Chicago Fire puts characters in danger on a weekly basis. We see firefighters and medics putting their lives on the line to protect others. Unfortunately, it doesn't always end well. There have been several deaths over the course of the show's 13 seasons. Some of which, we are still reeling from.
In an effort to celebrate, grieve, and simply remember the Chicago Fire characters who have fallen, we decided to compile a list of every major death that has occurred, from the pilot to the present. It gets a little bleak, but such are the risks of the job. Our one rule is that the character in question had to have worked as a firefighter/medic.

James Gunn has taken on a monumental task of kicking off the live-action arm of the Dcu with a new Superman movie, and it seems there are some who are still not convinced that he can pull it off. The latest teaser for the movie, which features some new footage of Corenswet in action, has drawn the now expected criticism for its CGI, especially from those who have still not abandoned the belief that Henry Cavill should be the one leading the charge as the Man of Steel.
The latest TV spot begins with several moments that we have already seen in previous trailers, but then comes some new footage, including a short sequence of Corenswet flying through an icy landscape – presumably to the confrontation that leaves him battered and beaten in need to assistance from Krypto – which sees him doing a roll and flying face-front towards the camera. And,...

Tracy Morgan is getting candid about feeling “culturally isolated” during his early days at Saturday Night Live.
The comedian and actor, who was a castmember on the long-running NBC sketch comedy series from 1996 to 2003, shared on the Peacock docuseries SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night that while he was excited to join the show, it took some time to feel at home.
“I wanted to show them my world, how funny it was. But the first three years, I felt like I was being culturally isolated sometimes,” Morgan said before adding, “I’m coming from a world of Blacks. I’m an inner-city kid. To be on the whitest show in America, I felt by myself. I felt like they weren’t getting it.”
The 30 Rock alum said things got better after he opened up to SNL creator Lorne Michaels about how he was feeling.

During a recent podcast interview, The Brave and the Bold director Andy Muschietti said that the upcoming movie - which will introduce a new actor as the Dcu's Batman - has been "postponed a little bit," and that he might helm another project first.
This was followed by the news that Matt Reeves' The Batman sequel had been pushed back a full year, and will not hit theatres until 2027.
There were assumptions that these developments must be connected, with the delays giving Reeves and DC Studios co-head James Gunn more time to figure out how to proceed with these separate universes and decide whether they should make Robert Pattinson the Dcu's Dark Knight.
Gunn would later take to social media to claim that The Batman Part II (which will no longer be the film's official title) being pushed was simply down to the script being incomplete, and the Superman director...

While Superman's latest trailer has put all the attention on the Man of Steel, his cousin will follow suit with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is set for release nearly a year later. Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be directed by Craig Gillespie and star Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman. While many might have assumed Gunn would have spaced Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow out from Superman, it seems like Kryptonians will be leading the charge of the Dcu on film.
Yet Gunn didn't plan for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow to be the second Dcu film. Speaking with The Omelet (via translation from Cbr), Gunn revealed that it was screenwriter Ana Nogueira's script that convinced him to move forward with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow over other films like Swamp Thing, The Authority, or The Brave and the Bold, which are still in development.

Fans have been patiently waiting for James Gunn’s Superman film since it was first announced. There have been a lot of expectations placed on it, with audiences almost placing the entire future of the franchise on the shoulders of a new Kal-El.

Although fans could not be more excited about the film, the memory of Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel still plagues their memories. While there is no denying that the film was a masterpiece, Gunn made it explicitly clear that his take on the character would be different.
With this in mind, it is not surprising that the new film’s teaser is getting pushback for not emulating a similar feeling as Zack Snyder’s films.
James Gunn is taking a fresh approach to Superman that stays true to the source material.

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter has officially joined the ranks of superhero box office bombs. Despite its connection to the Spider-Man universe and a major marketing push, the Aaron Taylor-Johnson-led film opened to an abysmal $11 million domestically, marking one of the worst premieres for a Marvel-adjacent property in recent years.
But where does Kraven the Hunter stand in the pantheon of failed superhero movies? Let’s break down its disastrous performance, how it compares to other recent Sony misfires like Madame Web and Morbius, and what this could mean for superhero fatigue.
Kraven the Hunter: A Box Office Breakdown
Released on December 13, 2024, Kraven the Hunter was supposed to bring Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu) a grittier, darker edge. Instead, the film grossed just $11 million in its opening weekend, far below initial projections. With a reported production budget between $110–130 million, the film is poised to lose a significant amount for Sony Pictures.

Pamela Anderson makes a remarkable comeback to Hollywood with a dramatic performance in “The Last Showgirl.” This portrayal earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama, marking a watershed moment in her career after almost thirty years in the entertainment industry.
Anderson, 57, is well recognized for her memorable performance in “Baywatch.” Gia Coppola, granddaughter of famed filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, directed “The Last Showgirl,” which has gained critical acclaim and a 78% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes—an amazing success for Anderson.
In an emotional response to her nomination, Anderson wrote, “It is never too late to dream, start over, and remain open to possibilities. We are not all that fortunate. This great nomination goes out to The Last Showgirl family, my family, and my hardworking comrades on this interesting trip.”

The Last Showgirl is set to hit theaters next month, and for Pamela Anderson, landing the starring role in Gia Coppolas drama was a "life or death" moment for her. Anderson stars as Shelley, a seasoned showgirl who is faced with uncertainty after her Las Vegas show abruptly closes, leaving her to question what comes next. In a way, the movie mirrors her own life, as Anderson rose to stardom thanks to Baywatch, and has since struggled to find her footing in both her career and in life.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly ahead of The Last Showgirls theatrical debut on Dec. 13, Anderson said that upon reading the script penned by Kate Gersten, she immediately knew she had to say yes to the part, if for no other reason than that no one else was eager to feature her in a movie. She hasnt been seen on the big screen since 2022s Alone at Night,...

Scary Movie franchise star Regina Hall addresses the chances of returning for a potential sixth movie. The franchise began in 2000 with Scary Movie, a comedy-slasher parody film that spoofs prominent horror movies of previous decades, including Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and Friday the 13th. The movie was a box office success, grossing more than $278 million globally, and spawned four sequels. Recently, it was confirmed that Scary Movie 6 was in development.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Hall, who starred as Brenda Meeks in the franchise, discusses her future in the upcoming Scary Movie reboot. She first spoke about her excitement that the Wayans brothers (who created the franchise) were back at the helm and her love of co-star Anna Faris. However, the actor remained tight-lipped about whether she would make a return, seemingly hinting that she would be interested if there was scope for the character to return.

In the school yearbook of superhero projects, 2018's "Venom" would definitely have been voted "Least likely to succeed." It was an origin story about a supervillain whose comic book origins are inextricably tied to Spider-Man ... but Spider-Man wasn't even in it, being tied up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Instead, "Venom" was to be part of Sony's own shared superhero universe (which at one point bore the unfortunate acronym "Spumc").
Against all odds, "Venom" was a box office hit. Then the 2021 sequel "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" was also a sizable hit. And although this year's threequel is heading for the lowest opening weekend of the franchise so far, it'll still be the second-biggest opening for a superhero movie of 2024 to date. Per TheWrap, "Venom: The Last Dance" is on track for an estimated $52 million debut at the domestic box office after grossing $22 million on Friday (including previews). That's...

Negan's name was originally going to be Naygus, but changed thanks to unintentional inspiration from Star Trek. Negan's origin was also changed - Kirkman considered him being the unseen character 'Davidson' but decided against it. Maggie was originally going to kill Negan, but artist Charlie Adlard asked that he survive and see through his redemption arc.
Despite being one of the most iconic pop culture villains of the last couple of decades, The Walking Dead's Negan was almost completely different. Not only did the post-apocalyptic killer originally have a different name, but his story was meant to conclude with a brutal death. However, multiple changes shaped him into the character fans know today, and one of them was all thanks to Star Trek.

Exclusive: Everyone’s favorite adventurous toddlers are getting the big-screen treatment unlike any film or show in the franchise before, with sources telling Deadline that Rugrats, the classic Nickelodeon cartoon from the 1990s, is getting a live-action/CGI feature adaptation with Jason Moore on board to direct. Saturday Night Live star Mikey Day co-wrote the script with Streeter Seidell.
Created by Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain, the Nickelodeon series premiered in 1991 and became one of the network’s most popular series. It followed a group of toddlers — Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil — and their day-to-day lives, usually involving life experiences that become much greater adventures for the foursome.
The show would get rebooted in 1996 following three seasons and would go on to last through the 2000s. Its popularity led to three animated movies and a number of accolades, and has gained new life as a new generation discovers old episodes on streaming.

The Black Pacific, featuring Pennywise frontman Jim Lindberg, have announced their sophomore album and first LP in 14 years, Here Comes Our Wave.
Ahead of the September 20th release date — almost a 14 years to-the-day since their debut dropped in 2010 — the band offered up the original lead single and opening track “I Think I’m Paranoid” (not a cover of the Garbage song by the same name).
The track channels “post-9/11 anxieties and modern day fears,” according to the press release, and falls right in Lindberg’s melodic-punk wheelhouse. Given the sonic similarities, this is essentially an extension of Lindberg’s work in Pennywise — and considering that band hasn’t released an album since 2018, a boon for dedicated fans of the skate-punk act.

A role from the first Incredibles movie had interesting reasons to become a supervillain in Incredibles 2, but Disney chose to add an uninspired enemy instead. The twist villain in The Incredibles 2 follows an overdone Disney clich of introducing new characters only to turn them evil. The missed opportunity to create a compelling antagonist in The Incredibles 2 highlights the need for Disney to create more complex character arcs.
The Incredibles 2 was highly anticipated, yet the movie missed a perfect opportunity to feature a seriously shocking villain. As the sequel to a beloved Pixar film, Incredibles 2 made history at the box office for animated movies at the time of its 2018 release, drawing in both older fans who grew up with the original and younger kids dazzled by the cartoon superhero team. Frenchie's bisexuality was hinted at in previous seasons of The Boys, so his new relationship shouldn't be a shock to viewers. Frenchie's romance with Colin is a key focus in season 4, adding complexity to his character and relationships. The show's treatment of Frenchie's queerness with Colin feels genuine, reflecting a powerful narrative for viewers.
Many viewers of The Boys season 4 have expressed their shock at the "reveal" that Frenchie (Tomer Capone) is bisexual, but the character's queerness was disclosed well before the Amazon Prime Video show's fourth outing. Serge, better known as Frenchie, is one of the key members of Billy Butcher's titular anti-Vought vigilantes. A jack-of-all-trades with a history as a hired gun, Frenchie is haunted by his past mistakes, and his big heart is put on full display through his relationship with Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara). DC Studios has been in a bit of trouble as they have attempted to rescue the sinking ship of the superhero slates getting released. With James Gunn taking over as the co-ceo of the superhero brand with Peter Safran, Warner Brothers is expecting a ray of sunshine. But with the failed DC movies, the fate of several movies has been hazy, including Asher Angel’s Shazam 2.
Asher Angel in Shazam! Fury of the Gods
Gunn’s tenure in DC has started, but the beginning of his new version of DC Universe is yet to roll out, which will officially begin with his upcoming movie Superman. Failure of the recent DC flops was a huge question mark on several heroes’ return— Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, Ezra Miller’s The Flash, and Zachary Levi’s Shazam 2. The animated TV series Teen Titans, based on the eponymous DC Comics superhero team, premiered in July 2013 released to generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences. Over the years, it gained a significant fan following for its unique storytelling, character development, and blend of action, humor, and drama.
A still from Teen Titans
Teen Titans was different from other superhero shows in many ways, but the one that stood out the most was probably the fact that the show was not made with the usually popular characters in focus. Besides, it featured a character with no superpowers as the leader of a superhero show. As contradictory as it is, the show creator Glen Murakami explained his reasons for doing this.

It's been more than 10 years since the world was subjected to the last "Scary Movie" sequel, but as is the case with any famous horror movie villain, it's practically impossible to keep this series down forever. And now Paramount Pictures plans to breathe new life into this particular franchise. The studio will be teaming up with Miramax to resurrect the "Scary Movie" franchise with a brand new installment. Production begins this fall, and the film will be in theaters in 2025.
Variety reports that producer Neal H. Moritz, who is best known for producing the "Fast and Furious" movies for Universal, will be producing this new iteration. Moritz was not directly associated with any of the previous five "Scary Movie" films, but interestingly, he did produce a couple of horror flicks that were parodied in those early versions, including "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Urban Legend." Superhero Fatigue was a myth. Successful superhero properties like Wakanda Forever and Invincible are thriving. While only a few of the McU's experiments paid off and 2023 was a bad year for superheroes, the genre still has plenty of stories to tell. Star Wars struggled to innovate, turning to nostalgia and failing to engage new audiences, hinting at a future plagued by Star Wars Fatigue.
Shortly after superheroes dominated theatrical films after Iron Man introduced the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and kicked off the genre's renaissance in 2008, online critics coined the pejorative "Superhero Fatigue" to delegitimize comic book movies. Despite superheroes' massive box office success and undying cultural relevance, their detractors claimed audiences were sick of them year after year, and that the genre had to die to "save" their preconceived notion of cinema. After praying for superheroes' downfall for almost 20 years, these people's wishes seemingly came true in 2023.

These days it's strange to think of Marvel struggling to outdo DC at the box office. But believe it or not, there was a time when the latter was the undisputed champ of superhero filmmaking. Director Richard Donner kicked off that winning streak with 1978's "Superman," the film that provided the blueprint for the modern blockbuster. Next, Tim Burton solidified DC's box office prowess with 1989's "Batman" — a film that made a heck of a lot of money at the box office and established the principles of modern blockbuster marketing.
Meanwhile, Marvel had this comparatively abject filmography to offer: 1986's "Howard the Duck," 1989's "The Punisher," and the direct-to-video "Captain America" in 1990. By the time DC and Warner Bros.' "Batman Forever" hit in 1995 and made $336 million globally (an impressive number for the time) it seemed DC would rule the superhero blockbuster space for a long time to come.

Fun trivia: one of the working titles for Wes Craven's 1996 slasher satire "Scream" was "Scary Movie." Filmmaker Keenan Ivory Wayans got wind of this trivia, and decided in 2000 to make a film called "Scary Movie" intended to satirize the popularity of "Scream." The late 1990s were a curious time in popular culture, as there weren't too many dominant horror trends. Popular music was beginning to comment on its own self-awareness (see: "Flagpole Sitta") and irony became ironic. Self-reflection went from a healthy Socratic exercise into a loop of eternal recurrence. By 2000, we became so busy commenting on our own commentaries, that it was hard to see where we started. This is where "Scary Movie" dropped in.
Make no mistake, "Scary Movie" is unfunny, as are its many sequels. They're cheap, homophobic, and vulgar. Wayans took his model from spoof filmmakers like Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker, but aimed to make something...

The holiday movie season this year is packed with many options, much like other years have displayed. However, despite the bevy of titles, including Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, The Color Purple, Migration, Anyone But You and The Iron Claw, they weren’t enough to garner interest in audiences to flock to theaters around Christmastime. Without the year’s biggest double-feature event with Barbie and Oppenheimer, it could have been a worse showing for theaters as even the reliable blockbusters like the Mission: Impossible, Superhero, and Fast & Furious franchises would flop. It’s almost fitting that 2023 ends with a whimper.
