'Any hole's a goal' must be the motto of young prison guard Robert, who spends much of his time in this sleazy WIP flick romping with the sadistic bisexual warden (Rita Silva) and inmate Conchita, who has suspiciously large hands. Mind you, it's slim pickings for randy male guards in this particular women's jail, where the majority of the prisoners are rougher than a rusty bastard file, director Gianni Siragusa's budget clearly not stretching to the hiring of quality bimbos.

Conchita (actually played by transsexual sexploitation star Ajita Wilson) is thrown into prison shortly after stashing a fortune in stolen jewels in a bank's safety deposit box. Naturally, she is desperate to escape and enjoy her newfound wealth, but with an angry crime boss keen to get his gems back, and a warden who rules her jail with an iron fist, things aren't going to be easy.

Written by Sergio Garrone, who also penned Siragusa's other equally lamentable WIP film Hell Penitentiary, this crap-fest consists of a succession of distinctly unerotic soft-core couplings, punctuated by the cat-fights, shower scenes, and mild torture expected of the genre. It's incredibly repetitive and extremely boring to sit through, with the slim plot about the missing jewels and the daring escape doing very little to alleviate the tedium. Whatever you do, don't consider a double bill of Hell Behind Bars and Hell Penitentiary: nobody deserves that!

This is so ridiculous, it's a marvelous unintended comedy.

Lots of gratuitous lesbian sex tossed in at various intervals, and of course, the evil warden woman (who may be the sexiest of them all).

There is a "plot" here with this, but the acting and production style are so, well, lacking that it's more or less superfluous.

It's the classic C- low budget lesbians in jail movie . . . Complete with incredibly cheesy music, grainy low grade film quality, the entire production filmed in some old estate house, and a couple of waterfront scenes.

No spoilers here, though such would be irrelevant.

Strictly for weird comedy value, it might be worth a watch.

Garbage and stupid from the beginning to the very end. What a crock of crap. Don't waste one minute of your life on this film. I wish I hadn't! Yep. Even the ending is stupid. Nothing tk see here.

It is an Italian film distributed by Troma, narrow screen and poorly dubbed. Released in 1984, it fits into the WIP pictures of that time, but there are others of that type done much better. There is the stereotypical warden who says things like "You will rot there without hope." In this prison, there are no wrongfully imprisoned inmates, so no one to really root for to get out. The soft core scenes are very tame, and even the shower scenes are less than most WIP pictures show. Even the deaths are done poorly, although death by sewer is different. Of course, there is a Mob figure in the picture. To come up with 600 characters to describe this movie is almost as painful as having watched it.

I recently watched the Italian film 🇮🇹 Hell Behind Bars (1984) on Tubi. The story follows a woman who murders her boyfriend after he double-crosses her by stealing a stash of diamonds. She's quickly caught and sent to prison, where the warden rules with brutal cruelty. From there, she begins plotting her escape-though it's anything but easy.

Directed by Gianni Siragusa (4 Billion in 4 Minutes), the film stars Ajita Wilson (Hellhole Women), Rita Silva (The New York Ripper), Linda Jones (Felony), and Alessandro Freyberger (The Wild Beasts).

This is pure grindhouse jailhouse cinema, delivering exactly what the genre promises: gorgeous women, full nudity from the opening scene, frequent sex (including girl-on-girl action), steamy shower sequences, girl fights, and rape scenes. There's even a particularly brutal butt scene and more tongue action than I expected. The plot is simple and predictable, and the low budget shows in the cinematography-but that's part of the grindhouse charm.

In conclusion, Hell Behind Bars is a solid women-in-prison exploitation flick for fans of the genre. I'd rate it 5/10.
