’s pretty impressive stuff for both shows. And then on the film side of things, November 1 sees the arrival of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Twilight, and the Underworld franchise. Somebody didn’t tell Amazon Spooky Season was over and bless them for it.
As for the originals, Alex Rider is the most intriguing TV series here. That is based on the British spy novel series and premieres on Nov. 13 on IMDb TV (which is available to all Prime subscribers). That will be followed by Steve McQueen’s Small Axe series on Nov.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Teefey thanked fans who took the time to remember Scarlett. Teefey posted throwback photos, including one of Gomez putting her hand on her mom's baby bump, as well as one of her holding Gomez as a baby.
"Thank you to all the fans who honored our Scarlett yesterday," Teefey wrote. "Dec 17th will never be the same, but we decide to celebrate her by writing her letters on red balloons and releasing them."
Teefey also noted that Monday marked the end of filming season two of her and Gomez's Netflix hit 13 Reasons Why, and that Scarlett "was there in spirit, as always." The producer also gave a shout-out to her husband, Brian, and their 4-year-old daughter Gracie.

Ken Shamrock has had a seen it all, done it all sort of career. He has been a Ufc champion, and appeared in the first ever Ufc event. He has been a Pancrase champion, wrestled in Japan, and went on to become an intercontinental champion in the WWE. As a pro wrestler, he was probably underrated. As a mixed martial artist, he was a pioneer – but time waits for no man.
Friday night at Bellator 149, Shamrock met longtime rival Royce Gracie, the man who beat him way back at Ufc 1, for the third time in their respective careers. The fifty-two year old Shamrock hadn’t won since 2010, and had recently lost to Kimbo Slice in Bellator. Gracie, however, hadn’t fought in over nine years, and at forty-nine years old himself and a decade removed from the action, it looked like Shamrock might finally get...

"It was a great semi-final actually, really great," Matt told us this morning. "Me and the boys always sit and watch it in our separate homes and we all comment on it on our WhatsApp group and we thought it was a fantastic semi-final."
And in fact, the boys are still such big Britain's Got Talent fans that they thought they'd swing by to perform on Friday's show - why not, eh? Matt revealed this morning that he's "so excited" about going back to the studios.
So without further ado, let's see what Matt thought of each of the acts last night.

The Britain's Got Talent judges made their final decision about which acts will perform in the live semi-finals in tonight's show.
After bringing the auditions to a close, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, Amanda Holden and David Walliams had the tough task of cutting down 200 acts to just 40.
The chosen ones will join the five golden buzzer acts - Calum Scott, Boyband, Revelation Avenue, Entity Allstars and Lorraine Bowen - in the live shows next week.
As usual, the judges had several disagreements during the decision process, with David Walliams ripping up one act's photo to make a point.
Even when the choices had been made some of the judges may have had regrets, with Simon Cowell wondering why they had decided to put through Michael Late, Jeffrey Drayton, Narinder Dhani, Mitch and Cally and Peter Lambert.
As Holden told the group that they want to find something "unique" that will...

Exclusive: Ld Entertainment has signed on to produce and finance Santa School, a Karen Janszen-scripted family film. Patrick Aiello is producing with Ld Entertainment CEO Mickey Liddell, and Pete Shilaimon. The film has elements of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, in that Santa Claus is confirmed to be real, and he wants to retire. That leads to a lengthy search for a worthy replacement. Aiello, who is producing As Above, So Below for Legendary, hatched the concept. Jennifer Monroe and Patrick Raymond will oversee for Ld Entertainment. The company began by acquiring finished films, but now is branching into production. Janszen’s script credits include A Walk To Remember, Duma, Gracie and Dolphin Tale. She’s separately adapting the Ingrid Law novel Savvy at Walden Media. She’s repped by Gersh and Rain Management.

This is probably the fluffiest article ever on Mumbrella.
Office dogs.
What, if anything, does having a pooch on the premises add to company culture? Does man’s best friend contribute to the creative process? Or do they, much like procurement types, tend to bark at people and shit on everything?
Like graffiti on office walls, a dog in the agency is one thing I’ve noticed a lot lately on my travels around adland. I wondered if lap dogs in hospital wards help the healing process, what role do they perform in an ad agency?
The first agency I noticed for its canine credentials was Spinach Advertising, an agency in Melbourne, a city where I’ve noticed plenty of dogs in agencies.
I was at Spinach’s office in St Kilda to catch up with their media director Ben Willee. After walking out of the lift, I was met first by a receptionist,...

This powerhouse trio of supermodel coaches will be responsible for molding, nurturing and transforming the promising contestants as they compete for the career opportunity of a lifetime. Additionally, famed fashion photographer and former model Nigel Barker will host the series. Oxygen has also tapped Andrew Frank, a veteran showrunner (“The Amazing Race” and “Survivor”), as executive producer. Produced by Shine America, “The Face” is scheduled to air in 2013 and casting for the aspiring models is currently underway. For more information, visit www.oxygen.com and follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/OxygenPR.
Oxygen viewers will gain access inside the world of modeling with “The Face,” which features three teams of models, each led by supermodel coaches Campbell, Kurkova and Rocha. The coaches will scout and choose their teams from aspiring young models nationwide before guiding them through assignments, which include photo shoots, runway shows and commercials for some of America’s best known brands. Throughout the series, the supermodel coaches will mentor these young hopefuls taking the lessons and skills they have learned and using them to guide their teams through challenges that accurately depict what it takes to have a career as a model and be the face of a brand. During the process, these young models will be exposed to the very best photographers, stylists and designers in the fashion world. In the end, one girl will be chosen to become ‘The Face’ of a well-known brand, earning a real contract as the brand ambassador. As the image of this brand, the winner will become a spokesperson for that company, representing it from all angles – in print, on-air and at brand-hosted events.
Naomi Campbell (Supermodel Coach)
One of the five original supermodels, Campbell was born in London and caught her break when she was 15 years old. She has graced the covers of more than 500 magazines during her career, and has been featured in campaigns for Burberry, Prada, Versace, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent and Valentino. She was the first black model to appear on the cover of Time magazine, French Vogue and Russian Vogue as well as the first British black model to appear on the cover of British Vogue. The runway was her domain as she showcased the collections of top designers, including Chanel, Azzedine Alaϊa, Christian Dior and Versace.
Additionally, Campbell has appeared in countless TV shows, music videos and films, including “The Cosby Show,” “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” Madonna’s “Erotica," Bob Marley's "Is This Love" and Michael Jackson's "In The Closet." Campbell is also responsible for an incredible amount of fundraising and charity work in South Africa and across the globe. She began charity work with Nelson Mandela in 1993, and in 1997 he named her “Honorary Granddaughter” for endless activism. In 2005, she established Fashion For Relief and hosted its first charity fashion show to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Since its conception in 2005, Fashion For Relief has presented shows in New York, London, Cannes, Moscow, Mumbai and Dar es Salaam, and has raised millions of dollars for various causes. Additional shows and events are scheduled to take place in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Karolina Kurkova (Supermodel Coach)- @karolinakurkova
Often called one of the last true supermodels, the Czech-born Kurkova has established herself as a fashion and entertainment icon, most notably gracing best-selling covers of fashion magazines worldwide, starring in numerous high-fashion campaigns, co-starring in a hit film franchise, and producing/starring in an international reality TV series. After becoming the youngest model to grace the cover of American Vogue at age 16, and being lauded as the "next supermodel" by its famed editor Anna Wintour, Kurkova walked the runways of haute couture fashion shows including Alberta Ferretti and Alexander McQueen. In 2005, she was named one of Victoria Secret's Angels and subsequently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007. In 2009, Kurkova starred in the live action film “GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra” and went on to play guest-starring roles on NBC's TV series “Chuck” and “30 Rock.”
More than a beautiful face, Kurkova received an award from the non-profit organization "Women Together" for her humanitarian work. She continues to campaign for the welfare of children through organizations such as AmFar, New Yorkers for Children and Global Youth Action Network. She has also done work on behalf of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund and Wounded Warriors. Married in 2009, Kurkova's proudest accomplishment is the role of mom to her two year-old son, Tobin Jack.
Coco Rocha (Supermodel Coach)- @CocoRocha

Nigel Barker (Host)- @NigelBarker
Barker, best known for his participation as a judge and photographer on the reality show “America’s Next Top Model,” is an English author, spokesperson, filmmaker, fashion photographer and former model. A natural fit to host “The Face,” Barker himself modeled for 10 years in London, Milan, Paris and New York City.

The 5’10” blue-eyed stunner, represented by Wilhelmina Models in New York, is a bold-faced name. Drew is now the laughingstock of the school and for some reason panty-raidin' Connor chooses this time to make his debut on Degrassi this season, which is weird because the last time I checked (just now), Connor Delaurier was actually A Freaking Crazy Person. Drew tries to buy back Bianca's affection with half an iPhone case from the 99-Cent We Don't Give A Damn store and Bianca's like Sorry, gonna go be smart and achieve my dreams now. Which is, in itself… hilarious.
Missed all this week's Degrassi recaps? Here you go!
Oh, hey Kc! All the randos are in this episode.
So Drew has hatched a plan to join The Degrassi Academic Somethingorwhat in order to win Bianca's heart while Katie has presumably retreated to her cave in Tokyo where she is preening herself and feeding on her daily diet of panda hearts, child's laughter, and breast milk.

Exclusive: On the 20th anniversary of Johnny Carson’s final Tonight Show, HBO has optioned Once Upon A Time In Beverly Hills, an article Matt Tyrnauer wrote in the March 2011 issue of Vanity Fair. HBO will develop it into a movie about the long, unusual relationship between Beverly Hills socialite Janet de Cordova and her longtime housekeeper Gracie Covarrubias. Tyrnauer, who helmed the documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor, will direct, and John Hoffman will write the script. Janet was the wife of Freddie de Cordova, Carson’s long time Tonight Show producer. She came to Hollywood hoping to use her beauty to become an actress, but through de Cordova she found her way into the center of the social swirl as one of the true socialites of her era. The de Cordova couple lived lavishly, and threw the most opulent A-list parties populated by the likes of Gary Cooper, Jack Benny,...

I admit, I've been waiting for this episode ever since I heard rumblings of a Danny centric with an ex-partner bent on revenge back in the fall. This season has seen so little really character centric episodes that didn't get overshadowed by case work (maybe 3 or 4) and Danny's (Scott Caan) time was past due. Plus, this had backstory on our favorite Jersey detective, and that, dear friends, is what wets my appetite. Add to that the fact that Scott Caan and Peter Greene just freaking owned this episode, and you've got the makings of a great Sweeps start. We open with any nervous flyer's worst nightmare: a murder at 30,000 feet. Us Marshal Dave Collins goes into the lavatory and never comes out. His prisoner, a con named Painter, disappears. The poor stewardess is traumatized to find the Marshal stabbed to death in the bathroom. I think the flight should get extra free drinks,...

The beginning of "Ua Hiki Mai Kapalena Pau" had me wondering if I had somehow missed an episode. I know that Agent Kaye had been investigating Wo Fat for McGarrett, but it would have been nice to get even a hint of what eventually led the Five-o to the front door of one of Wo Fat's safe houses.
With the end of the season looming large I suppose some things can be forgiven, especially with all the information that was jammed into this story that centered around an investigation of possible bio-terrorism.
It wasn't bio-terrorism really. It was pretty much straight forward murder with a loose connection to a bio-terrorist organization.
Was that a little disappointing?
It was, but the other revelations in the episode made up for it. For me the conclusion of the bio-chemical mystery just had too many moments where things fell conveniently into place. Plus, I...

I'm sure most of you aren't excited for the recent installment in the Warner Bros/Newline Final Destination franchise, but for those of us who carry a soft spot for Death and it's clever and sometimes ridiculous ways of killing off those silly people who try to escape it, this news is for you! When asked what could be expected in Final Destination 5 during an interview with Dread Central, Tony Todd responded "Thumbs up! Thumbs way up. They expanded my part, and the producer told me as we were leaving Vancouver that if it opens at Number 1 – which statistically it has – they’re going to shoot the next two simultaneously."Without an official trailer for Final Destination 5, it's tough to determine much about the film and of course, we already know that everyone dies at one point or another. Let's face it, who really goes to see a...

These final episodes of "Friday Night Lights" have brightened on some fronts. The Lions are back on the straight and narrow, buoyant bluegrass plays during most scenes and we're lingering a little bit longer on establishing shots and montages of Dillon. It's almost over, and the writing is on the wall.
But, to quote another beloved and departed series, it's not all hugs and puppies. The freshly paroled Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) just isn't the long-haired free spirit he used to be. He's a man beleaguered by anger, resentment and regret. So naturally he's taking it out on those closest to him. Billy (Derek Phillips) probably deserves this, but Becky (Madison Burge) doesn't. (Not that we don't agree with his questioning of her working at the Landing Strip).
Also? Vince (Michael B. Jordan) is a sweetheart again, so we need someone to be sort of a jerk.

"Friday Night Lights" kicks off its final 13-episode run on DirecTV with "Expectations."
And as East Dillon seems to be on the rise with a devoted guidance counselor, a handsome new student and an organized football team, the last vestiges of our formerly beloved Panthers leave town for college.
"Fnl's" return always makes our TV fall, so this last outing is clearly bittersweet -- much like everything that happens to the poor saps on this series. As they say, spoiler warning:
"I'm actually gonna miss this place"
Julie's (Aimee Teegarden) awkward roommate-intro phone call really set the tone for her and Landry's (Jesse Plemons) departure -- though we already know she's not actually going anywhere. Everyone else either left the series off camera or under different circumstances, so it was appropriate that we got that we finally got to experience that surreal last night in the hometown. We still remember...

Filmmaker Davis Guggenheim may be best known for the 2006 documentary that won him an Academy Award, 'An Inconvenient Truth', although a lot of people seem to associate that film solely with Al Gore. More recently, Guggenheim directed a feature film, Gracie, based on the high-school experiences of his wife, Elizabeth Shue, and It Might Get Loud, a documentary about the electric guitar with a focus on Jimmy Page, Jack White and The Edge.
Davis's most recent documentary feature, 'Waiting for "Superman' ,opens today (read our review). Like An Inconvenient Truth, it's an unabashed call to action, this time about the problems with America's public education system. The film focuses on five children who are not being served well by this system, and are hoping that "lotteries" for charter schools with bring them some help. Most are in inner-city public schools; one is having...
