Next Week, Foyle’s War returns to the U.S. and you can catch up with the sleuth’s latest investigations on both PBS Masterpiece and AcornTV. Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks are back for the new season while Daniel Weyman (Colditz) joins the cast as Adam Wainwright — Sam’s husband.

Daniel is no stranger to period dramas having previously appeared in Great Expectations (alongside Helena Bonham-Carter), Poirot, and Dunkirk. However, this is the first time he has taken on a prominent, recurring role in a major television drama. He was kind enough to talk to BestBritishTV about his thoughts on the show, his cast-mates and his hopes for the future..

Twelve years ago, HBO put to screen a miniseries that was one part Television event, one part historical drama, which had the considerable backing of executive producers Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and the hype of being something of a spiritual successor to their highly acclaimed war film Saving Private Ryan. "Colditz" Miniseries From eOne
"Colditz", the R-rated, 2005 two-part miniseries, produced by Granada Television for ITV, will be available on DVD, April 19, 2011, from eOne.

Written by Peter Morgan and directed by Stuart Orme, the BAFTA Television Craft Award winner is based on author Henry Chancellor's book "Colditz (aka "Colditz: The Definitive History") and the UK Channel Four TV series "Escape from Colditz".

"...'Colditz' tells the story of a British Pow, during World War II, who successfully escapes to Britain only to steal the girlfriend of a fellow prisoner who was not able to escape with him.

"Once in Britain, he is rewarded with a position at 'MI9', which he uses to try to prevent his fellow Pow from returning and reclaiming his girlfriend..."

Hart has Power in continental Europe
LONDON -- U.K. independent production company Power said Wednesday it has appointed media consultant Simon Hart to spearhead continental European co-production activities. Power, the television drama company behind Emmy Award-winner Henry VIII and the recent ITV two-part feature Colditz, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Hart has more than 18 years of experience in the international TV programming and production industry working on strategic business planning, co-financing and co-production with such partners as MGM/UA, Alliance Atlantis and Nickelodeon. She will seek new financing for program-making from European broadcast partners, the company said. "We're thrilled that Simon Hart is joining our team, she has a fabulous track record and will be a great addition to the team," said Power founder and chief executive Justin Bodle.
