Nickelback and Hardy team up for an epic collaboration as part of the iconic CMT Crossroads series. So, what can listeners expect from this latest crossover?

CMT Crossroads Is A Legendary Series

As an artist, when you become successful in a particular style or genre, it can be tempting to take on the “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” mindset. After all, once you crack the code and find the winning formula, why mess with something that is working?

However, since first kicking off all the way back in January of 2002, CMT Crossroads brings together two famous artists or bands that might not normally cross paths. What comes of these epic pairings is renditions of songs that blend both styles to create something entirely new.

With over 22 seasons and more than 70 episodes to its credit, CMT Crossroads continues to be a hit with fans, and the show isn’t slowing down whatsoever.

Pope, 24, won breakthrough video of the year at Wednesday night's show, broadcast live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. The "Wasting All These Tears" singer fit in some playful banter with presenter Shelton during her acceptance speech. "What do I do?" she exclaimed after taking the stage, to which Shelton replied, "Still coaching you." The season three Voice champion, who took her...

Kacey Musgraves in The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show (2019)
Between picking up two Grammys and an Acm, it's been a whirlwind couple of months for Kacey Musgraves. The country singer can add another accolade to her already-impressive resumé, though: She was the first artist in her genre to perform at the GLAAD Media Awards. Katy Perry at an event for Katy Perry: Part of Me (2012)
Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves will be tour mates this summer, but first the two will come together for the 50th episode of “Crossroads,” Cmt’s innovative series that pairs country artists with acts from another genre. “Cmt Crossroads: Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves” will premiere June 13, not only on Cmt, but on sister stations VH1, MTV, MTV Hits and Palladia. The show should provide a big boost for Musgraves, who won Grammys this January for best country song and best country album, but has yet to break through into the mainstream. As with past episodes, Perry and Musgraves will share stories and songs in the hour-long episode. Past pairings have include Def Leppard with Taylor Swift, Bon Jovi and Sugarland, Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum, Elvis Costello and Lucinda Williams, and, most recently, Dierks Bentley with OneRepublic. Perry's tour kicks off June 22 in Raleigh, N.C.

Singing Legend Etta James Dead at 73; Carrie Underwood & Steven Tyler Team Up; Vanessa Hudgens Steams It Up in Hawaii
ReelzChannel Celebrity Rundown

February 4, the night before Super Bowl Xlvi, Steven Tyler and Carrie Underwood will share the stage in a live Cmt Crossroads special. If the pairing seems odd (beyond the American Idol marketing angle), we remind you that the duo did perform together at the 2011 Country Music Awards — which gives up hope that they won't cover "I'm a Little Bit Country, I'm a Little Bit Rock and Roll."

***

Just in case her promotional appearances for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island with ex Josh Hutcherson have been causing any confusion, Vanessa Hudgens flew to Hawaii and planted a steamy series of kisses on boyfriend Austin Butler in full view of the paparazzi.

After taking to Facebook to bash Madonna's Golden Globe win last weekend, Elton John's husband, David Furnish, has backtracked, writing an apology of sorts, again on Facebook: "My passion for our film Gnomeo & Juliet and...
