    Terrific romantic comedy/drama!

The attractive, 32-year old and single Dora edits scripts for plays and is working on "Dangerous Liaisons." One day when her lover shoves her, half-naked, out on a balcony at the sudden appearance of the wife that Dora didn't know he had, Dora is rescued by a handsome man named Tamas! She later finds out that Tamas is the star of her play who is much pursued by the ladies. Dora can't trust that Tamas is anything more than a Don Juan when he shows interest in her and, longing to have a baby but not finding the right man, she places a personals ad asking for "just sex and nothing else" with the idea of getting pregnant and having a baby on her own. Lots more happens in this fast-paced story, and it's very funny lines, touching and human characters makes for a really enjoyable experience. I loved it and hope it comes out on DVD soon!

A Bridget Jones clone, with a way more life and beauty

Well, it seems the "Bridget Jones" phenomena penetrated the film-making nowadays. A talented Hungarian filmmaker lady created a nice after-shoot of the "original". She took two really pretty female characters in the summit of their single-hood, added a cool mix of guys, the not-so-bad (Tamás), the not-so-good (Péter), and the runner-up (Ali), placed these persons into the microcosmos of a theater, and voilà, there is a refreshing and a way more entertaining presentation of the original "Single-Lady-Chases-The-Father-For-Her-New-Baby" scenario.

But, as always, the secret is in the details. First, this film is a fully loaded comedy, with lots of laughable situations and sparking dialogs. But also a personal drama, about a working woman in her middle of thirties, who already gave up the chance to get a "soulmate", and the remaining, and quite serious goal is to have a baby. This dramatic motivation pushes her into pretty nasty situations, the outsiders (and the viewers) can easily laugh at.

And the story, contrary to the gags is pretty close to the real life, the characters really have depth. That is why can Mr. Csányi, (a star from "Kontroll") outperform even Mr. Firth. With ease. Same applies to a Ms. Schell - Ms. Zellwegner comparison.

And not just the drama balances the comedy. There is lots of emotion presented in the film, but with utter sensitivity. I have to mention Mr. Gulyás' picture crafting talent, some of the sequences are not just perfect, but stunning, especially when he plays with the speed. I think there is the best Budapest depiction in the last decade, compressed into less then 20 seconds. Some of his sequences gave the perfect depth of this comedy.

Let see some of the cons. First, as I mentioned, the story lacks the uniqueness. Some of the repetitions came from a theatrical archetype (secret lover escapes through the balcony), some from more recent films, (a similar scene with the applicants appeared in the "Coming to America", in the "Sea of Love", or speaking of Hungarian films in the "Kontroll"). I found some of the gags a bit too harsh, but I guess it is a question of personal taste. I have to add, even the "harsh" ones are way more civilized, than you can experience in recent "campus comedies" like "Van Wilder". And Ms. Schell's sidekick, Ms. Dobó, is simply not up to the challenge. The director most probably knew it, and adjusted the role accordingly, but she remained as a weak spot on the film.

So, if you liked Bridget Jones, if you like to see it with more humor, more life, and more beauty, you should see this film also.

    My all-time favourite Hungarian movie

I am a male and I rarely watch romantic comedies, this genre is not really my cup of tea by default, I usually only watch this type of movies only in the companion of a girl, but I have to admit I absolutely like this movie. It is a Hungarian romantic comedy with a little bit of drama in it.

I remember first watching this movie at my local theatre when it was released in Hungary in 2005. It was a national holiday, the movie theatres were open, but there was not really anything playing that was of my interest, so I decided to watch this movie. And boy, what a good decision it was, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie.

Good basic premise, well drawn up, very likeable characters, played by actresses and actors who are perfect for their roles and who are all on top of their games and play those characters perfectly. The humour is the right type (at least for me), the dialogues are good, lifelike and funny, the two main actresses are young and beautiful, and sometimes scantily clad, and there is even a little bit of female (and a bit of male) nudity in it if that is what you are after. :) At the end of the movie there is a happy ending, everybody finds the right partner. And be warned, shortly after the end credits start rolling, there are a few more scenes that are part of the story and conclude the story. Also, as extra entertainment, during the closing credits there are bloopers, outtakes where the cast members made a mistake in the scene, these are also great fun. I think the best way to watch the movie is to watch it in its original Hungarian, because the dialogues, the jokes, the slang come over best in Hungarian, it is not always possible to translate them into English perfectly. Obviously, this option is only available to Hungarian speakers.

I am very picky when it comes to which movie to include in my blu-ray collection, but this movie definitely earned its place in my collection.

A well-written, well-acted, well-made, funny and very enjoyable romantic comedy. This is my favourite Hungarian movie and my favourite romantic comedy of all time. Perfect entertainment, a resounding 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

    Romantic, funny and well made

Won't describe the movie because its plot has been explained elsewhere. Good plot with a lot of overlapping themes: the female biological clock, the theater, romantic relationships... Loved the sense of humor and the witty dialogs. The quirky characters, with lots of chutzpah, are great. The actresses are clear proof of the beauty of Hungarian women, Budapest is an excellent background and the movie moves at a good pace.

The movies has no great pretensions, but that is exactly why it is good. This is the sort of thing that Hollywood has forgotten how to make. And for a country with a small international presence in the world of movies, this is a really professional film.

    All in all, very enjoyable.
