It's funny to think that this show hasn't existed forever. It was only introduced in 2004 when the BBC regained the rights to show the Premier League football highlights after it had been shown on ITV for a few years prior. I think the only thing people remember about that Des Lynman fronted programme was the 'Beautiful Day' theme music from U2.
Mark Chapman has made this show his own as the long-time host now, and should Gary Lineker ever decide to leave his very well paid chair (or be ousted from it for some comment he makes on X) then he would be a very good replacement.
A bit less formulaic than the main show, I enjoy MOTD2.
