“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” opened in U.S. and Canadian theaters with a massive $120.5 million, more than tripling the debut of the 2018 animated original and showing the kind of movie-to-movie box-office growth that would be the envy of even the mightiest of Hollywood franchises.
Sony Pictures’ “Across the Spider-Verse,” the multi-verse spinning animated Spider-Man spinoff, sailed way past expectations, according to studio estimates Sunday, riding terrific reviews (95% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes) and strong buzz for the hotly anticipated follow-up to the Oscar-winning “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

James Norton also joins the cast as the operator behind a club and blackmailing ring who looks into various incidents related to the Touched. Joss Whedon is returning to television on HBO to tackle The Nevers, a show that puts a Victorian spin on sci-fi.
It appears that the post-Marvel malaise of one Joss Whedon has finally concluded. That’s because Whedon, Marvel Studios’ former embattled directorial fulcrum on the first two Avengers films, will return to television, the medium on which he became a legend. Moreover, Whedon’s new project, titled The Nevers, will have a most promising platform in HBO!
Indeed, Whedon, the legendary small screen maestro who turned a campy movie he wrote early in his career into the beloved Buffy the Vampire Slayer television franchise, has intriguing plans for his return to TV. The plot of the series is described as a science fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who gain “unusual abilities” and subsequently use their powers to fight “relentless enemies” and engage in missions with global implications.
