The Legend of King Arthur is one and done on MGM+. The Winter King has been cancelled, so there won't be a second season. The first season of ten episodes finished being released in November on the American outlet.

The legend of King Arthur has been used as the basis for many films throughout cinematic history. But aside from Disney’s “The Sword in the Stone” and the uproarious “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” few films have ever lasted long in the public consciousness. And critics think Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow’s “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword” won’t be a tale that endures through time either. Early reviews for Guy Ritchie’s latest film have been widely negative, panning the film for relying on a generic origin story formula to try to keep audience interest and for using a.

The legend of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table receives its most impressive screen treatment in Excalibur, from visionary director John Boorman (Deliverance, Hope and Glory).

All the elements of Sir Thomas Malory’s classic Le Morte Darthur are here: Arthur (Nigel Terry) removing the sword Excalibur from the stone; the Round Table’s noble birth and tragic decline; the heroic attempts to recover the Holy Grail; and the shifting balance of power between wily wizard Merlin (Nicol Williamson) and evil sorceress Morgana (Helen Mirren).

The legend of King Arthur is about to get a legendary retelling: Deadline is reporting that Guy Ritchie is circling a multi-film franchise that would bring Camelot to the big screen.

The site writes that Warner Bros. is interested in making "a tentpole fantasy retelling of the Arthur legend, meant to span six films," and Ritchie is reportedly interested in taking the helm. The concept is the brainchild of writer Joby Harold (2007's "Awake"), who's already penned the first screenplay for the project.

Deadline also reports that Ritchie and his longtime screenwriting/producing partner, Lionel Wigram, had previously developed a King Arthur concept for another studio, but that deal fizzled out. Warner Bros. had also greenlit a version of the classic tale with director David Dobkins and star Colin Farrell, but that, too, went nowhere. Bryan Singer was also at one point attached to direct a remake of 1981 Arthur flick "Excalibur" for the studio.
