Best known to genre fans for playing iconic slasher Jason Voorhees in multiple Friday the 13th fan films, Jason Brooks has stepped behind the camera to direct the upcoming film The Death of Snow White, which is set to be released on the same March weekend that Disney will be releasing their live-action Snow White movie! Directed by Brooks from a screenplay he wrote with producer Naomi Mechem-Miller, The Death of Snow White has the following synopsis: Pursued by her stepmother for eternal beauty, Snow White flees into a terrifying forest and aligns with seven bloodthirsty dwarves – cold-blooded assassins with a knack for brutal killings. ‘General Hospital’ (Gh) spoilers reveal that Lucas Jones (Van Hasis) may sue Willow Tait Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) for custody of Wiley Corinthos (Viron Weaver) if Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is gone.
‘General Hospital’ Spoilers: Wiley Was Raised By Lucas And Brad For The First Year Of His Life
Chad Duell is set to leave the soap shortly after the New Year. He could exit the canvas in several ways, but what if he mysteriously disappears?
That would leave Wiley with his adoptive mother, Willow, but one person who may challenge that scenario is Lucas. For the first year of his life, Wiley was raised by Lucas and Brad Cooper (Perry Shen).
Years ago, Lucas and Brad had adopted Willow’s baby, but the baby was a victim of Sids and passed away in his sleep. After Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) gave birth to her baby, Nelle asked him to switch the babies.

A new international trailer for Snow White has found its way online today (via Toonado.com) and it includes even more never-before-seen footage from this live-action adaptation of the beloved animated classic.
The movie, which looked set to be a complete reimagining before fan backlash, appears to be very much in line with its 1937 predecessor. However, we see more of the title character's origin story (which has been expanded) and get some insights into how that connects to the Evil Queen. Prince Charming also briefly shows up.
Whether the "Bandits" who were once meant to replace the Seven Dwarfs still factor into the story is unclear, though we know extensive reshoots took place last year. Those were meant to, hopefully, avoid what was shaping up to be a complete rejection of Snow White by Disney fans.

Disney's princess movies have been a childhood staple to many over the years. Young viewers look up to their favorite heroines, who get to go on thrilling adventures, fall in love, fight for what they believe in and live happily ever after. What some viewers don't realize until later in life is just how young the protagonists are when they experience these things. This has prompted fans to wonder just how old their favorite Disney princesses are.
While some Disney princesses' ages are directly confirmed in their respective movies, others are more difficult to pin down, having been revealed by different sources over the years. That said, there's certainly a pattern, with almost all of these young women being teenagers in their debut films. From Snow White to Elsa, here's what audiences know about each Disney princess's age.

Snow White has always been a tale wrapped in magic, wonder, and a sprinkle of timeless innocence. But in 2025, it seems the beloved princess is stepping out of her fairytale world and into the harsh spotlight of modern controversy. Disney’s live-action remake is supposed to reignite nostalgia, but instead, it’s caught in a whirlwind of mixed reactions and unexpected backlashes. The problem?

A hauntingly bad new trailer for the studio’s next live-action remake promises a nightmarish procession of CGI dwarves
Here are two things that recently happened in very quick succession: my oldest son opened his laptop and said: “Daddy! There’s a new Snow White trailer!” And then, less than two minutes after that, he shrieked: “Daddy! These dwarves are Terrifying!”
Reader, it brings me no happiness to inform you that Disney has done it again. Several decades after shaping the animation industry as we know it with exquisite, characterful, cutting-edge feature-length fairytales that are still rightly regarded as classics, it has decided to squeeze out a hot fat turd. As the years of counselling my son now requires will tell you, there is a trailer for Disney’s new live-action Snow White movie. And it is beyond horrible.

Disney has handled the release of Snow White's trailer in an undeniably bizarre manner. The studio ignored the low-res versions which did the rounds after the sneek peek started playing in theaters a couple of weeks ago and failed to react to the fully HD version that followed.
The official version has finally been released today, though, and it's accompanied by a colourful, eye-catching new poster for the live-action remake.
As you might expect, the spotlight is put squarely on Rachel Zegler's Snow White and Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot as the villainous Evil Queen.
Reshoots are thought to have brought this version of the classic fairy tale more in line with the 1937 animated movie. Early plans supposedly called for the Seven Dwarfs to be excluded following scathing comments from Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage. Well, they're in there now and the CGI used to bring them to life is certainly.

Disney has revealed a new trailer for its upcoming live-action remake of Snow White starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, which arrives in theaters on March 21st, 2025.
The trailer signals Snow White to be a faithful adaptation of the 1937 animated film, itself an adaptation of the 1812 Brothers Grimm fairytale. Zegler stars as Snow White, a princess living with her evil stepmother The Queen (Gal Gadot) who rules the kingdom with an iron fist. Once Snow White is urged to flee into the woods by the Huntsman (Ansu Kabia), she ends up in a cottage surrounded by doting animals and seven (CGI) dwarves. Now armed with the help of her friends, Snow White attempts to restore light back into the kingdom. Watch the trailer below.
Disney originally unveiled the first trailer for Snow White at their D23 event in August, and has been teasing the new reimagining for multiple years now.

Whether you think Disney is being too woke or not woke enough, there’s been no shortage of people more bizarrely upset about a live-action remake of a Disney classic than there has been for “Snow White,” even though they had never seen a frame of it.
Now we have the full trailer of the remake of Disney’s 1937 animated masterpiece, with the Latina Rachel Zegler and Israeli Gal Gadot as the evil queen.
The initial footage should be familiar to anyone who has seen “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” complete with a rendition of “Hi-Ho,” with Snow White laughing and singing along with the seven CGI dwarves Grumpy, Sneezy, Dopey, Sleepy, Happy, Bashful, and Doc.
Disney had to push back “Snow White” because of the writers and actors strikes last year, with the movie now slated to open March 21, 2025. Though it probably didn’t hurt that it bought...

George R.R. Martin ended 2023 with a big announcement. Not about his books — the new ones, anyway — but the author of “A Song of Ice and Fire” offered an update on the various projects in progress that will adapt his works, including animated series.
Martin posted to his blog on December 31, echoing popular sentiments about Peak TV and heaping praise on Netflix’s “Blue Eye Samurai,” a show that recently won him over. He noted that he has discussed multiple animated projects from the “A Song of Ice and Fire” and “Game of Thrones” universe in previous and ongoing conversations with HBO, including two which were shelved (he strongly preferes “shelved” to “killed”).
He then announced that “Nine Voyages,” a “House of the Dragon” tie-in about the adventures of Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint), had moved from live-action to animation, a move Martin says he wholeheartedly supports.
“Budgetary constraints would likely have...

Good Omens broke records on Kickstarter in 2023, with a new adaptation raising over $3 million from almost 37,000 backers. Other pop culture franchises, such as The Expanse, Power Rangers, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles also found success on Kickstarter in 2023. Crowdfunding is increasingly popular, and no longer the province of indie projects.
As weird as it may seem for a novel written in 1990 to be breaking records three decades later, Good Omens managed it in 2023, thanks to a wildly successful Kickstarter. Following Amazon's TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's book - starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen - Good Omens has more fans than ever, as shown by the huge success of the book's latest adaptation, which was crowd-funded via Kickstarter.
Running from August 1 to August 31, the campaign was organized by the Terry Pratchett Estate to support a new graphic novel adaptation from Colleen Doran Originally asking just $31,843, the...

Plutarch Heavensbee's morality is complex, as he switched sides between President Snow and President Coin. His loyalties were unclear to Katniss throughout. Plutarch, as a Gamemaker, was desensitized to suffering and manipulative of the tributes for his own gain. He lacked empathy due to his Capitol upbringing. Plutarch's ambition was his greatest motivator. He joined the rebellion and gained power under President Coin, but his loyalty was to power itself, not to any specific leader.
Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) spent time on both the side of good and evil in The Hunger Games, but his true morality was a little more complicated than that. He was first introduced to audiences as the new Head Gamemaker in Catching Fire and was thought to be thoroughly on President Snow's (Donald Sutherlan) side. Then, it was revealed that he was a rebel in support of District 13's President Coin (Julianne Moore). From there,...

The story of the 1972 Andes plane crash and its survivors has inspired many books and movies, even the TV series Yellowjackets. With Society of the Snow, J.A. Bayona adapts Pablo Vierci’s book of the same name to make something that’s close to the reality of the experiences endured by those aboard Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571. The aircraft was carrying 45 passengers and crew, including 19 members of the Old Christians Club rugby team, when it crashed in the Andes. Of those, only 16 would survive across an ordeal that lasted two months.
The crash itself is harrowingly portrayed at the start of the film, and with a minimum of buildup. The plane’s tail and wings are torn away on impact while the fuselage sails down the snowy mountainside like a sled. We catch flashes of the passengers’ limbs twisting and breaking, of metal shooting into flesh. The story moves quickly from there,...

Society of the Snow, directed by Spanish filmmaker J.A. Bayona and Spain’s submission into the 2024 Oscar race, is based on the true story of the 1972 Andes flight disaster in which a flight carrying Uruguay’s Old Christians Club rugby team for a match in Santiago, Chile, crashed on a glacier at the Valle de las Lágrimas (Valley of Tears).
Of the 45 people aboard Flight 571 only 16 survived, including Roberto Canessa, who joined producer Belén Atienza and Bayona to discuss the film for Deadline’s Contenders Film: International.
The Netflix movie is adapted from Pablo Vierci’s 2008 book La Sociedad de La Nieve [Society of the Snow: The Definitive Account of the World’s Greatest Survival Story], which gives it distance from previous books and films about the story.
“You can that tell in this new take you have the gravitas, the weight of the time that has passed,” said Bayona. “It’s a much more spiritual book which was a challenge; what made the...

Shortly after Halle Bailey and Rachel Zegler were crowned real-life Disney princesses, they met for the first time at a ball — the 2021 Met Gala, to be exact. It was the beginning not only of a beautiful friendship, but of a new era for Disney. Bailey became the first Black Ariel in Rob Marshall’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid,” based on Disney’s beloved 1989 animated film. Zegler — who used to dress up as Snow White as a little girl — will embody a Latina fairy-tale heroine who befriends seven CGI-created dwarves in 2025’s “Snow White.”
The singer-actors are also showcasing their golden voices in literary adaptations: Bailey, as young Nettie in “The Color Purple”; Zegler, as Lucy Gray Baird in the “Hunger Games” prequel “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.” Here, Bailey, 23, and Zegler, 22, reflect on their princess experiences and strategies for silencing the social media haters.

Society of the Snow is based on the true story of a group of rugby players who survived a plane crash in the Andes mountains in 1972. The film has received positive reviews and has been nominated for multiple awards. The movie is scored by Michael Giacchino and was directed by J.A. Bayona, known for his emotional storytelling.

Based on the book, Society of the Snow, by Pablo Vierci, the upcoming Netflix film will tell the true story of a group of rugby players whose flight crashed into the Andes mountains in 1972. They had to battle freezing temperatures, injuries, avalanches, and a lack of food and water before the remaining survivors were rescued 72 days later.

Spanish director Estibaliz Urresola Solaguren’s debut feature, 20,000 Species of Bees, a touching and tender drama about an 8-year-old transgender child who begins to transition, is the front-runner for the 2024 Goya Awards, the Spanish film academy’s equivalent to the Oscars.
The film, which won its young star Sofía Otero the Silver Bear for best performance in Berlin in February, picked up 15 nominations for the 2024 Goyas, including for best film and best director. Otero was oddly snubbed in the acting categories, though co-stars Ane Gabarain and Itziar Lazkano were nominated in the best supporting actress category, Martxelo Rubio received a best supporting actor nom, and Patricia López Arnaiz a Goya nomination for best actress.
In its review of the film, The Hollywood Reporter called 20,000 Species of Bees a “moving chronicle of an 8-year-old’s gradual transitioning, and the effect it has on a family over their summer vacation...

Per Deadline, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes reached the $100 million milestone at the domestic box office on its 11th day of release. Lucy Gray Baird, co-lead of "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes," is a folk singer in the impoverished District 12 of fascist dystopia Panem. Chosen to fight in the titular death match, she wins over the Capitol of Panem with her voice, guitar, and songwriting. It's clear this is one reason why accomplished singer Rachel Zegler was chosen for the part; before Zegler was a movie star, she was belting out "Shallow" from "A Star Is Born" to her adoring YouTube subscribers.
Now, she sings Lucy's songs on the silver screen. The highlight of her discography is the lively and defiant shindig song "Nothing You Can Take From Me."
Music has been important in "The Hunger Games" even before this prequel. In particular, the song "The Hanging Tree" from the original two-part trilogy finale "Mockingjay.

The Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival drifted to a conclusion in midweek, with project awards presented on Wednesday, followed by Thursday’s festival closing events. These involved a screening of portmanteau film “Tales of Taipei” followed by a sit-down dinner-cum-ceremony with a breezy pair of speeches and no prizes.
The film fortnight then sprang to life again on Saturday evening when the 60th edition of the Golden Horse Film Awards represented a new climax. The winners were announced at a ceremony at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall.
For decades the Golden Horse awards had been the most prestigious prize ceremony in the Chinese-language firmament. That high profile has been harder to maintain over the last couple of years, given that the mainland Chinese industry is under government instruction to boycott the event, following a pro-independence speech given by an award winner at the 2018 ceremony.
Parts of the Hong Kong industry have stayed away too.

After six months of strike-related stoppages, global production is set to resume in a massive way, as producers, execs and day-to-day facilitators anticipate an early 2024 surge in production that could very well last throughout the calendar year. Only (and tellingly) — despite such evident and abundant relief — all of those facilitators are also quite measured in their optimism.
“I keep telling [my members] not to expect that same post-covid insanity,” says Location Managers Guild International president John Rakich. “I don’t think we’re going to see that insane [post-lockdown stretch] of two years straight of just back to back work. The Jon Snow spinoff is unique because it is not based on any existing material from George R. R. Martin, making it an entirely new story. HBO has yet to green light the Jon Snow sequel, and this helps to explain why it's taking so long. It's for the best that HBO is patient with the Jon Snow spinoff, as it'll only happen if there's a really great story to tell.
Game of Thrones has several spinoffs in the works, but the Jon Snow sequel is unique in a risky way that explains why HBO is taking so long with it. The cable outfit was discussing ways to continue exploring Westeros even before Game of Thrones' ending, with the first, House of the Dragon, finally releasing in 2022. The prequel was a clear success, and House of the Dragon season 2 is coming in 2024, with more on the way.

Snow White star Rachel Zegler explains how her character will be a leader in the new live-action movie, harnessing her inner strength throughout the film. Zegler and director Marc Webb discuss how Snow White's arc is like her "third eye opening," with scenes where she speaks like someone wise beyond her years. The character's leadership qualities are born out of her upbringing and the love shown to her by other characters, making it a meaningful and relatable aspect of the story.

The story of Wyatt Earp has been told many times over the years, from history books teaching us about the O.K. Corral to television shows and all the way to the big screen and back. Perhaps no telling of his life, however, is as accurate or as well-made as Tombstone. The film, debuting December 25th, 1993, had an incredible cast that would be almost impossible to assemble in today's films, and it carried a swagger — so much so that it is still directly referenced and quoted to this day, mainly Doc Holiday's famous quote, "I'm Your Huckleberry."
In addition to the incredible cast, the history, from those involved in the story is fairly accurate to what Earp went through in his travels. All of this, the performances from the cast, and the real history behind the story — it all culminated in a near-perfect translation that not only holds up...

Those big teases at the BBC have spent months drip-feeding us tiny morsels of juicy Doctor Who news, from confirming series 14 guest stars one by one to (finally!) giving us the 60th anniversary special air dates (and even deleting a reference to a “spring 2024” series 14 release date), so it was quite a shock to see that Disney seems to have casually leaked the Doctor Who Christmas special episode title and air date in a random social media post today.
All we really knew so far was it was to be Ncuti Gatwa’s first full episode as the Fifteenth Doctor, would feature the debut of his new companion Ruby Sunday (Coronation Street’s Millie Gibson) and that it was airing “over the festive period in 2023”.

Disney's decision to delay the release of the live-action Snow White movie could benefit the film by allowing the company to reassess its approach after the underwhelming performance of The Little Mermaid. The additional time from the delay will give Disney an opportunity to recoup its losses from The Little Mermaid and carefully plan to ensure that Snow White succeeds both critically and financially. The success of Snow White is crucial for Disney's future in creating live-action remakes, and if the movie fails at the box office, it could potentially derail any future plans for similar projects.

Bastards in Game of Thrones were given different surnames based on the region they were born in, such as Snow in the North and Sand in Dorne. Bastards faced discrimination and lacked inheritance rights throughout the Seven Kingdoms, leading many to join the Night's Watch for a sense of purpose. House of the Dragon, the prequel series to Game of Thrones, will explore the consequences of being a bastard and the division it can cause within noble families like the Targaryens.
Bastards born in the North carried the surname of "Snow" in Game of Thrones, and the reason for the Got bastard names stems from a system put in place throughout Westeros. Kit Harington's character, Jon Snow, was the most prominent person from the HBO series to hold that last name and though Jon was later revealed to be a Targaryen, he was originally thought to be the illegitimate...

Disney's delays of two major movies in 2024 raise questions about the future of Pixar films and Disney's live-action remakes, hinting at potential behind-the-scenes issues. The delays could be attributed to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA labor strike and the need for the studio to rectify mistakes and make necessary changes before releasing the films. These delays have implications for Pixar's release schedule, leaving only one Pixar movie for 2024 and hinting at potential changes in storytelling and marketing strategies for future projects.
Disney's recent announcements surrounding the delays of two 2024 movies raise an intriguing question: What do these delays mean for the future of Pixar movies and Disney's live-action remakes? 2023 may not have been a lucrative year for Disney's live-action remakes and Pixar films, but 2024 was supposed to rectify the damage caused by a few 2023 box office hiccups. Unfortunately, 2024 will not be as big a year for the studio as it initially seemed.

Disney's live-action Snow White is facing controversy over its portrayal of the dwarf characters, originally replacing them with "magical creatures" but receiving criticism for lack of representation of actors with dwarfism. The new image reveals that the dwarves in Snow White are now CGI characters, which further diminishes the opportunity for casting actors with dwarfism. Disney seems to be responding to audience feedback and attempting to address the controversy, but the movie's delay suggests that it still has time to make changes and reinvent itself.

The effects of the SAG-AFTRA strike are starting to be felt Hollywood-wide and the dominoes are falling rapidly as Disney becomes the latest company to majorly alter their plans as a result of the halt in production. The latest big name to feel the weight of it is the company's live-action Snow White adaptation, starring Rachel Zegler, which has been pushed back by a full year from March 22, 2024 to March 21, 2025. The movie was anticipated to be one of the company's biggest of the year, as one of the most famous films in the House of Mouse's illustrious century of operations, the very first full-length animated feature film. The movie also stars Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen, with the Israeli star expressing her joy at being allowed to recreate the iconic and original villain of the Disney carousel of fairytales.
