Kaley Cuoco Moves to the Silver Screen - Secures Roles in I Hop and The Last Ride
Kaley Cuoco is making her move. The female star of the CBS hit show, The Big Bang Theory, has won the lead female role in I Hop, a live-action/CG-animation comedy produced by Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures. I Hop marks Cuoco’s first major studio feature role, an important distinction considering her last few films have been straight-to-dvd fare like Killer Movie, Cougar Club and the Lifetime classic, To Be Fat Like Me. In I Hop, Cuoco helps take care of the Easter Bunny’s (voiced by Russell Brand) son after her unemployed and irresponsible brother (James Marsden) accidently injures the child. Tim Hill (Alvin and the Chipmunks) will direct.

To counter-balance the broad comedy of I Hop, Cuoco will also be appearing in Harry Thomason (The Hunting of the President) independent film, The Last Ride. She will play a gas-station owner who has a brief fling with the...

Makers of six docus vie for WGA award
The Writers Guild of America on Thursday announced the nominees for its first documentary writing award for a feature film, a field of six pictures including two political studies but no nom for Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11. The nominated pictures are The Hunting of the President, which alleges a campaign against Bill Clinton from his early days in Arkansas through his impeachment; Control Room, an inside view of the Arab television network Al Jazeera during the war in Iraq; Bright Leaves, a reflection on Big Tobacco by the great-grandson of a tobacco baron; Home of the Brave, a study of murdered civil-rights activist Viola Liuzzo; In the Realm of the Unreal, which follows artist, novelist and janitor Henry Darger; and Super Size Me, a first-person take on the perils of overeating fast food. Of those films, only Super Size Me has been nominated for a best documentary Academy Award.

Morgan Spurlock in Super Size Me (2004)
NEW YORK -- With its Sundance Film Festival acquisition Super Size Me in current release, Eric d'Arbeloff and Howard Cohen's Roadside Attractions has snapped up another documentary, Jim De Seve's Tying the Knot, an exploration of the battle to legalize same-sex marriage. Knot -- produced through the 1,049 Films banner -- made its premiere at the recent Tribeca Film Festival. Roadside is planning an October rollout in time for the presidential election. Knot is just one of a handful of political docus -- among them Fahrenheit 9/11, Control Room and The Hunting of the President -- heating up theaters this year.

Regent delays 'President' in wake of Reagan death
NEW YORK -- Distributor Regent Entertainment is postponing the release date of its upcoming political documentary The Hunting of the President by a week in the wake of Ronald Reagan's death. Regent's Paul Colichman confirmed Monday that Hunting -- based on the best-selling book of the same name by Gene Lyons and Joe Conason -- will now roll out June 18, instead of June 11. The film was slated to have its premiere Wednesday at New York University's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, but Regent will now roll out the red carpet June 16. "It was the right thing to do," said Colichman. "The theme of our movie is respect for the American president. (It would be wrong) during a week of mourning to be throwing a party." Co-directed by Harry Thomason and Nickolas Perry, Hunting follows, according to the filmmakers, "the partisan vendettas and political myths and truths behind the nearly 10-year campaign to systematically destroy the political legacy of the Clintons."...
