Lerner who?
Getting serious for a moment, this is the fact around which we will orbit: What really constitutes American culture? Literature and architecture and painting -- yes, certainly. But what particularly animates our hearts is song -- and, in particular, the living energy of the American musical theater. In that buoyant realm, there’s no greater literate master than lyricist and writer Alan Jay Lerner (1918-1986). The open-and-shut-case evidence for this assertion is his CV: On A Clear Day, Brigadoon, Gigi, Paint Your Wagon, An American In Paris (story and screen play), Camelot, and -- most famously, My Fair Lady.
Watching our black and white TV, as a child I noticed my parents (and the studio audience) were delighted by a singer I’d never heard of. I could not understand the big to-do about him.

Doctor Who legend Tom Baker has been discussing the idea of a Children in Need reunion. He would like to see a script and might even consider it. He's also declared that he would want input into the script - a sure fire way of getting to the bottom of whether or not the project and producers are serious. More interesting than his declaration of intent however are the Great Man's thoughts on kissing girls as the Doctor. "...If people can appear and disappear and walk through walls and...

So there I was, watching Isla Fisher’s new film Confessions of a Shopaholic and being a little surprised as how likable she is on screen in a leading role when it occurred to me... I’m probably never going to see her boobs again... at least until she turns 40 and is ...

The following contains Major Spoilers for the episode "Show Me the Mummy" from the SciFi Channel series, "Eureka." This episode was a bit of a departure than the normal episode of "Eureka." Instead of focusing on some new technology gone awry, this one tackled the ancient lore of Egyptian mummies and curses in an entertaining, yet uneven fashion. Despite the difference in focus, it was pretty much business as usual in "Eureka." That isn.t necessarily bad, but it is getting to be a bit too routine. In the first "Post-Stark" episode, Stark somehow managed to return, albeit in the form of a hologram he programmed onto Allison's necklace. What's this have to do with mummies? Absolutely nothing. But for some odd reason, Stark kept appearing to Allison and only at the end did she discover ...
