At a whopping 2 hours and 22 minutes, this documentary features EVERYthing you EVERY wanted to know about Hellboy the comic character and Hellboy the movie. Interviews with pretty much everyone (well the main players) who had to do with the film. it's a massive amount of information to take in. OK, Hellboy was a good movie, but does it warrant a documentary THIS massive (longer than the film itself) To sit down for the whole thing is daunting to say the least. However due to the size, I can only truly recommend this to die hard fans of the comic.

My Grade: B-

I never got onboard the bandwagon for Hellboy, I never rated the movies very highly and thought the animated spinoffs were pretty weak affairs.

Regardless of my opinions they reached cult status and have almost reached Firefly (2002) levels with peoples desire for more. Alas as I write this in 2018 it's long since confirmed part 3 isn't happening and in fact the whole franchise is getting rebooted.

The Seeds of Creation is an almost two and a half hour making of documentary exclusively for the first movie. It involves everything you'd normally expect such as interviews, backstage footage and explanations into the movies special effects.

It drags and the interviews are more than a little lacking but for fans of the franchise I'd imagine this feature is an absolute goldmine.

I see what they were doing and respect it but I'm a) Not a fan and b) Don't think this is a very well constructed making of documentary.
