I remember playing this Spyro game for the first time on Sony PS2 in May 2003 when I was thirteen years old. I thought it was going to be a great game but it's not very good as the other Spyro games especially the classic PS1 trilogy which is originally developed by an American video game developer Sony-owned Insomniac Games. I've heard it has many bugs and glitches. Universal should be ashamed of that bad or mediocre Spyro game. I'm sure it is a very disappointing game.
It's probably the worst Spyro game I've ever played.
It is also for Nintendo GameCube. PC and Microsoft Xbox ports of the game were planned but unfortunately they were cancelled maybe due to its very negative reviews.
If you're reading this, don't buy it on PS2 or Nintendo GameCube! Don't even attempt to waste your money on this rubbish. Don't buy and download it from the PS Store if it is available either.
Go and play three classic PS1 Spyro games instead.

As a lover of the spyro games. I have to protest heavily against this game.
When I started playing the game, I became increasingly frustrated. The game would lag because of all the spiffy new graphics that the PS2 just couldn't halde. So the game was choking, a lot. But the main-character in this game is not moving properly. He's slow and sluggish. And does not command well. Not nearly as agile as in the previous games.
The Previous Spyro games had excellent gameplay. I suggest that you don't waste any money on this game. This is the worst takeover baby in the history of gaming. Merely because of this game, I have refused to purchase the 5th Spyro game, "Hero's tail". If the standards of this games series have dropped so seriously. I recommend that you try before you buy.

I hated it with a passion. Why this Spyro was done with a different company and in such a hurry is beyond me. I played it once and beat it in less than one day. I decided to try again to see if maybe the second time would seem better...it didn't. In in fact, I sold it back to a game-selling store for not very much...only 6 dollars, which is obvious to why it would be only that much, cuz the game is a piece of crap and any person who ever thinks of playing it, even if you're a huge Spyro fan like me, you've been warned.
I am hoping that after a while the Spyro series for the PS2 will get better, but until then if it ever does occur, the PS1 series was so much more fun than the new ones. The only improvement in the new ones is the graphics, but only with looks...the movement needed work and a lot of it!

In an attempt to follow in the footsteps of Insomniac games, the original creators of the Spyro games, Check Six Studios made Spyro 4 on a rushed timeline, and it shows. Aside from the generic lag which inundates the entire game, the game crashes easily in several different spots. I've never been very great at video games, but I was able to complete each of the Playstation Spyro games multiple times.
Enter the Dragonfly had me throw down my controller in disgust.
While the plot of the game is valid enough, the most crucial part of the spyro series' games, Insomniac Games' humor, was left behind. To be found in Ratchet and Clank.
