Erkan Kolcak Köstendil is a multi-talented individual from Turkey. He is known for his work as an actor, writer, director, and singer. His family background includes his uncle, actor Bülent Sakrak. Köstendil was born and raised in Bursa, a major city in northwestern Anatolia. Initially, he aspired to become a goalkeeper, but his life took a different turn when he encountered two experienced actors who left a lasting impression on him. Inspired by them, he decided to pursue a degree in theater at the prestigious Mimar Sinan University of the Fine Arts.

Köstendil’s passion for the performing arts extended beyond acting. He ventured into writing, directing, and acting in plays and short films. One of his notable works is the play ‘Karsi Cinsle Tanisma Sanati’, where he showcased his talents as a writer and actor. Another play called ‘Aut’ earned him the title of ‘Actor of the Year’ and a ‘Young Actor Special’ award.

Snow leopard doc ‘The Velvet Queen’ secures UK-Ireland deal (exclusive)

It follows photographer and explorer Munier and writer Sylvain Tesson as they attempt to track down elusive snow leopards in the heart of the Tibetan highlands.

Modern Films has secured UK and Ireland rights to French documentary The Velvet Queen (La Panthère des Neiges), which debuted at Cannes and played in the Best of Fests section at International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) this week.

The UK distributor plans to release the feature theatrically in early 2022.

Eros International signs two-film co-production deal with leading Turkish film company Pana Film
Eros International Media Ltd (Eros International), a leading global film company in the Indian film entertainment industry, has announced two Indo-Turkish co-productions with one of the largest Turkish film studios, Pana Film, owned by leading Turkish actor Necati Sasmaz, best known for playing the lead role of Polat Alemdar in Turkey’s most popular television series Kurtlar Vadisi (Valley of the Wolves).

With proposed A list actors from India and Turkey, including Necati Sasmaz himself, both films will be collaborative with shoot venues and crews in both countries and will be made bilingual. Original stories blending Indian and Turkish cultures will be conceptualized and developed by Eros’ in-house writers along with top Turkish writers.

'Birth of a Nation' Trailer Explores a Bloody Slave Rebellion

Set against the antebellum South, The Birth of a Nation follows Nat Turner (Nate Parker), a literate slave and preacher, whose financially strained owner, Samuel Turner (Armie Hammer), accepts an offer to use Nat's preaching to subdue unruly slaves. As he witnesses countless atrocities, against himself and his fellow slaves, Nat orchestrates and uprising in the hopes of leading his people to freedom. The first teaser trailer has arrived for this intense new drama. And it is positioned to be the film to beat at next year's Academy Awards.

The Birth of a Nation won the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where it made it's debut. The film was picked up by Fox Searchlight for a record breaking $17.5 million. The film has been compared to 12 Years a Slave and Schindler's List. The historical drama will get a year-end Award Season release from Fox Searchlight.

Following three stunning weeks at the top of the box office chart, The King's Speech finally meets its match in the form of Disney animation Tangled, which debuts with an impressive £5.11m. That's way ahead of the number achieved by the last non-Pixar Disney animation, The Princess and the Frog, which began its run just under a year ago with £2.22m.

In fact, it was the disappointing figures for Princess that prompted yet another rethink on what Disney had long been developing as Rapunzel – the latest in its properties based on fairytale princesses.
