Exclusive: Mad Distribution, the pan-Arab releasing arm of Cairo-based pan-Arab film company Mad Solutions, has acquired all Middle East and North African rights to Annemarie Jacir’s Palestine 36.

The hot-button epic about Palestine’s 1936 revolt against British colonial rule features Jeremy Irons (A Reversal of Fortunes), Hiam Abbas (Succession) and Kamel El Basha (The Idol) in a high-profile international cast.

The film is expected to release theatrically in late 2025 following a festival launch.

The Arab all-rights distribution deal with Mad comes just a few days after France’s mk2 films and newly launched company Lucky Number announced they were joining forces to handle international sales on Jacir’s film which was previously known as All Before You.

The international co-production involves Jacir and Ossama Bawardi’s Philistine Films, Autonomous, Corniche Media, Mk Productions, and Snowglobe.

Filming is underway at Liverpool and Anglesey, U.K., locations on Ian Puleston-Davies’ feature film “Bolan’s Shoes,” starring Timothy Spall (“Mr. Turner”), Leanne Best (“Line of Duty”) and Mark Lewis-Jones (“The Crown”).

The film features music by the pioneers of the glam rock movement of the 1970s, Marc Bolan’s T-Rex, and is designed as a celebration of that decade’s culture. However, much like Marc Bolan’s own legacy, who died in a road accident in 1977, its glitter is dimmed by the tragic repercussions of a deadly road accident and the question of what might have been. The story celebrates the enduring legacy of childhood experiences and the deep bonds of sibling love.

Puleston-Davies, also an actor with credits including “Pennyworth” (2019-21), previously wrote “Dirty Filthy Love” (2004), starring Michael Sheen, which he co-wrote with Jeff Pope, based on his personal experiences of Ocd. “Bolan’s Shoes” is his directorial debut.

One of the most disturbing and engrossing movies of the 2010s, Bong Joon Ho’s Snowpiercer (based on Jacques Lobabout's Le Transperceneige) is finding new life as a TV series on TNT starring Jennifer Connelly and Daveed Diggs. The series was already renewed for a second season by WarnerMedia, and following its first trailer reveal at Comic-Con, a new promo video has now been unveiled, along with a May premiere date.

Snowpiercer will finally get the wheels moving this spring -- almost five years after the TV adaptation entered development.

The series will receive its highly anticipated premiere Sunday, May 31 at 9/8c.

The series was initially slated to air on TNT, but was later moved to the comedy-heavy TBS, leading to many wondering what was going on.

However, the network later reversed that decision and moved Snowpiercer back to TNT.

The series also received a major setback when it was announced that showrunner Josh Friedman was stepping away from the adaptation.

Snowpiercer follows the remaining members of the human race seven years after an ice age turns the world into a ball of ice.

The final group of people alive are aboard a giant train that makes its way around the globe, and will explore “class warfare, social injustice and the politics of survival,” according to the official description.

The post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama, which is based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel series and the Bong Joon Ho-directed film of the same name, will premiere Sunday, May 31 at 9/8c on the cable channel.

In case you forgot, this is the long-gestating show that started at TNT, moved to TBS and then moved back to TNT. It’s also the show that Josh Friedman wrote the original pilot for and was set to serve as showrunner on, only to be fired over “creative differences” in February 2018 and replaced by “Orphan Black” co-creator Graeme Manson — a decision he did not take well.

Snowpiercer will finally pull into the station this spring — nearly five years after the small-screen adaptation was first put into development.

The post-apocalyptic drama will premiere on Sunday, May 31 at 9/8c, it was announced Wednesday. Based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel (which was first adapted for film by Parasite director Bong Joon Ho in 2013), the TV version is “set more than seven years after the world has become a frozen wasteland” and “centers on the remnants of humanity who inhabit a perpetually moving train, with 1,001 cars, that circles the globe,” according to the official logline.

Philomena producer is to join Steve Coogan’s Baby Cow Productions.

Christine Langan is set to step down as head of BBC Films and replace Henry Normal as CEO of Baby Cow Productions.

A spokesperson for BBC Films told Screen the organisation “could not comment on speculation” but Screen sources have subsequently confirmed the departure, which was first revealed by Screen’s sister publication Broadcast.

Langan’s contract and a timetable for the exit are currently being ironed out but Screen sources have indicated that a late October departure is possible.

Langan, producer of Oscar winners The Queen and Philomena, will work closely with Baby Cow co-founder and actor Steve Coogan to shepherd the company through its next phase of growth.

Baby Cow co-produced Philomena, in which Coogan starred and co-wrote, as well as other Coogan vehicles including Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa, 24 Hour Party People and A Cock And Bull Story.

Acclaimed actor Michael Sheen and actress Lizzy Caplan have been cast as the leads in the Showtime drama pilot Masters of Sex, where they will portray 1960's human sexuality pioneers William Masters and Virginia Johnson. Directed by Academy Award nominee John Madden (Shakespeare in Love), the pilot will begin production in New York in March. Michelle Ashford (The Pacific), Judith Verno, and Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly (Justified) are executive producers. Michael Sheen and Tammy Rosen will serve as producers. Masters of Sex is produced by Sony Pictures Television.

Masters of Sex chronicles the lives and the intriguing, unusual relationship between Masters and Johnson, the pioneers into the science of human sexuality, whose research touched off the sexual revolution. Michael Sheen's face is most recognized for playing Tony Blair in 'The Queen' and David Frost in 'Frost/Nixon.' But other parts of him have received considerable screen-time as well.

When Sheen appeared on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37Am Et on CBS), fellow Briton Craig Ferguson noted, "Last time you were here, I watched the biopic you did of the British comedian Kenneth Williams ... It is a fantastic performance. May I say, though, we see -- and this will set the DVD sales through the roof -- a fair amount of your penis in that movie."

LONDON -- Sex Traffic, Channel 4's harrowing two-part drama about the lives of two Moldovan sisters sold into sexual slavery, picked up two major awards at the Royal Television Society's annual program awards held Tuesday night at London's Grosvenor House Hotel. Filmed in Romania, London and Canada, the Granada/Canadian Broadcasting Corp. co-production took the best drama serial award as well as the coveted best actress prize for newcomer Anamaria Marinca.
