Sam Neill, Jared Harris, and Benedict Cumberbatch in To the Ends of the Earth (2005)

Trivia

To the Ends of the Earth

Edit
Benedict Cumberbatch, Denise Black and Theo Lande were robbed and kidnapped while filming in South Africa. They were on their way back from scuba diving when they had a flat tire on an isolated dirt road. An armed gang of six men came upon them, took their money, credit cards and mobile phones, frisked them for anything else of value, then put them into their car and drove away with them. Eventually, they stopped and forced Cumberbatch into the trunk of the car, but he began telling them that he had a heart and brain problem and might die in the small space, and they would get into a great deal of trouble if found with a dead Englishman. Following an argument among the kidnappers, he was taken out. After stopping under a bridge, the actors were made to get out and crouch, and after a few terrifying minutes, they realized their assailants had fled the scene.
Near the end, Edmund tells Mr. Summers that he deserves "to be made post on the spot". This means to be commissioned to command a rated ship for the first time, an important step in a naval officer's career.
The pale green gown with pink trim Paula Jennings (Zenobia) wears for Sunday services is the same gown Frances Grey (Amelia Sedley) wears in Vanity Fair (1998), and Christina Cole (Mrs. Elton) wears at dinner in Emma (2009).
Jared Harris plays the role of James Moriarty in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" (2011). Benedict Cumberbatch plays the titular role in "Sherlock" (2010). Both appear in this together.
The blue striped cotton day dress Victoria Hamilton (Miss Granham) wears is the same costume worn by Kate Beckinsale (Emma Woodhouse) while telling Mr. Knightley about Harriet's reply to Mr. Martin in Emma (1996), by Julie Cox (Annabella Milbanke) while writing to Byron in Byron (2003), and by Amanda Lawrence (Poyner) while working for the Meagleses in La petite Dorritt (2008).
