Warning: Spoilers for The Expendables 4 below.
Tony Jaa and Iko Uwais are wasted in The Expendables 4, with the movie not giving them enough time to show their skills. Dan Chupong and Mike Moeller are overlooked in the film, despite their impressive skills as martial artists. The Expendables 4 missed a huge opportunity by not giving Chupong and Moeller more significant roles and fight scenes with the main cast.
The Expendables 4 brings its mercenary crew back to the big screen for another mission, but also wastes the talents of two fantastic martial artists in the process. Arriving in theaters nine years after The Expendables 3, The Expendables 4 failed to reinvigorate the ensemble action franchise with poor reviews and the series's lowest opening weekend yet. The movie's disappointment is that much more unfortunate with Ong Bak's Tony Jaa and The Raid's Iko Uwais joining The Expendables franchise at last.

'Warrior' blossoms with Magnolia's release
Magnolia Pictures has acquired all North American rights to Dynamite Warrior (Tabunfire), a martial arts movie from Thailand directed by Chalerm Wongpim. Magnolia will release the film domestically this summer.
Produced by Prachya Pinkaew (Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior), the movie stars Dan Chupong (Born to Fight) as "the Rocket Thief," a young man bent on revenge after witnessing his parents' murder. It features stunts by stunt coordinator Panna Rittikrai, who also worked on Ong Bak.
" 'Dynamite Warrior' is an absolute blast. We're very happy to be working again with Sahamongkolfilm and Panna Rittikrai, who on the basis of this film and 'Ong Bak,' has established himself as one of the world's masters at orchestrating incredible action stunt mayhem," Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles said.
Magnolia's head of acquisitions Tom Quinn and head of business affairs Jason Janego negotiated the deal with Sahamongkolfilm exec vp Gilbert Lim. The two companies previously worked together on the launch of martial arts star Tony Jaa in his breakout film Ong Bak.
"Magnolia Pictures did a tremendous job introducing Tony Jaa to North American audiences. We're very excited to be working with them in a continuing effort to revolutionize the genre," Gilbert Lim.

Tarantino to advise Weinstein Asian label
CANNES -- Bob and Harvey Weinstein unveiled a new label Tuesday called Dragon Dynasty, under which the Weinstein Co. will release Asian films. Titles will include Ong Bak 2, The Protector (aka Tom Yum Goong), Born to Fight, SPL, Seven Swords and Dragon Squad. It will also encompass a package of 43 titles, which have been licensed from Fortune Star Entertainment, the distribution division of News Corp.'s STAR Group, which owns the world's largest contemporary Chinese language feature film library. In addition, Dragon will also handle a collection of 50 movies from the Shaw Brothers including John Woo's The Killer, Hardboiled, Bullet in the Head and A Better Tomorrow 1 & 2. Quentin Tarantino, a longtime champion of Asian cinema, will actively work with the Weinsteins in all aspects of Dragon's brand development.

Excuse me. Are you Tracy Chapman?”
She hears the question everywhere she goes, and her response is always the same. First, her eyes flash with wariness and momentary distaste; she looks as if she were ready to deny it and walk away. Then she grins: it’s an embarrassed, nervous grin, not a happy grin. Then she looks down at the ground, and without raising her eyes, she nods her head, quickly and almost imperceptibly. And finally — the process has taken all of one or two seconds — she answers the question.
