The Running Man: Glen Powell Will ‘Fully Unleash’ As An Action Star In Edgar Wright’s Thriller
Image
Glen Powell is no stranger to action. He was, after all, a standout in Top Gun: Maverick, where he learned the secrets of high-flying setpieces under the wing of Tom Cruise. And he was a pure adrenaline junkie in Twisters as ‘tornado wrangler’ Tyler Owens, putting pedal to metal as he chased wild weather events for kicks. But The Running Man is different. In Edgar Wright’s fresh adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Powell’s Ben Richards will be… well, running, and fighting, and leaping into action, evading bullets, dodging killers, and scrambling for his life as he battles to win a deadly gameshow in exchange for the cash...

HBO's New Harry Potter and Hagrid Head to The Leaky Cauldron in Stunning Set Images
Image
HBO’s Harry Potter reboot continues to transform London into the wizarding world. Fans in Borough High Street near London Bridge witnessed filming for the Leaky Cauldron sequence, where Nick Frost’s Hagrid escorts young Dominic McLaughlin’s Harry Potter into the magical realm for the first time. The shoot briefly brought traffic to a standstill — but it also gave us our clearest look yet at this new era of Hogwarts.

McLaughlin, just 11 years old, looked every bit the Boy Who Lived with his round glasses, wide-leg jeans, and a colorful rain jacket, his rucksack slung across his shoulders, looking even tinier than he is, thanks to the costumers ensuring...

Edgar Wright’s Critically Acclaimed ‘Drive’ Replacement Just Hit the Gas on Global Streaming Charts
Image
Edgar Wright’s high-octane heist thrillerBaby Driver is steadily climbing global streaming charts eight years after its 2017 release. The film is currently streaming on HBO Max, where it has broken into the Top 10 in multiple Latin American countries. The resurgence, however, is not confined to HBO; the film has also cracked the Top 10 on Amazon Prime in the UKand made a brief iTunes appearance at #1 this week.

When the movie first hit theaters, it was met with widespread critical acclaim and was praised for its razor-sharp editing, music-driven action sequences, and the charismatic performances by the ensemble cast. It holds a strong 92% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences awarded it an equally impressive 86% score alongside a solid 7.5 rating on IMDb. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s Next Collaboration May Not Be a Comedy
Image
Just because they’ve completed a trilogy of vaguely ice cream-themed movies doesn’t mean that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright aren’t planning to work together again some time soon.

Following the critical and commercial success of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End, the two friends seem to be frequently asked about when they’ll team up to write another movie for Pegg to star in and Wright to direct.

Last year they told NME that they’d very much like to do something soon, but have just been too busy shooting Mission: Impossible sequels and remakes of ‘80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movies to find the time to get together and hammer out a screenplay.

During a recent appearance at Fan Expo Boston, Pegg confirmed that the pair are finally planning to “carve out some time to write something new.” Per Collider, they’re also hoping...

Simon Pegg To Reunite With Edgar Wright, But Not for a Cornetto Trilogy Follow-Up
Image
Simon Pegg, the star of franchises like Mission: Impossible and Star Trek, had his Hollywood breakout when he co-wrote and starred in the 2004 horror comedy directed by Edgar Wright, Shaun of the Dead. However, this wasn't their first collaboration. They had joined forces before for the TV comedy Spaced, which also featured Nick Frost, another frequent collaborator of the duo's creative space. Shaun of the Dead was followed by Hot Fuzz and The World's End, effectively ending what would become known as the Cornetto trilogy. But as important as these were for their respective careers, they haven't collaborated since. That is, until now. Pegg has announced that he will reunite with Wright in order to "write something new."

First, Wright must release his next project, The Running Man. Pegg, on the other hand, must solve the situation of his current production, Angels in the Asylum, which was halted due to lack of funding.

Simon Pegg Confirms Edgar Wright's Next Movie After 'The Running Man' Reboot [Exclusive]
Image
Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright are officially reuniting for a new project, and it could be unlike anything they’ve done before. Speaking to Collider’s Steve Weintraubduring his highlight panel at Fan Expo Boston, Pegg revealed that Wright is currently in post-production on The Running Man, his upcoming adaptation of the Stephen King novel. Once Wright wraps on the film fully in November, when The Running Man is set to premiere, the longtime collaborators plan to “carve out some time to write something new.”

While fans might be expecting another entry in the duo’s beloved Cornetto Trilogy, Pegg hinted that the new project could break from their usual comedic formula entirely, even if it risks disappointing “the fuck out of everybody.” One thing is for certain: if the iconic trio that also consists of Nick Frost is to be completed, they’ll first need to “get Nick out of his fucking Hagrid costume,...

15 Years Ago, One Of The Most Unique Comic Book Movies Ever Was A Major Box Office Bummer
Image
(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)

"Taking the sensibility of Edgar Wright, before I even knew what he wanted to do with it, and applying it to that material, I knew in an instant that this could be quite a combustible combination." Those are the words of producer Marc Platt speaking on a making-of documentary attached to the "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" Blu-ray release. Naturally, the material he's talking about was the "Scott Pilgrim" comics by Bryan Lee O'Malley.

Wright was coming off of the success of his now-classic horror/comedy "Shaun of the Dead" and its follow-up, the brilliant cop comedy "Hot Fuzz." Both movies were decent hits that put Wright on Hollywood's radar in a big way. When Universal Pictures was looking to put together...

Who Is New Star Wars Villain Matt Smith?
Matt Smith
You may have heard that actor Matt Smith has recently been cast as a villain in Star Wars: Starfighter, starring opposite Ryan Gosling and Mia Goth. Starfighter will be released on May 28, 2027. This marks the second theatrical release after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, following director Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is planned for May 22, 2026.

Smith is no stranger to playing the villain, and with a multitude of alien races in the Star Wars universe, it’s hard to know how he'll show up as he faces off against Gosling. So, who is Matt Smith? Here are some of the actor's most well-known roles, pulled from his IMDb page.

Doctor Who

In the long-running BBC science fiction series, a relatively unknown Smith landed the coveted title role as the Eleventh Doctor after David Tennant's exit from the show in 2010. His primary run as Doctor Who spanned Seasons 5, 6, and 7.

The Crown

In 2018, Smith earned his first Emmy nomination for his portrayal of Prince Philip in the Netflix series "The Crown."

House of the Dragon

Smith is most recently known for embodying the ruthless Prince Daemon Targaryen on HBO’s "Game of Thrones" spin-off "House of the Dragon." He is slated to return for Season 3 of the series, which is currently in production.

Last Night in Soho

Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) cast Smith in his psychological horror film Last Night in Soho, also starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Thomasin McKenzie.

Morbius

As part of Sony's extended Spider-Man universe, Smith took another villain role in 2022's Morbius, playing opposite Jared Leto.

15 Best Movies Like Now You See Me
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

If we're to believe a certain delightfully deceptive Christopher Nolan film, the third act of any magic show is always the most shocking -- which should have us all excited for the imminent release of Lionsgate's "Now You See Me: Now You Don't." The third entry in the high-grossing "Now You See Me" series (which began in 2013 and continued with a sequel in 2016), the 2025 film is set to return viewers to this arrestingly glamorous world of vigilante illusionists.

For the uninitiated, the series follows the escapades of the Four Horsemen, a group of stage magicians who once managed to "magically" transport millions of stolen dollars from a secure bank vault in Paris to their audience in Las Vegas. They then began using their unique skills of misdirection, deception, manipulation, and stagecraft to execute elaborate heists against the wealthy for the benefit of common people.

10 Years Later, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man Remains Marvel's Greatest Missed Opportunity
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been going strong for close to two decades now. It all dates back to 2008's "Iron Man." Directed by Jon Favreau, nobody could have expected Robert Downey Jr.'s turn as Tony Stark to build an empire that has led to well over $30 billion at the global box office, with Marvel Studios rapidly approaching its 40th feature film.

Though it may not get much credit, there was a moment in the summer of 2015 when it was clear that the MCU had hit a certain fever pitch with general moviegoers. That moment came when director Peyton Reed's "Ant-Man" hit theaters. By far one of the biggest swings Marvel took in terms of giving a character the spotlight who didn't have a guaranteed audience by any means, it became a sizable hit, taking in $519 million worldwide against a reasonable $130 million budget.

It helped catapult the already...

Almost Cops Movie Review & Ending Explained: Are Kevin’s killers punished?
Image
Gonzalo Fernandez Carmona’s “Almost Cops” has silliness in spades, but it’s not the kind that makes for essential viewing. The amiability and untroubled façade don’t ever pop off the screen as much as the makers might have thought they’d work. It spins around two characters, throws in ample complications and gags, but none register freshly. There’s a heavily borrowed syntax that never breaks out into something staggeringly individualistic and profoundly vital. It remains a perfect example of ambient viewing, saddled with stock-thin characters and petty grievances.

Each has an axe to grind, but all of it comes off as tacky, incredibly cutesy to the point of being pure fluff. Silly writing needs some conviction and heart. The film reaches for it mostly unsuccessfully. The story lacks the edge required to make all the parts sing in tension and provoke a real thrust. Instead, it moves...

‘The Running Man’ Trailer Teases Glen Powell’s Deadliest Game
Image
Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer, teaser poster and film stills for Edgar Wright’s long-gestating update of The Running Man, setting social media alight ahead of its 7 November 2025 release in Dolby Cinema, 4Dx, ScreenX, Premium Large Formats and IMAX.

The original 1987 blockbuster, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as desperate everyman Ben Richards, transformed Stephen King’s dystopian novella into an all-out satirical bloodsport, and Wright’s version promises to honour that spirit while injecting his trademark kinetic humour and visual flair.

This time, Hollywood’s rising star Glen Powell steps into the role of Richards, a factory worker driven to enter a lethal televised game show when his young daughter’s medical bills spiral out of control. Josh Brolin reprises the role of the charmingly ruthless producer Dan Killian, the architect of a nationwide spectacle in which “Runners” must evade professional assassins for thirty days in order to claim a life-changing cash prize.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3 gets a teaser trailer and release date
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
The Walking Dead spin-off The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon (you can read our review of the first season Here) has just revealed that the much-anticipated third season premieres Sunday, September 7th on AMC and AMC+.

The previous two seasons followed Daryl as he washed up, mysteriously, on the shores of France. He was eventually joined by his regular Walking Dead co-star Melissa McBride, who returned as fan favourite Carol. Season three takes our two heroes to Spain as they continue to fight the dead throughout Europe.

Recently, Reedus appeared in Len Wiseman’s John Wick spinoff, Ballerina. Check out this interview clip where he compared the polished action he had to try in that movie to his more rough-and-tumble antics on The Walking Dead.

In addition to Reedus, McBride, and Charrier, the show’s cast includes Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Romain Levi, Eriq Ebouaney, and Manish Dayal.

Dune’s Denis Villeneuve Among Top Directors in the Running for Next James Bond Movie
Image
Dune director Denis Villeneuve is reportedly in the running to helm Amazon's upcoming James Bond film. An industry insider recently shared the names of five directors vying for the project.

Matthew Belloni's Pucknewsletter recently revealed that Edward Berger, Denis Villeneuve, Edgar Wright, Jonathan Nolan and Paul King are all in the running for the next Bond movie. This February, it was revealed that the longtime producers of the James Bond franchise had lost control of it, with Amazon MGM Studios taking over. The project does not currently have a release date or any real information about its cast or plot, but shortly after the news broke, Amazon owner Jeff Bezos began asking fans about who the next James Bond actor should be.

For now, Belloni's short list of directors should be taken with a grain of salt, but the Hollywood insider has already been correct about other aspects of the Bond franchise.

How To Train Your Dragon: Why The New Gobber Actor Looks So Familiar
Image
You would be forgiven for feeling a sense of déjà vu after watching 2025's "How to Train Your Dragon." The live-action remake of the 2010 animated movie of the same name is soaring high at the box office by remaining extremely faithful to its source material. In his review, /Film's Ethan Anderton even called the film "loyal" to a fault, so much so it struggles to find ways of differentiating itself from the animated original that wormed its way into the hearts of a whole generation.

The "How to Train Your Dragon" remake brings back several key creative players from the 2010 animated film, with co-helmer Dean DeBlois returning to the director's chair to translate many of his own shots into live-action and composer John Powell revamping his score from the original movie. Of course, there's also the mighty Gerard Butler, who's back in tow here as the gruff-but-loving Viking Stoick the Vast.

Russell Crowe & Ryan Gosling's Underrated Action Comedy With 91% Rt Audience Score Gets Disappointing Sequel Update
Image
Critical acclaim failed to boost The Nice Guys' run at the box office, partly because it was released to unfortunate circumstances. Director Shane Black said that's just one of his hurdles in having the sequel film greenlit.

Director Shane Black said The Nice Guys 2 is still a long shot; it's hard to find a studio that's willing to bankroll the project. "That's the problem, is you're gonna present something that the actors have to agree to, that's a good script, and that is going to be very expensive," he explained in an interview (per /Film), "and the studio's going to say, 'Well, didn't the last one sort of bomb at the theaters?' And you say, 'Yeah, but we want you to spend twice as much on this one anyway to get everyone back.'"

The Nice Guys grossed $11.3 million on its opening weekend, exceeding projections, but it trailed behind...

The 15 Best Action Comedies Of All Time, Ranked
Image
When we think of the quintessential movie action hero, we might normally imagine a muscular hero offing the bad guy with a quip, then walking away from an explosion in slow motion. There's a healthy dose of over-the-top absurdity in many big studio action films, but a great action-comedy is a different beast: Equal parts action and consistent humor. The humor should never devalue the action either, which is why every movie we've collected here has real danger and stakes. All-out spoofs and animated features belong on different lists; the best action-comedies make you believe as well as laugh.

Sometimes, the humor comes from two unlikely partners forced to work together. The hero(es) might master astonishing physical feats that make their foes look like fools. Characters who appear serious in their world may make comedic points about ours. All have contributed to many great evenings of escapist thrills and yuks.

Harry Potter: Nick Frost’s ‘Educated’ Remark Is Better Than Tom Felton’s but in the End J.K. Rowling Still Wins
Image
The cauldron of chaos is brewing in the Wizarding World—new castings, a reboot series, and yep, even more J.K. Rowling drama. Turns out both new and old stars of Harry Potter have shared their opinions on Rowling’s anti-trans controversies. And even though both actors have had very different remarks, fans are still pissed at both of them.

New Hagrid actor Nick Frost said J.K. Rowling’s views don’t align with his “in any way, shape or form,” while Og star Tom Felton tiptoed around the controversy by praising the author for uniting the world through Harry Potter. Even though Frost’s educated remark seemed better than Felton’s response, critics still slammed Frost for helping her profit and fueling harmful rhetoric.

‘Deep Cover’ Review: Bryce Dallas Howard and Orlando Bloom Play Improv Actors Working an Undercover Police Sting in a Winningly Silly Comedy
Image
The premise of Deep Cover is almost funny enough to carry the entire film: A trio of improv actors is recruited by the London police to go undercover on a low-level sting operation, on the theory that they can think on their feet. Fortunately, this comedy is more than its plot thanks to the hilariously straight-faced performances of Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and Nick Mohammed as the hapless actors who wind up embedded with dangerous London gangsters. The film approaches its action tropes with an effective sense of absurdity, but it’s the stars’ kinetic commitment to the bit that makes this relentlessly silly film work.

Howard brings energy and conviction to her role as Kat, an American in London whose visa has almost run out, along with her luck as an actor. Now she teaches improv classes to play the bills, and faces the pitying looks of her old friends.

‘Deep Cover’ Prime Video Review: Orlando Bloom Shines In This Lukewarm Crime Comedy Film
Image
Movies about characters who believe in the philosophy that you can fake it till you make it are a dime a dozen. For example, there’s Joel Coen’s The Hudsucker Proxy, which is about a low-level clerk who becomes the CEO of a manufacturing company because its board of directors wants to tank its stocks, but he ends up making the establishment a huge success. Chandra Barot’s Don has a street musician named Vijay who is hired by Dsp D’Silva, because he looks exactly like the titular gangster, to infiltrate Don’s gang. But when D’Silva dies, Vijay has to find a way to prove he isn’t the real deal. Richard Linklater’s Hit Man has a professor of psychology pretending to be a hitman to weed out people who want to kill off someone, but he eventually gets too involved with a “client,” thereby prompting...

‘Harry Potter’ Star Nick Frost Disagrees With J.K. Rowling’s Trans Views, Disabled Instagram Comments Amid Backlash to Working With Her: We ‘Don’t Align in Any Way’
Image
“Harry Potter’s” new Hagrid, Nick Frost, is making it clear that he doesn’t agree with J.K. Rowling’s views on trans rights.

In a new interview with The Observer, the “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz” star was asked about the backlash he received from trans rights activists after signing on to play the lovable half-giant in HBO’s upcoming “Harry Potter” series. Rowling, who has courted controversy in recent years by sharing takes on social media that are widely considered anti-trans, is an executive producer on the new series and was “very involved in the process” of selecting its creative team, according to HBO chief Casey Bloys.

Frost revealed in the interview that he had to disable comments on his Instagram post about his casting due to the amount of backlash. However, he said of the author: “She’s allowed her opinion and I’m allowed mine,...

The Real Reason Why ‘Shaun of the Dead’ Highlighted Cornetto Ice Cream
Image
Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg’s Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End all focus on unique characters in distinctly different scenarios. Nevertheless, the three films are widely considered to be a trilogy. Why? Because of ice cream, that’s why.

Famously, each installment of the “Cornetto Trilogy” includes a brief shout-out to the popular U.K. dessert. In a recent interview with Wired, Pegg outlined exactly how a frozen dairy product came to define their trilogy, inspired by one of the “web’s most searched questions” about the star.

“The Cornetto, for those of you in the United States of America, who don’t know what a Cornetto is — and I pity you — is an ice cream confection from the U.K. which is basically a sort of an ice cream cone, with a topper,” Pegg explained. “They come in (a) ‘regular’ flavor, which is chocolate and nut,...

Harry Potter newcomer Nick Frost on the pressure of playing Hagrid
Image
Nick Frost is very much aware that the cast members of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series are standing on the shoulders of giants. For him, he's quite literally standing on the shoulders of a giant, having been cast as Hagrid, the groudskeeper at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The character was previously played by the late, great Robbie Coltrane in the Harry Potter movies.

The cast of HBO's Harry Potter series is starting to grow. Last month, HBO finally revealed who would play the Golden Trio. After upwards of 30,000 kids auditioned, the series landed on Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Other key cast members include John Lithgow (Conclave) as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You) as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer (The Menu) as Minerva McGonagall, and Luke Thallon (Present Laughter) is Quirinus Quirrell.

As for Nick Frost,...

Harry Potter HBO TV Series Star Makes A Big Promise About His Hagrid Performance
Image
In March 2025, HBO announced that Nick Frost -- an actor best known for his roles in movies like "Hot Fuzz" and "Shaun of the Dead" -- will be playing Rubeus Hagrid in the upcoming TV series adaptation of the "Harry Potter" books. The announcement garnered mostly positive responses from fans, as he certainly looks the part and has more than enough acting chops to pull it off.

In an interview with Collider, Frost gave his thoughts on the role. Particularly, he offered some insight into how he'll handle a character that was already portrayed perfectly by the late Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid in all eight "Harry Potter" movies.

"While I'm really aware of what went before me in terms of Robbie's amazing performance, I'm never going to try and be Robbie," Frost explained. "I'm going to try and do something, not 'different,' I think you have to be respectful to the subject matter,...

New 'Harry Potter' Star Nick Frost Wants Hagrid To Be Different From the Original
Image
The casting for HBO's Harry Potter reboot series has been incredibly divisive so far. Some have turned against actors like Paapa Essiedu (who will play Snape) and even child actress Arabella Stanton (Hermione Granger) for senseless and bigoted reasons. Other fans have slightly more justified and logical criticisms of the casting choices so far. But, one actor who every fan agrees is a perfect fit for their role is Hot Fuzz and Paul star, Nick Frost. The actor will portray Rubeus Hagrid, the gamekeeper and groundskeeper of Hogwarts School. It's ironic that this is the casting choice fans have positively latched onto, considering how beloved Robbie Coltrane's performance in the original movies was. But, Frost said he wants his version of Hagrid to differ from the immensely popular original.

Nick Frost recently spoke to Collider to promote the live-action remake of How to Train Your Dragon. During the conversation,...

12 Best Unofficial Movie Trilogies Of All Time, Ranked
Image
Most movie trilogies have two things in common: 1.) there are three movies (duh) and 2.) they are official (huh?). By "official," I mean the films are recognized to follow the adventures (or misadventures) of the same character(s). Sometimes their adventures are different stories ("The Godfather" trilogy); other times it's the same story broken up into three chapters ("The Lord of The Rings"). But while the greatest film trilogy of all time is perhaps the most oft-debated topic in online movie discourse, we don't talk nearly enough about the best unofficial movie trilogies. What do I mean by "unofficial?"

If "official" trilogies follow the same character(s) over three parts, then "unofficial" trilogies don't. So what makes it a "trilogy?" It's a filmmaker exploring the same themes, settings, character types, and/or source material across three similar, but completely different, films. In fact, unofficial trilogies are usually not even defined as trilogies by the filmmaker themselves,...

Netflix drops first trailer for The Thursday Murder Club
Image
There are some casts that you would want to watch even if they were being themselves, and sitting around a dinner table talking about whatever. That's the case with the Ocean's 11 crew with George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and all the others. They are entertaining in themselves.

The same can be said of the cast of Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club. A bunch of actors you know from a bunch of things perform their roles as an older group of Brits who go about solving murders for fun. It's a bit like Only Murders in the Building, but...wait. No, it's a lot like that Hulu series.

This is especially true as the plot of Ttmc turns when the three Brits and one Irish lad, played by Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan (he's Irish), Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie, find that a murder has occurred extremely close to them.

Everything We Know About HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Series
Image
Thirteen years after “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2” released in theaters and brought an end to Harry’s journey on the big screen, the Harry Potter universe is gearing up for a return in the form of episodic television.

Led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod of “Succession,” HBO’s take on the beloved book-turned-movie-franchise aims to bring the magical world back to life as Harry Potter discovers he’s a wizard and leaves his muggle family behind to attend Hogwarts, a school of magic. Along the way, he befriends Ron and Hermione and becomes a significant part of a plot against Lord Voldemort, or as most call him, “He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.”

The show comes nearly 30 years after J.K. Rowling published “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” which was adapted into a film directed by Chris Columbus in 2001. In total, the original “Harry Potter” film series has...

‘Dept. Q’ Netflix Review: A Overly Convoluted Crime Thriller Buoyed By Great Performances
Image
The origins of detective fiction can be dated back to as early as the 8th century in the Arabian Nights. Edgar Allan Poe’s C. Auguste Dupin is widely considered to be one of the first fictional detectives, at least in English literature. In France, it was Emile Gaboriau’s Monsieur Lecoq. And then along came Arthur Conan Doyle, inspired by both Poe and Gaboriau, with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson, and the rest, as they say, is history. While it’s true that several literary geniuses and screenwriters have tried to do their own take on the Holmes-Watson dynamic, to varying degrees of success, nothing has quite surpassed the worldwide appeal of Doyle’s work. And one of the major reasons why I think that’s the case is because modern detective fiction is convoluted for the sake of being convoluted, with no satisfying payoff at the end of the ordeal.

Simon Pegg Regrets Roasting Jar Jar Binks
Image
Long before he was battling evil god-like computer programs with the star of Risky Business, Simon Pegg starred alongside Jessica Hynes in the British sitcom Spaced. The show was so beloved, over a thousand fans agreed to act like zombies in Shaun of the Dead for absolutely no pay.

One of the most memorable aspects of Spaced was Pegg’s character Tim’s love of Star Wars. But in the second season, his disappointment in the relatively recently-released Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace took him to some dark places, such as burning all of his Star Wars merch on a funeral pyre.

And verbally abusing a small child who simply wanted to purchase a Jar Jar Binks toy.

But these days, Pegg feels as though he may have gone a little too far in his prequel-bashing.

During a recent video interview with Variety, Pegg discussed Spaced’s Star Wars hostility, specifically...

How Leonardo DiCaprio Almost Starred In Inglourious Basterds & Changed Quentin Tarantino’s WWII Epic
Image
Leonardo DiCaprio Almost Played Hans Landa ( Photo Credit – Instagram )

Quentin Tarantino delivered something sharp and unpredictable with Inglourious Basterds. After the blood-soaked frenzy of Kill Bill and the grindhouse style of Death Proof, this World War II tale felt like a shift, not only for himself, but to his fans as well.

The movie still had his signature energy, but there was more precision to it. A group of soldiers led by Aldo Raine slicing through the Nazi ranks, and a young Jewish woman named Shosanna setting fire to revenge using cinema itself sounds like Tarantino was having fun with history.

Leonardo DiCaprio Was Nearly Cast As Hans Landa

The 2009 Tarantino classic eventually became a hit, but the path to it wasn’t smooth. Tarantino spent years shaping the story, sometimes even thinking about turning it into a TV series. But, along the way, casting plans changed, and some of...

Ranking 30 Best Movie Franchises of All Time
Image
Several movie franchises feel like that one friend who never overstays their welcome, but just when you think they’re done, boom, another banger drops. Yep, we’re talking about those superheroes to wizards, fast cars to galaxy-saving movie franchises that have given us swoon-worthy blockbusters, epic cliffhangers, and at least one character we’re too much invested in.

Be it lightsabers, Infinity Stones, or just plain ‘I don’t have friends, I got family’ dialogues, these cinematic universes have truly mastered the art of drawing us back in. And honestly, some of the sequels slap so hard that the original, we just can’t stop binge-watching it all over again. No, we’re not talking about who made the most money; it’s about the ones that left a deep mark and made us yell in theaters, cry over fictional deaths, and maybe even dress up at midnight premieres.
