Two years after its initial announcement, fans have finally received a promising update on the live-action God of War adaptation from Sony TV and Amazon MGM Studios.
On a recent episode of The Sackhoff Show with The Mandalorian actress Katee Sackhoff, God of War series showrunner Ron Moore confirmed that the project has been picked up for two seasons. "Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War," he explained. "It's a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of. They've asked me to come in, and I'm literally in the writers' room working on that."
According to Moore, the God of War adaptation will be a completely new frontier for him. "I'm not a gamer, so it's even more like, 'Okay, I've never done this before,'" he said. The showrunner's experience on hit series like Battlestar Galactica...

Prime Video is working on a God Of War TV adaptation and showrunner Ronald D. Moore has just revealed there’ll be two seasons to look forward to.
Video game adaptations are all the rage at the moment, and with HBO’s The Last Of Us having proven to be a huge hit, other streaming services are keen on recreating that level of success.
Perhaps the biggest one of these is Amazon’s God Of War, which has been in the works for quite a while now. Things didn’t look too great last October when the show reportedly scrapped its creative team for a complete overhaul of the series.
New showrunner Ronald D. Moore, who has previously worked on several Star Trek TV shows as well as the Battlestar Galactica reboot and For All Mankind, recently chatted with Katee Sackhoff on her podcast The Sackhoff Show (here via Screen...

God of War showrunner Ronald D. Moore shares a new update on the upcoming Prime Video adaptation. First announced in 2022, the adaptation of the hit PlayStation video game franchise was originally being spearheaded by Mark Fergus, Hawk Ostby, and Rafe Judkins. The God of War TV show was reported to follow the game's protagonist, Kratos, as he embarks on a dangerous journey with his estranged son following the death of his wife. The series hit a snag last October, however, when Fergus, Otsby, and Judkins all left the project, with Amazon looking to take things in a new direction.
During a recent interview with Katee Sackhoff on The Sackhoff Show podcast, Moore, who joined the show within a week of the previous team's departure, reveals that Amazon has already ordered two seasons of the God of War series. The showrunner says that he's currently hard at work in the writers' room for the series,...

General Hospital spoilers reveal that James Patrick Stuart recently made an appearance as Valentin Cassadine.
Unfortunately, rumors have been swirling ever since that Stuart may soon be leaving again. This makes fans worry that Valentin is about to exit the soap once again since he is currently on the run again.
Is Valentin About To Exit Again Perhaps Permanently?
James was in Galactica 1980 as Dr Zee which was the start of his acting career. Stuart moved to soaps in 1989, where he played Will Cortland until 1992. Stuart then joined General Hospital in 2016 as Valentin.
Of course, Valentin lied about his identity and called himself Theo at the time. Valentin was just another Cassadine who wanted to wreak havoc on Port Charles.
Valentin’s parentage has changed a few times since his arrival in Port Charles. He was originally thought to be the son of Victor Cassadine (Theo Penghlis).

Buffy the Vampire Slayeris truly a television show that's shaped the landscape of....well, TV. In addition to a mix of horror, humor, and heart that won over a long-lasting fanbase, Buffy the Vampire Slayer writers have gone on to shape other genre hits, including Battlestar Galactica, Daredevil, and Lost. But none of that would be possible without its cast, as Buffy the Vampire Slayer boasts arguably one of the best ensemble casts in television history. It turns out that one of those characters could have been very different, especially considering Alyson Hannigan wasn't the first choice for Buffy's best friend, Willow Rosenberg.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is one of Hollywood’s most successful actors, at least in terms of earnings. His movies grossed over $10.5 billion worldwide. But despite this financial success, Dwayne Johnson’s movies have a tendency to prioritize spectacle over substance. And that’s exactly why he shouldn’t be a part of the God of War live-action adaptation.
Dwayne Johnson’s movies make money, but they aren’t very deep. | Image Credit: New Line
From failed video game adaptations to critically panned blockbuster performances, The Rock’s acting career has largely relied on his charisma rather than his true range. God of War, as we all know, is more than just good looks. So, with a story as emotionally rich as Kratos’, Johnson’s signature larger-than-life persona isn’t the best fit.

Star Wars: Underworld | Producer Rick McCallum on the “dark, sexy, violent” TV series that never was
Long before its purchase by Disney, Lucasfilm was working on a TV series, Star Wars: Underworld. Producer Rick McCallum has talked about why it never happened.
Revenge Of The Sith, the last Star Wars episode directed by George Lucas himself, celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. And while that 2005 film marked the end of the prequel trilogy, Lucas still had plans to expand the Star Wars universe on television.
Announced around the time of Revenge Of The Sith’s release, the TV series Star Wars: Underworld was billed as a darker, edgier take on his space fantasy saga; Lucas once described it as being “based on film noir movies of the 1940s.”
Other people who worked on the show compared its tone to sweary western series Deadwood or gangster epic, The Godfather.
With Battlestar Galactica's Ronald D Moore among its stable of writers, Star Wars: Underworld was in development for at least five years,...

Giancarlo Esposito is known universally as a bad guy - not that the actor himself is a bad person, though he’s got quite the acting repertoire of "bad guy" roles; Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, Stan Edgar in The Boys, Major Tom Neville in the too-short-lived Revolution and, recently, he played Sidewinder in Captain America: Brave New World.
For plenty of roles, he’s unlikely to come back, mostly due to character deaths. For one role in particular, Moff Gideon in the Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian, Esposito feels he should return to finish his character's journey, which Esposito feels isn’t quite over. Speaking to Empire, Esposito re-affirmed that his character could have survived what many would presume to be a certain death.

“There’s always a little bit of truth in legends,” Ahsoka once said on “Star Wars: Rebels.”
That line was a little Easter Egg to fans to assuage them about how the pre-Disney takeover “Star Wars” stories — told in decades-worth of novels, comics, and video games — might still live on in the official canon. It also applies a bit to the show “Star Wars: Underworld,” George Lucas’s ambitious, but ultimately scrapped live-action TV series he was developing in the years after “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith” hit theaters in 2005.
Little bits of information have leaked about the show over the years. One thing was certain: Per its title, it was set in the demimonde of the galaxy far, far away, among its scoundrels, and smugglers, and bounty hunters and assorted other criminals. But now Rick McCallum, the producer best associated with the “Star Wars” prequels, who...

If the recent rash of older-woman-younger-man romances have had one thing in common, it’s the emphasis on the first half of that equation. Films like The Idea of You or Babygirl may not have totally ignored the male point of view, but it was purposefully deprioritized against the fantasy of female sexual awakening — the rush of discovery, the anxiety of aging, the sheer fun of hooking up with a pretty young thing.
Against that framing, the SXSW debut Fantasy Life plays, accidentally, like the flip side to that equation, with its focus on his perspective and its less starry-eyed, more downbeat tone. But if the movie does not offer the same kind of pleasure, it serves as an interesting variation on the theme, as well as a worthy discovery in its own right. With Amanda Peet in a remarkable star turn, it marks a promising debut for writer-director Matthew Shear.

These days, the idea of a Star Wars TV series is old news. In lieu of any big-screen outings for the franchise since the widely panned "Rise of Skywalker" in 2019, the last five-plus years of Star Wars have consisted entirely of streaming shows on Disney+, books, comics, and video games. But back before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm and its associated properties to Disney, Star Wars was a film series before all else, and the idea of bringing its universe to television in live-action seemed far-fetched. Even still, it nearly happened under Lucas, and we now know just how far those grand plans went.
The series' working title was "Star Wars: Underworld," and it would have looked at all kinds of less-traveled corners of the galaxy, following smugglers, bounty hunters, the general criminal element, and other stories less central to the saga of the Skywalkers and the Jedi. And according to...

The upcoming film The Life of Chuck (which Neon will be giving a theatrical release on June 6th) is the latest Stephen King adaptation from Mike Flanagan, who has previously been at the helm of the Stephen King adaptations Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep (and is also developing a series adaptation of The Dark Tower for Amazon Studios) – but it is not a horror movie. JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray got to see the movie a while back (you can read his 7/10 review Here) and described it as a “bittersweet tearjerker.” We’re still waiting to see a trailer for this one, but today a teaser poster has been unveiled and can be seen at the bottom of this article.

The Time Guardian – starring Carrie Fisher and Dean Stockwell and directed by the co-writer of Mad Max 2 – has emerged on Prime Video UK.
Star Wars royalty Carrie Fisher. Blue Velvet and future Quantum Leap co-star Dean Stockwell. Filmmaker and Mad Max 2 co-writer Brian Hannant making one of the most expensive Australian films up to that point.
With a pedigree like that, you might think that The Time Guardian would be better known than it is. Instead, it largely sank without trace on its brief cinema release in 1987, and became one of those films that was doomed to lurk on the lower shelves of VHS rental libraries.
Unexpectedly, though, The Time Guardian has emerged on Prime Video in the UK, which means subscribers have the rare opportunity to watch one of the weirdest – and less often-discussed – sci-fi movies of the 1980s.
On paper, it’s a typical B-movie of its era.

Battlestar Galactica is one of the few science fiction series that proves reboots can improve upon their original source material and that television was ready to support a sci-fi franchise that wasn't Star Wars or Star Trek. From its pitch-perfect pilot to nearly every episode that followed, Ronald D. Moore and his creative team brought a grounded approach to their story — well as grounded as "being chased around space by killer robots" as you could get. But the series finale "Daybreak" alienated some fanswith its resolution to the Galactica's journey to Earth and the startling revelation that Cylons were the forefathers of humanity. Yes, apparently, we're all descended from killer robots. Even Moore has expressed a few regrets on how "Daybreak" wrapped up the series. "To me, I wanted [Battlestar Galactica] to have a definitive ending...a part of me wishes I hadn't done that," he said at last year's San Diego Comic-Con,...

For a show about outer space, SyFy's "Resident Alien" sure grounds itself with some beautiful scenery. The sci-fi comedic drama stars "Firefly" alum Alan Tudyk as Harry, an alien that crash-landed on earth with a mission to kill its people. Instead, Harry became a medical examiner, became besties (and maybe then some) with local human Asta (Sara Tomko), and faced off against some freaky, powerful aliens called the Greys.
All of this happens against the backdrop of Patience, Colorado, a fictional small town with scenic views and nearby wilderness areas. In real life, though, the team behind "Resident Alien" found their version of Patience in a different small town – and a different country. Before the quirky show returns for its fourth season, which will air on USA Network, it's worth brushing up on all the stunning filming locations that help make "Resident Alien" unique.

How many Captain America movies will be made in the MCU? It remains to be seen, but so far so good. Captain America: Brave New World is currently doing decent numbers at the global box office, and even though critics are divided about it, fans have been impressed. On Rotten Tomatoes, the MCU movie has an 80% audience score, confirming that it’s as entertaining as any superhero movie can be. The fourth installment picks up where The Falcon and the Winter Soldier left off, following Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) as he dismantles a conspiracy surrounding President Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford).
Before that, fans had been treated to three Captain America-centric movies starring Chris Evans as Steve Rogers. The first one was tame enough, but the second one raised the stakes by introducing the Winter Soldier, while the third covered an internal feud between the Avengers. After he and his fellow superheroes defeated Thanos,...

A Court of Thorns and Roses, the first novel in a five-book series of the same name, is about a young huntress named Feyre who kills a faerie. Thereafter, she must live in the realm of the fae as punishment. She hates it at first but comes to appreciate her new living conditions, especially after she falls for a high fae lord named Tamlin. According to The A.V. Club, the books by Sarah J. Maas have sold some 20 million copies, so it wasn't shocking to hear a few years back that Disney was working on turning them into a TV series to run on Hulu.
The show was being worked on by Maas herself and Ronald D. Moore, who was instrumental to bringing both the 2000s-era reboot of Battlestar Galactica and Outlander to the screen. It seemed like a dream team, but according to Deadline, Moore eventually left the series.

Battlestar Galactica is arguably the most influential show to come from the era of SyFy originals. While it may not have the longevity of the Star Trek universe, it remains a well-regarded series that made miracles happen on a tight budget. Like all good science fiction,...

The fantasy romance book series A Court of Thorns and Roses, by author Sarah J. Maas, has sold over 13 million copies since the first book was released in 2015. Four years ago, Hulu, along with Battlestar Galactica showrunner Ronald D. Moore, optioned the book series for a television series adaptation. However, per Deadline, Hulu and 20th Television have axed the project.
A Court of Thorns and Roses consists of five books published from 2015 to 2021 that follow 19-year-old Feyre after she is brought to the faerie lands of Pyrthian. A sixth book in the series is reportedly still in the works.

When it comes to naming the TV shows that created a romanticized, wildly unrealistic version of policing, "Dragnet" is often at the top of the list. The show gets mentioned for good reason; while previous shows had portrayed cops as bumbling and imperfect, "Dragnet" was made with the direct input -- and, importantly, approval -- of the Los Angeles Police Department. Thus, as cultural critics including Vox's Constance Grady have pointed out, "Dragnet" all but invented "copaganda," normalizing the myth that most cops are inherently heroic, caring, quick to act, and justice-oriented. You know, all the things that we know are totally true about the LAPD.
If "Dragnet" tops this hypothetical list, "Adam-12" shouldn't be far behind. The series was co-created by Jack Webb, who had also made "Dragnet." It takes place inside the same fictional universe, and it was also reportedly made with input from the LAPD. Its squeaky-clean...

Television reboots and revivals have become a staple of the modern entertainment landscape.
Some breathe new life into beloved franchises, while others fall flat and alienate both old and new audiences.
But what separates a successful reboot from one that misses the mark? The answer lies in a delicate balance between respecting the original, bringing something fresh to the table, and ensuring there’s a real reason for the reboot to exist.
(Curtis Bonds Baker/Netflix) The Difference Between Reboots and Revivals
First, it’s important to distinguish between a reboot and a revival.
Revivals continue the story with established continuity — Cobra Kai and Dallas are prime examples, bringing back original characters and expanding the world to include a new generation.
Reboots, on the other hand, start fresh, often with a new cast and a modernized take on the original.

The 2000s saw a resurgence in mainstream television that is still felt in modern programming. Shows like Lost were commanding the audience’s attention with twisty fantasy mysteries, and Battlestar Galactica was proving spaceships and cyborgs could fit into the world of serious drama. The success of both had networks racing to find their own slice of space to keep viewers glued to their television one cliffhanger at a time.

Oppenheimer and Trap star Josh Hartnett is a bleach blonde John Wick in the latest footage from this month’s aerial action thriller, Fight or Flight. This is far from your average in-flight entertainment, as Hartnett finds himself going up against, well, everyone on a plane full of killers. Fortunately, Hartnett’s character, Lucas Reyes, is a killer himself. Unfortunately, he’s been tasked with protecting the one person all the other killers want dead. You can check out the new trailer for Fight or Flight below.
Fight or Flight is directed by James Madigan (Runaways) and finds Hartnett facing off against several familiar faces in what looks like a twist on Brad Pitt’s 2022 action outing Bullet Train. The cast includes Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) as the mysterious target that Hartnett’s assassin is tasked with protecting, with Julian Kostov (Shadow and Bone), Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica) and Marko Zaror...

For many modern science-fiction fans, you may know Ronald D. Moore from his works on the Apple+ series, "For All Mankind". Yet, for fans of a certain age, you may remember Moore's work on Star Trek. He's often seen as one of the best writers the franchise ever had. Yet, between the current Apple+ series, and his work on Star Trek, Moore rebooted the maligned 1970s and 1980s series, Battlestar Galactica.
Moore helmed the show, which got picked up by SyFy first as a limited-run mini-series, and then later as a full-fledged show. While the show fell off heading into the fourth and final season, it still remains one of the most consistent, thought-provoking and incredible science-fiction series to date.
Yet, not everyone was a fan of the show, or more specifically, the changes Moore made to the series. According to the book "So Say We All: The Complete, Uncensored,...

Star Trek is a franchise that is one of the most important in the history of television, particularly in how it was able to essentially create a subgenre of TV that took many of the rhythms of police procedurals and mapped them onto a utopian science fiction setting. What resulted was a series that appealed to multiple generations of fans, who were able to hop into any single episode of the series without needing much prior context and enjoy Star Trek as an episodic drama.
Star Trek: The Next Generation followed in the footsteps of The Original Series, improving upon the template that was set by the 1960s sci-fi classic to deliver a timeless series in its own right. The best episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation were often ones like "Darmok," which captured the essence of the original show and then built on it by delivering a smart...

Who did Rekha Sharma make angry? The fantastic actress, who many sci-fi fans may remember as Tory Foster on Battlestar Galactica or as Kali on Supernatural, popped up in Star Trek: Discovery early on in the show's run. She appeared in five total episodes in season one and season three respectively, and somehow, in that span of five episodes, she died three times.
Someone must not have liked her.
Jokes aside, that may be a record for the most times a character has been killed off in the span of just five episodes. Now, some will push back a bit, as she technically played three "different" characters. The first is Ellen Landry, the Chief of Security on the USS Discovery during the first season.
She was then seen again near the end of season one, as the Mirror Universe version of Ellen Landry. That character died pretty quickly as well,...

The future of the Battlestar Galactica franchise is uncertain, with Sam Esmail’s reimagined series with Peacock being aborted before it could launch. It had been in development for years, and the last update was that it was being shopped to other streaming platforms. However, nobody has picked it up yet. With a loyal cult following, Moore’s 2004 series is a risky property to pick up, especially as the cast of the 2004 series are so beloved and likely would not return.
I would like to see the original cast return, but if the reboot is set within the same universe as the 2004 series rather than a direct reboot of Moore’s story, I’m not sure where their characters would fit. I hope the human characters aren’t rewritten as either Cylons or divine beings to facilitate their appearance. This would undo years of development of their characters. I’d...

NCIS has been on television for well over 20 seasons. There have also been several spinoff shows and connected shows in the universe. Sir Patrick Stewart is a nexus between "Star Trek" and "X-Men." For geeks, his two most famous roles will always be Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Professor Charles Xavier, and the two roles have a lot in common. The characters are both wise and fatherly leaders, even if Professor X is much warmer than the reserved Picard could ever be.
Stewart is not the only actor to appear in both a "Star Trek" and an "X-Men" production, though. But one overlap you may have missed is the late John Colicos, who played an important villain in both "Star Trek" and "X-Men."

Trap and Oppenheimer star Josh Hartnett has played an action hero before, but never quite like in this year’s Fight or Flight. Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: Discovery killed off Rekha Sharma four different times. Ronald D. Moore's reimagining of Battlestar Galactica premiered in 2004 and became one of the most well-regarded science fiction television series of all time. With its gritty story and shocking twists, Battlestar Galactica captivated viewers, and none of its characters were ever safe. After a devastating attack from the android Cylons wipes out most of humanity, the surviving humans flee into space in search of Earth. Battlestar Galactica ran for four seasons and regularly appears on lists featuring the best television shows of all time.
With its premiere in 2017, Star Trek: Discovery brought Star Trek into the streaming era and ushered in a new golden era for the franchise. Originally conceived as a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, Discovery followed Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) on her journey from committing mutiny to becoming a Starfleet Admiral.

Although Battlestar Galactica is beloved, the 2003 show’s spiritual successor, which was released on Amazon, deserves to return to the silver screen more. The Battlestar Galactica franchise began in 1978 when the original sci-fi series debuted on ABC, garnering the 1979 People’s Choice Award for Best New TV Drama Series. However, the better-known version of the show is the iconic reboot, which ran from 2003 to 2009. The show helped redefine sci-fi, pushing the genre in a new direction and appealing to a broader audience.
Since it went off the air in 2009, Battlestar Galactica has maintained its passionate fanbase, with the franchise garnering a prequel and a web series. In 2019, rumors started about another reboot, which was confirmed in 2020. The prospect of another revival might excite some fans, but The Expanse, a show like Battlestar Galactica, should have a chance to return instead.

Battlestar Galactica's 2004 reboot series made many changes to its source material, and one of those deviations led directly to the show's best character. Beyond the name and central premise, Ronald D. Moore's Battlestar Galactica TV show shared very little in common with the 1970s series created by Glen A. Larson. Moore's tone was darker, the story was richer, the characters were more nuanced, and the Cylons were more fleshy. Nevertheless, Battlestar Galactica's reboot retained many main characters from the original series, including Starbuck, the Adamas, and Colonel Tigh.
Most of these recycled characters only carried a vague resemblance to their namesakes. Battlestar Galactica 2004's cast of characters received more layered development, more backstory, and more color to their personalities. In virtually every case, the reboot's character alterations could be considered improvements, but one reinvention proved particularly successful by turning a run-of-the-mill antagonist into one of sci-fi's greatest characters.

Glen A. Larson's "Battlestar Galactica" has evolved into a sizable franchise since the original series (of the same name) aired in 1978. No matter the medium, these stories always find their way back to the Twelve Colonies — a group of planets representing humanity during the Cylon War — as it falls under attack. The attackers in question are the Cylons, who wish to exterminate the human race at all costs, and to this end, they destroy the Colonies, save for a small group that manages to escape. Among the remaining spacecrafts, only the Battlestar Galactica, which doubles as a battleship and a carrier, is able to offer refuge to the survivors in search of a mysterious new colony: Earth.
Yep, this is a really cool premise, and "Battlestar Galactica" explores the age-old themes of morality, survival, conflict, and faith through an intriguing narrative lens. The techno-jargon employed throughout is not ornamental,...

Battlestar Galactica has earned critical acclaim throughout the years as the series boasts some memorable performances by actors who've starred in a variety of other remarkable projects. It's not an easy task to impress the cult following of a short-lived series like the original Battlestar Galactica, but the re-imagined sci-fi series from the 2000s managed to pull it off. The Syfy original series ran for four seasons and is filled with compelling character relationships and interstellar conflict. Actors like Edward James Olmos, Katee Sackhoff, and Jamie Bamber lead the series and are beloved by audiences for their sci-fi roles.
The series' main cast is made up of re-imagined versions of characters in the original Battlestar Galactica, but the show introduces some new characters as well. Olmos and Mary McDonnell are among the actors in Battlestar Galactica whose biggest role outside the show came before its premiere. Other actors like Grace Park...
