Netflix has announced its first recast for the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Adam Beach will replace Joel Montgrand as the Southern Water Tribe's Chieftain, Hakoda, and the father of Sokka (Ian Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio). The actor will make his Avatar debut in Season 3, which is currently in production.

Before Netflix's Avatar series was released, Beach was a fan-favorite choice for playing Hakoda. Aside from his work on Law & Order, Beach is known for his roles in Cowboys & Aliens, Windtalkers, and Flags of Our Fathers. He began his acting career in 1990 and quickly made an impression, earning three "Best Actor" awards across major festivals, including the 1995 American Indian Film Festival, First Americans in the Arts Awards, and the 1998 San Diego World Film Festival. In 2009, his performance in Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee earned him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor.

Thunderbolts* arrived in theaters last week to glowing reviews from fans and critics alike. Marvel Studios is so back (though we're pretty sure everyone said the same thing after Deadpool & Wolverine and Daredevil: Born Again), and this is a key chapter in the Multiverse Saga.

Avengers: Doomsday has begun shooting in the UK, and a possible first set photo is doing the rounds on social media. It was reportedly taken on or near the movie's set.

We should start by pointing out that there's a very strong chance this is fake; then again, if it were AI generated or a clever counterfit, we'd like to think the creator would have dreamed up something a little more exciting than James Marsden and Benedict Wong having what looks like a simple chat between takes (they don't even appear to be in costume).

The wait for Netflix's live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender has already begun, and we can expect to wait a bit longer. Released in 2024, Season 1 condensed the events of the animated series' first book, and Season 2 is said to follow suit with the second. According to the show's newest cast member, Miya Cech, we may be waiting a while for Season 2. In an interview with The Direct, Cech reveals that fans shouldn't expect the show to return before 2026. While she wasn't exactly sure when fans would reunite with Team Avatar, Cech knows that the production team wants to keep expectations realistic. She said:

"Yeah, I mean, personally, I'm not exactly sure. I feel like they're trying to keep our expectations realistic, so I think that we were looking at early 2026 for Season 2, but let's just hope it gets done a little quicker than that."

In the "Star Trek" episode "Assignment: Earth", the Enterprise travels back in time to the year 1968 -- something, it seems, the Enterprise can just do -- for historical research purposes. While in hiding out in orbit, however, Captain Kirk (William Shatner) and Spock (Leonard Nimoy) detect that someone else nearby is using super-advanced transporter technology, meaning they aren't the only time travelers in the vicinity. Interrupting a transporter signal, the Enterprise beams aboard a handsome and mysterious stranger holding a black cat. This is Gary Seven (Robert Lansing), a time traveler from the 24th century, which is a century beyond from where Kirk came from.

Sphere Entertainment, the company behind the Las Vegas Sphere, says that it will launch a “fully immersive” version of the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz beginning in August.

The company says it worked with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google and Magnopus to develop a version of The Wizard of Oz that “will maintain the integrity of the original while pushing the boundaries of Sphere’s experiential medium.”

And the company’s Sphere Studios division also says that it is developing a new documentary project called From the Edge, directed by Free Solo Academy Award winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. From the Edge will follow five extreme athletes: free diver Alenka Artnik, skier Markus Eder, rock climber Alex Honnold, Base jumper Katie Hansen Lajeunesse and surfer Kai Lenny, using proprietary camera technology.

Dragon Ball Super is a satisfying evolution of its predecessors that's not afraid to push the subject matter to particularly heightened places. Goku, Vegeta, and the rest of Earth's heroes go up against unprecedented power, all while their new transformations and godly upgrades help them stay afloat. Transformations are par for the course in Dragon Ball and it should come as no surprise that Dragon Ball Super's continues this tradition.

Many of these villainous transformations give the heroes pause. However, there are also several villain transformations that come across as wasteful, redundant, or derivative of past ideas. They hold Dragon Ball Super back, rather than push it forward.

Spider-Man foe Kraven is a villain through and through, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a comic book where he's portrayed in a heroic light. It makes sense then that he's not getting the hero treatment in this December's Kraven the Hunter movie from Sony Pictures.

A newly released featurette doubles down on the character's sinister side as we see Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Kraven hunting down his targets.

However, the sneak peek - which contains lots of bloody new footage from the movie - also drives home the fact that Kraven the Hunter is a "standalone" story, the same branding given to Madame Web earlier this year. Presumably, that means it takes place in its own reality rather than the world shared by Venom, Morbius, and, Earth-616's Vulture.

Former Smallville co-stars Kristin Kreuk and Erica Durance are set to reunite onscreen in the mystery series Murder in a Small Town. Based on the Alberg and Cassandra Mysteries by the late Canadian mystery author L.R. Wright, Murder in a Small Town season 1 recently premiered on Fox on September 24.
