10 Dark Fantasy Anime to Binge While Waiting for the Vampire Hunter D Remaster
Image
Vampire Hunter D is a 1985 anime film based on the novel series of the same name written by Hideyuki Kikuchi and illustrated by Yoshitaka Amano. The series' first film was also the first dark fantasy anime for an adult audience. Its anime sequel, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, is even more revered as a dark fantasy film.

Vampire Hunter D is a staple of anime, fantasy novels, and manga. As fans look forward to Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust's remastered theatrical release, they can spend their wait watching similar dark fantasy series and films. Vampire and grimdark series often follow, and sometimes subvert, the standards Vampire Hunter D helped popularize in anime.

Best Anime by Studio Sunrise, Ranked
Image
Studio Sunrise has been around for over half a century, having been founded in September of 1972 (then known as Studio Soeisha) and coming out with its first animated production, Hazedon, the same year. Since then, Sunrise has been producing a steady stream of popular anime, many of which are mecha-based.

Sunrise is most known for making series filled with giant, pilotable robots; however, the company is not limited to the mecha genre. It is a long-standing and well-established studio that has been feeding anime fans with some of the biggest titles in anime history. Its responsible for gifting the community with the widely loved Cowboy Bebop, the endlessly hilarious Gintama, the beautiful romances of InuYasha and so much more.

Overlooked Anime Love Interests
Image
There are some anime husbandos and waifus who have earned their popularity several times over. Sometimes they overshadow other worthy anime love interests, though. Often they come from indie or older titles, but they're romantic and well-written.

Characters like Yuichiro from Sailor Moon come from a huge franchise but may not be the first to come to mind when it comes to quality love interests. Nevertheless, he's a sweet character and worthy partner. He's just understandably overshadowed by someone like Tuxedo Mask. Other characters like Himuro from The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague will no doubt gain more popularity the more people watch the newer anime.

Edgar (Earl And Fairy)

Edgar can dance and flirt, often sweeping studious and proper Lydia off her feet in Earl and Fairy. He's not all blushes and sass, either. He's actually surprisingly useful for a fop gentleman.

Anime Characters Like Kylo Ren
Image
Kylo Ren is one of the most popular and most hotly debated characters in the Star Wars saga. Kylo Ren follows in a rich literary tradition of Byronic heroes (and villains), including Wuthering Heights's Heathcliff and InuYasha's Sesshomaru. Byronic heroes are stern, sometimes unlikable romantic heroes.

There's a reason both Sesshomaru and Kylo Ren are the stars of so many epic fanfictions. Characters like Kylo Ren are popular in paranormal romance and dark fantasy anime. Sometimes, they're a villain with an arduous redemption arc, and other times, they're a surly anti-hero who ends up doing the right thing but not always for the right reasons.

5 Anime That Would Make Badass Live-Action Movies
We’ve now seen a couple of instances of filmmakers wanting to take an anime show and turn it into a live-action movie, and every time it has been a flop. The obvious examples are of course The Last Airbender and Dragonball Evolution. However, what if people did these adaptations right? We picked some of our favorite anime shows that could potentially pull off the live-action treatment.

Supernatural GenreYu Yu Hakusho

The Story: Yu Yu Hakusho is an anime from the '90s about Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi. Yusuke goes around with his friends fighting off demons to save the world. This could be adapted really well into a live-action movie using the Saint Beast story arc. We’d start off with Yusuke, already having his powers, receiving the call to Maze Castle, where the four Saint Beasts reside. Yusuke and supporting characters Kuwabara, Hiei, and Kurama would, of course,...
