New Doctor Who Christmas Special The Return Of Doctor Mysterio to Screen in Select Theaters this December
Cherished by Doctor Who fans as much as decorating the tree or sipping eggnog by the fire are the series' popular Christmas specials, and Fathom Events and BBC Worldwide North America have teamed up to bring the show's latest holiday adventure, The Return of Doctor Mysterio, to select cinemas for two nights this December.

Press Release: Denver – November 16, 2016 – BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events announce their last theatrical event of 2016, the Doctor Who Christmas Special, “The Return of Doctor Mysterio,” in movie theaters nationwide for two nights only on Tuesday, December 27 and Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. local time both days.

The event will include the full 60-minute special plus two exclusive bonus features, A New Kind of Superhero, giving a special inside look at Doctor Who’s concept of a modern superhero, and a special Christmas Doctor Who Extra, showing the making of this year’s special,...

This week in TV news: The Academy hands down rulings on hourlong comedies
Following a ruling last month that the Television Academy would only consider half hour shows eligible for the comedy category at the Emmys, a panel of nine analysts have now begun handing down the rulings for exemptions in the selection process. The panel, which was set up to determine the category assignment of hour-long shows that appealed their placement in drama, has now ruled, as per Variety, that the Fox show Glee, the Showtime series Shameless, and the CW series Jane The Virgin can compete as comedies at the upcoming primetime Emmys. The decision will apply to all categories, from Acting to Directing, and so on.

One show that notably wasn’t granted a waiver, however, is the Netflix serial Orange Is The New Black. The series, which revolves around the inhabitants of a women’s prison, was categorised as a comedy at last year’s Primetime Emmys, where it picked up three wins.

Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, and Dave Bautista in Les Gardiens de la Galaxie (2014)
'No Good Deed' Has a Good Box Office Weekend
Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, and Dave Bautista in Les Gardiens de la Galaxie (2014)
After four weeks of being at the top, Guardians of the Galaxy is no longer number one.

There's a new movie sweeping the box office this weekend, and it's finally taking the number one spot away from Guardians of the Galaxy. With an opening weekend of $24.5 million, the movie about an unstable escaped convict terrorizing a woman who is alone with her two children is number one this week. Starring Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson, the two are also executive producers on the film. Already surpassing its $13.2 million budget, this thriller is one to beat.

In second, Dolphin Tale 2 made $16.5 million its opening weekend. The team of people who saved, dolphin, Winter's life are back to find her a companion. Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman and Harry Connick Jr. reunite on-screen in this family movie. To compare to the first one, Dolphin Tale performed at $19 million its opening weekend.

Friday Box Office: 'No Good Deed' Doubles 'Dolphin Tale 2', 'The Drop' Makes Top Ten
Well, I guess we will have a movie crossing $20 million this weekend, but it won't be the sequel Dolphin Tale 2, but instead the Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson thriller No Good Deed, which took #1 on Friday with a whopping $8.8 million. Made for only $13.2 million, this one is looking to nearly double its production budget in its first three days. I haven't yet seen a CinemaScore for the film, but the fact Screen Gems cancelled press screenings at the eleventh hour didn't bode well for the film's possible quality so it will be interesting to see if audiences end up enjoying it even though the critics that have rushed out to see it on their own dime seem to be unimpressed. Dolphin Tale 2 took half the amount of No Good Deed on Friday, bringing in an estimated $4.3 million, but perhaps the more interesting result is the $1.5 million The Drop...

Your Box Office Predictions for 'No Good Deed' and 'Dolphin Tale 2'
Will it be Dolphin Tale 2 or No Good Deed at the top of this weekend's box officec The more I think about it the more I think I have to go against Laremy and the readers on this one. Laremy gave Dolphin Tale 2 a "sequel bump" in his predictions, but is this really the kind of sequel that gets a bumpc I'm not so sure, and with Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson leading the way for No Good Deed and Screen Gems cancelling all press screenings, eliminating bad buzz early on, it really could take the crown. Though I don't think either film will receive much overall audience support in what is sure to be another lackluster weekend. Laremy has Dolphin Tale 2 topping $20 million, I really don't see that happening and neither do the readers, their predictions averaging $18.9 million. Laremy did go a little higher than...

Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #81. Terrence Malick’s Untitled Romantic Drama
Lawless

Director: Terrence Malick

Writer: Terrence Malick

Producers: Nicolas Gonda, Sarah Green, Ken Kao

U.S. Distributor: Rights Available

Cast: Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Val Kilmer, Benicio Del Toro, Holly Hunter, Bérénice Marlohe, Clifton Collins Jr., Haley Bennett, Boyd Holbrook, Tom Sturridge, Angela Bettis

To consider one’s self a fan of Terrence Malick’s oeuvres is, for lack of a better term, cinephile martyrdom. As one of the two current projects that should be released this year (how many times have we said this), the formerly titled Lawless sounds like a Grand Slam in terms of musical acts assisting a romantic backdrop of a good looking set of actors and actresses (they’ll certainly look lush with Emmanuel Lubezki assisting in the photography) this mostly scriptless project might turn out to be a first-cousin comparison the largely dismissed To the Wonder.
